Abstract

The poor performance of local health workers in Indonesia has often been voiced in the regional health facility. This study investigates whether the bureaucratic behaviour, facilities and infrastructure, and organizational culture will increase local health workers' motivation and job performance. This study collects data from 22 local health facilities across Maros Regency, Indonesia, for a quantitative investigation. A response rate of 294 samples is obtained following the normal distribution sampling. The data is then analyzed using the covariance-based Structural Equation Model (CB-SEM) with AMOS software. The results indicate that only facilities, infrastructures, and cultures are crucial for increasing health-worker motivation and job performance. The direct and mediating effects are also reported, with the results discussed with the following implication.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the scope and the level of commitment among employees towards service quality management practises in a hotel's organisation. Descriptive research design is used to know the parameters of service quality management in hotels. By applying a mixed of qualitative and quantitative data collection method from 100 hotels in Kuala Lumpur, 54 hotels responded, resulting in a response rate of 45%. The results indicate that the design and monitoring functions were ranked as the two most important phases in the service management process to incorporate service quality practises into a hotel's infrastructure for improved service quality gap management, followed by the implementation and planning functions.

Abstract

Despite being encircled by many poverty regencies, some areas can escape the vicious circle. Their government agency's quality as the accelerators comes up as one fundamental driver. Thus, this study explores this issue by investigating the effect of competence and compensation on work motivation and employee performance in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. 196 public servants respond to the statistical data analysis of the variance-based structural equation model (SEM). The results confirm that competence and compensation must be adequately considered to improve employee performance. Public agencies failing to accommodate these two meridians may suffer significant drawbacks in public and economic returns.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial in increasing Indonesia's GDP, as indicated by the number of MSMEs in Indonesia, estimated at around 50 million businesses. This study assesses the importance of networking, work culture, and reputation in developing MSMEs so that MSMEs can absorb a broad local workforce. The total population is 260 MSME actors in South Sulawesi. The data is then regressed using SmartPLS to get the findings. The results of the study show that networking and work culture has a positive and significant effect on business performance and reputation. Reputation has a positive but not significant impact on business performance. Indirectly, network and work culture positively but not significantly affect business performance through reputation.

Abstract

This research analyses how prestigious underwriters, IPO pricing, and share allocations shape IPO underpricing in Indonesia. 359 out of 406 Indonesian companies in the period 2010-2021 were underpriced on the first day of trading, noting the importance of investigating the rationale behind the underpricing phenomenon, which proliferates in the finance literature. This study examines the degree of IPO underpricing after the period post-Global Financial Crisis and the outbreak of COVID-19. This research found that the mean of underpricing amounted to 36,77% in 2010-2021. Prestigious underwriters have been proven significantly squeeze the level of underpricing vis-à-vis non-prestigious underwriters. Moreover, the research found that most institutional investors get disproportionately higher shares of the issuing companies. The finding signifies the lucrative capital gain for investors to pursue on the first day of trading.

Abstract

Job involvement is crucial to worker performance and productivity. This paper investigates the effects of extraversion and agreeableness on job involvement. We also suggest a link between collectivism and job involvement. The data were submitted by 190 registered nurses who worked at two public hospitals for additional research by employing PLS-SEM analysis. The findings show that extraversion, agreeableness, collectivism, and employee job involvement are all positively correlated. We consider the study's practical implications and conclude that personality traits can affect job involvement.

Abstract

The increase in research on local economic practices is not accompanied by theoretical analysis. This study explores people's behaviour in choosing partnership systems (Teseng) by analyzing the theory of planned behaviour. Therefore, this research implies that it is an instrument for measuring local economic practices from the perspective of the theory of planned behaviour. The methodology used was phenomenology with data from the Batukaropa village community, Bulukumba Regency, Indonesia. The results show that attitude toward a behaviour is indicated by a perspective of helping and strengthening kinship. Meanwhile, subjective norms consist of the perception that teseng is part of the social culture of society, and the practice of teseng reflects social status. Perceived behaviour control based on the practice of teseng is more flexible and effective than the procedures for applying venture capital in Islamic banking.

Abstract

This study uses survey responses from 321 Indonesian tourists to examine the connection between cultural contact, destination attractiveness, visitor satisfaction, and the likelihood of a revisit intention to Himpang Lime Habang in the South Bangka regency of the Bangka Belitung province, Indonesia. Two significant findings from this investigation were obtained using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling methods. The first finding is the correlation between satisfaction and the likelihood of future visits. Furthermore, a visitor's desire to return is unaffected by the attractiveness of a destination or the amount of cultural contact they have. Even though exposure to local culture and a destination's natural beauty can considerably enhance a visitor's experience, they have little bearing on whether or not someone will return.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to explore the dynamic relationship between customer incivility and employee silence in the hospitality sector over time. In addition, turnover intention as an outcome of workplace incivility and employee silence is also analyzed. The data was collected from two waves of 226 frontline employees from six hotels to test the proposed model. PLS-SEM analysis revealed a stable relationship between workplace incivility and employee silence at Time 1 and 2, respectively. This study also shows that workplace incivility is positively related to employee silence, and in the future, employee silence is also positively associated with customer incivility. Furthermore, both workplace incivility and employee silence are predictors of turnover intention. This study offers theoretical and practical implications for future researchers and practitioners to study employee silence and incivility in the hospitality sector.

Abstract

Indonesia's policy granted state universities with excellent asset management to manage their business independently. This study explored asset management practices at Indonesian state Islamic universities to reveal and evaluate the asset management practices. This study uses a qualitative research paradigm with a multisite approach. In-depth interviews and non-participant observation, including leaders of public service agencies, finance officials, asset managers, and financial management staff, were used as a data collection strategy. This study's findings indicate unpreparedness and dilemma in managing the university's assets, caused by the mindset of principals trapped in the old-school government paradigm. As they are encouraged to increase their income from asset management, they are also expected to reduce public subsidies. Weak asset management and low contribution to university funding are also present. Public universities must build a paradigm transformation from the government agency to agencification (semi-autonomy), from bureaucracy to entrepreneurship, both in mindset, system, and university management.
