Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze probabilistic thinking of elementary school students based on math ability and gender differences. Descriptive explorative approach was used to describe in depth probabilistic thinking of boys with high, middle, low math ability and girls with high, middle, low math ability. The result showed that probabilistic thinking of boy with high math ability indicated multistructural because his thinking quantitative and proportional. While probabilistic thinking of boys with middle, low math ability and girls with high, middle, low math ability indicated unistructural because their thinking quantitative and non proportional. Beside that, boys’ thinking in solving probability tasks was more analytical and flexible than girls’ thinking. So, students with math ability difference, gave difference response in solving probability tasks. This result found new strategy in solving probability comparison task. This result could contribute to curriculum developer to introduce probability in elementary school level and teachers could use discussion method in teaching probability material.

Abstract

The aims of the research is to describe the thinking process at mild intellectual disability students to solve mathematics problem. The research was a descriptive qualitative. The subjects of the research was students of grade eight SMPN 5 Metro. Technique analyzing of the data were: (1) classifying the data, (2) presenting the data, and (3) concluding the data in each categories. The results of the research showed that thinking process for mild intellectual disability students : (1) mild intellectual disability students can establishnment understanding in thinking process; (2) mild intellectual disability students can’t establishnment opinion and students cant’t using the right strategy to solve mathematics problem; (3) mild intellectual disability can’t give conclusion.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop teaching materials of mathematical set based on Islamic values that are feasible, practical, and effective. This research type is Research and Development (R&D). The model used in this research is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The instruments of data collection used the questionnaires and evaluation questions. The result of this research is the average of expert validation is 81,48% (very feasible). Then, based on the implementation of the student small group is obtained practicality percentage of 82%. While the result of the field trial in one class is obtained effectiveness percentage of 66,67%. Therefore, this research can be concluded that teaching materials of mathematical set based on Islamic values are feasible, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Low of mathematical literacy become this research base. Alternative solution in overcoming the problem is needed absolutely, so this research aim to analyze the essence of learning the strategy of Wankat-Oreovocz problem solving and the Probing Technique learning as alternative the problem solution. The research design which is used is a non-equivalent control group design by using technique of Purposive Sampling. The Research Subject is all eight grade students of Sukahaji Junior High School with the research sample is eight grade students. The research instrument used in the form is mathematical literacy test of level 5, teaching materials and questionnaire. Result of the research indicates that: There is not the difference of mathematical literacy of level 5 at student who is getting strategy of Wankat-Oreovocz problem solving (WO) and the Probing Technique learning (TP)

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develope mathematics instructional materials with ICARE model which were valid, practical, and effective. The instructional materials which were developed in this study consisted of mathematics worksheet. Data were collected by using observation sheet of instructional materials implementation, student’s and teacher’s response questionnaire, and problem solving test. The collected data analyzed descriptively. The result of this research showed that the developed mathematics instructional materials are categorized “very high” in validity. Based on the results of try out which were conducted, it was obtained that the instructional materials had fulfilled the practicality aspect. It could be seen from: 1) the instructional implementation on limited try out belonged to practical and instructional implementation on the first and the second field try out belonged to very practical; 2) the use of developed mathematics instructional materials which were observed from student’s response belonged to practical; and 3) teacher’s response towarded the use of mathematics instructional materials belonged to very practical in category. The instructional materials had fulfilled the effectiveness aspects which were seen from: 1) the problem solving skills of students on the first and the second field try out were good in category (had exceeded the standard minimal score). The characteristics of the learning using the developed mathematics instructional materials were: 1) the learning began by introducing students real phenomena and problem in daily life related to the material; 2) giving the students a freedom in giving opinions and discussions; 3) generating social interaction and self-confidence of students, 4) giving the students the learning experience in using GeoGebra; and 5) giving opportunities for students to think about alternative solutions in solving problems.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to increase the mastery learning of student by implementation of cooperative Learning type number head together. The method of the reseacrh was Classroom Action Research. The Instrument of data collection used formatif test sheet and photo documentation. Technique of data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. Based on the results of this research showed that through a cooperative learning type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) can increase student mathematics learning completeness VIID class. Increased mastery learning mathematics student looks from the average value of the class, the average value of the final test grade students cycle known to increase students' mastery learning mathematics in the first cycle was 74.3 to 76.2 in the second cycle. In addition, the number of students who received grades greater than or equal to 75 also increased from the first cycle is 16 students or 50% to 25 students or 78.12%.

Abstract

The research was conducted to find out the influence of learning model of scaffolding to understanding consept of integral. The design of this research is quasi experiment consisting of 1 experiment class and 1 control class. The purpose of this research is to examine and know the difference understanding concept of integral, students who obtained learning model of scaffolding and students who received conventional learning. This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah University of Metro. The population is all students of mathematics semester 2 Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Two classes are drawn into a sample, 1 class as a control class and 1 other class is given learning model of scaffolding. Based on the results of research that has been done can be concluded that there is a difference understanding integral concept students who obtain learning model of scaffolding and students who obtain conventional learning.

Abstract

This study is intended to determine problemtika types of errors in math story problem solving in elementary school student. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. In a descriptive study is essentially a method used to find specific data and the reality of what happened in the community at a particular time. To find the errors do math word problems can be analyzed on a step by step process of the students completed the test questions were given. in some cases comprehension students about about the story on which this study, students' difficulties phrased sentence of math word problems, difficulty in terms of actual in description story for students in the following ways; (1) Students with lower language understanding, it is very difficult to digest towards the goal of every sentence in the matter of the story. Going where and what to do with the sense of the question is very vague and unclear. So the mindset of students just spinning on the same premises. (2) The concept is not yet strong prerequisite for solving problems related to the concept of prerequisite

Abstract

Lack of student response in learning mathematics caused by passive of student in process of learning progress so that student consider mathematics subject is difficult subject to be understood. The research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) using 2 cycles, then the purpose of this research is how the implementation of cooperative learning type of index card match in improving student learning outcomes on the subject matter of composition function and inverse function in MAN 1 Mataram. While the results of the analysis in the study showed that there is in cycle I obtained classical completeness 78.79% with the average score of student learning outcomes 69.78 and the average value of student learning responses with the category Enough, then in cycle II shows that classical thoroughness 87 , 89% with mean score of student learning result 78,94 and average value of student learning response with good category. So it can be concluded that the implementation of Model Cooperative Learning Type Index Card Match can improve student learning outcomes on the subject matter of composition function and inverse function.
