Abstract

Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) due to the Covid-19 outbreak affected all aspects of life including the performing arts. The prohibition of the crowd which is characteristic of a conventional show forces the creators and performers to adapt. One of the ways taken is to adapt the show in the real world (real) to the virtual world (virtual) and sacrifice a number of aspects of the performing arts. This research develops a performance model of the Dipanegara Storybook which is transformed from the real world performance to the virtual world. This qualitative descriptive study uses an experimental method. Modeling is performed on the performance space, the viewer, as well as interactivity and audience involvement using digital technology, including 3D modeling, motion capture, augmented reality and real time game engine. Based on the developed model, this research has succeeded in identifying a number of aspects that can be adapted, as well as the advantages and disadvantages arising from these adaptations.Seni

Abstract

Generasi millennial adalah generasi yang unik dengan karakteristik tertentu yang merupakan kelompok potensial dalam memberikan kontribusi terbaik bagi kemajuan bangsa. Generasi ini disebut juga sebagai digital natives karena mereka terlahir ditengah perkembangan abad digital atau pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi. Tereksposnya generasi millennial dalam penggunaan teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi secara intens dalam semua aspek kehidupan telah melahirkan karakteristik tertentu. Hal itu berdampak terhadap cara pandang generasi millennial dalam melakukan aktivitas, termasuk dalam menjalankan perannya sebagai warga negara. Artikel ini mencoba menyelidiki bagaimana peran dari generasi millennial dalam negara demokratis sebagai warga negara digital (digital citizen) pada era yang didominasi oleh penggunaan teknologi di media digital. Makalah ini merupakan suatu eksplorasi literatur atau library research tentang konsep kewarganegaraan digital, dan upaya perubahan yang harus dilakukan dalam konteks pembelajaran kewarganegaraan, dalam rangka menyiapkan warga negara untuk menjalankan perannya untuk melakukan partisipasi, sehingga menjadi 'good and smart digital citizens' dan melahirkan civic virtue bagi negara. Kata kunci: generasi millennial, demokrasi partisipatori, kewarganegaraan digital

Abstract

Humans as social beings cannot be free from conflict. Speech is one of the causes of conflict. This study discusses the function of Positive Face Threatening Acts on-record baldly without redressive action on household conflicts in a popular psychology book and cyber conflicts between netizens on Facebook. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that there were two main functions of the use of Positive Face Threatening Acts baldly on-record without redressive action in household conflicts taken from dialogues in a popular psychology book and cyber conflicts between netizens on Facebook comments, namely if it is used as a utterance then it functions to trigger conflict (PK) and if it is used as a response it serves to maintain FTA/Face/conflict (MK). Whatever the problems or conflicts background that occur both in the household and in the cyber world, conflicts can arise as a result of utterances and also with utterances these conflicts can be resolved or maintained. It depends on the participants involved in the conflict. In other words, utterances can be used either to threaten or defend one's self-esteem/face.

Abstract

Paper engineering or often referred to pop-up has been growing and gaining popularity among people. Yet, until todaythere have been no well-structured mapping made in the study of paper engineering as done in other studies in art anddesign. This research, therefore, aims to map the concept, principle, mechanisms, and elements of paper engineering forcreators and people who are interested in exploring the art of paper engineering to learn. The research is done throughliterature study, either from books or the internet; it was taken from interviews with professional paper engineers inIndonesia. Based on the results of this research, the principle of paper engineering consists of five principles: interactivity,compact, consistency, flexibility, and surprise. The mechanism of paper engineering can be classified into two categories:the movement and the form of the mechanism. The study also reveals that the whole mechanism of paper engineeringconsists of four types of elements: the base page, the object being moved, the moving object, and the builder element.The results of this research can be used as a study reference about the art of paper engineering for students, teachers,practitioners, and fans of paper engineering art.

Abstract

Mass media is one of the leading sectors in handling COVID-19. Amidst current health emergency, public trusttowards the information conveyed by the mass media is the key to successful mitigation. Various types of newsregarding massive COVID-19 reports in several media channels have the potential to cause information bias whichends in pros and cons. Insubstantial debates in varied media are counter-productive to the efforts of various partiesin educating the society to avoid misinformation. Based on this, it is important to know the media that are referencesand that gain public trust in seeking information. This study examines the level of public trust in information aboutCOVID-19 in the mass media, both old and new media, using an online questionnaire methodology on May 3, 2020,which was given to 60 respondents. The results show that the respondents’ level of faith in television is higher, but itsconsumption by viewers is much lower than that of online media (news sites and social media). The results showedthat viewers still deemed television a reliable reference for information. From these data it was found out why themedia are rarely used by the people but are able to gain high trust in the eyes of the public. The results of this studyare expected to provide an overview of the attitudes and behavior of the community in understanding COVID-19information so that relevant parties can make appropriate policies in the perspectives of media and communication.

Abstract

This research is a case study that discusses collaborative products between brand A and the SK music group. Thisresearch uses qualitative method where data collection was carried out by interviewing the manufacturers of sneakersA to find out the relationship between the products and the design process carried out on the collaboration. The resultsobtained are in the form of a design process from a manufacturer of sneakers A and the role of collaborators in eachstage of the design process. The analysis is in the form of a comparison between the data obtained from the interviews and from the literature used. From the research results, it was found that there were differences in the types of sneakers in the collaborative product series, and some of the designs did not match the image of the collaborators who were personnel of the rock music group SK. This research is expected to be a recommendation for producers and designers in designing collaborative products. In the academic field, it is also expected to open new research related to collaborative sneakers and other collaborative products.

Abstract

The leading kampung in the city of Surabaya has become a self-supporting social entity with a hybrid organizationalfunction. This has made Surabaya one of the Global Green Cities in 2017. These kampungs in Surabaya carry outcommunity empowerment independently in their function to complement or balance the government functions. Theempowerment puts forward social functions based on environmental innovation in creating commercial goals that provide benefits for its members. This study aims to find the determinants of environmental innovation resulting from social empowerment of urban village communities with a qualitative approach. The researcher acts as an instrument withsix sources from five selected leading kampungs: Mangrove Kampung, Bratang Binangun Kampung, Grudo Kampung,Maspati Kampung, and Jambangan Kampung. Data were collected through field observations and document searches forapproximately two months from August to September 2019. The analysis and validation were processed by triangulation,checking group members, and rich descriptions of the essence of environmental innovation in the city of Surabaya.

Abstract

The low publication rate of Indonesian researchers in reputable international journals, particularly in arts and humanities,is caused, among others, by difficulties they faced in producing precise expository texts in English, which are differentfrom texts in Indonesian. The present study examines lexical bundles in the corpora of English and Indonesian researcharticles (RA) on literature and linguistics to describe the similarities and differences of conventionalized phraseology inthe scientific genre of English and Indonesian by using corpus software, namely Sketch Engine. The study focuses onthe frequency, structural and functional characteristics of lexical bundles using a mixed-method research design. TheEnglish corpus comprises 1,351,048 words derived from 124 RA, while the Indonesian corpus consists of 637,910 wordscollected from 124 RA. We found that three-word lexical bundles are more prevalent than four-word lexical bundles inboth corpora. Based on the structural forms, prepositional-based bundles are the most frequent form in English RA, whilenoun-based bundles are the most common form in Indonesian RA. There were no participant-oriented bundles foundin the Indonesian RA corpus in terms of functional classification, whereas the English RA corpus involved more variedfunctional categories of lexical bundles. The findings provide an understanding of phraseological combinations in Englishand Indonesian scientific writing, characterizing disciplinary discourse as well as native and non-native English speakers’rhetorical style, and have pedagogical implications for EAP practitioners.

Abstract

Intolerance phenomenon that is currently happening in Indonesia requires a quick and precise response and involvesvarious parties. Universities as a miniature of the diversity of the Indonesian nation need to make a series of efforts toimprove multicultural understanding so that they can produce students who are friendly to diversity, and view differencesas a necessity as well as a gift from God. This research, conducted through library research, discusses the interconnectionbetween Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan and Bahasa Indonesia courses to build multicultural understanding of studentsliving in the digital era. The results of the research indicate that the interconnection between Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan and Bahasa Indonesia courses can be an alternative strategy to build multicultural understanding of the digital generation, especially when the substance of Bahasa Indonesia is embedded in the subject matter, i.e. the dynamics of national and state life, national identity, and integration, as well as synergies for the prosperity of the nation packaged creatively and innovatively through a digital campaign.
