Abstract

Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya menyebutkan bahwa perubahan tutupan lahan menjadi perkebunan kelapa sawit menyebabkan kehilangan jenis satwaliar, salah satunya dari kelompok mamalia. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan data mengenai bagaimana besarnya kehilangan jenis tersebut. Penelitian ini menduga besaran kehilangan dan perolehan jenis mamalia akibat adanya pembangunan perkebunan kelapa sawit. Data diambil dengan pengamatan langsung (metode strip transect) secara paralel di perkebunan kelapa sawit PT. Rambang Agro Jaya, Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tutupan lahan antara sebelum (semak belukar) dan setelah adanya perkebunan kelapa sawit. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perubahan dari semak belukar menjadi perkebunan kelapa sawit tidak mengubah jumlah jenis mamalia, namun meningkatkan indeks kekayaan jenis dan menurunkan indeks kekayaan jenisnya. Indeks kesamaan jenis antara semak belukar dan perkebunan kelapa sawit adalah 0,56. Pembangunan perkebunan kelapa sawit juga menyebabkan kehilangan dan perolehan jenis mamalia dengan persentase yang sama, yaitu 67%. Keberadaan mamalia setelah adanya perkebunan kelapa sawit diduga disebabkan karena ketersediaan pakannya.

Abstract

One of the management challenges in pineapple cultivation at plantation scale is the still occurrence of disparity in land productivity across the cultivated area although the cropping practices have been implemented for many years. In the case of a pineapple plantation in Central Lampung Regency, contribution of soil biochemical properties in terms of various soil enzyme activities as a determinant factor of land productivity has never been elaborated. This research was aimed to study the relationships among biochemical and other soil properties with land productivity or pineapple yield at plantation scale. Rhizosphere soil-composite samples were taken purposively from 4 stations at the largest Indonesian pineapple plantation representing blocks with high and low yield and growth at vegetative and generative phase. Relationships amongst the studied parameters were evaluated using PCA and linear multiple regression analysis. The results showed significant contributions of the rhizosphere soil properties on the pineapple yield according to equation: Yield = 64.895 – 6.546 PCA1 +13.057 PCA2 – 7.722 PCA4 (R2= 0.612), where PCA1 consisted of soil available-P, available-K, and CEC; PCA2 was of soil base saturation, total microbe population, enzyme activities of cellulase and invertase, while PCA4 was of soil organic C, silt fraction, and phosphatase activities.

Abstract

Babakan merupakan salah satu desa lingkar kampus yang berpotensi menimbulkan sampah rumah tangga, dimana setiap tahunnya mahasiswa dan pendatang bermukim di Desa Babakan. Pengelolaan sampah yang ada saat ini masih dengan sistem kumpul-angkut-buang sehingga mengakibatkan penurunan kualitas lingkungan pemukiman tersebut. TPS 3R merupakan pengelolaan sampah berbasis masyarakat dengan penerapan Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle menuju zero waste, yang dapat diimplementasikan di Desa Babakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi implementasi TPS 3R pada rumah tangga di Desa Babakan. Metode analisis yang digunakan yaitu, analisis deskriptif kuantitatif yang mengacu pada pedoman SNI 19-3964-1994, analisis deskriptif kualitatif, dan Contingent Valuation Method. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total timbulan sampah rumah tangga, tingkat partisipasi dan kesediaan membayar rumah tangga terhadap rencana TPS 3R memungkinkan untuk implementasi TPS 3R tersebut. Biaya operasional TPS 3R dapat dipenuhi walaupun berpotensi adanya free rider.

Abstract

The land plays a significant role in world life to continue its journey and fulfill living things’ needs. However, there is a noticeable increasing trend in farmland abandonment, directly affecting farmers’ livelihood and food security (Paudel et al. 2020). Remote sensing analysis reported that all the districts and subdistricts in Karawang Regency have abandoned land with varying numbers and more distributed more intensely in the hub of the region. The study has discovered that the total number of farmland abandonment is 28 times of the Central Beauaru Statistics has claimed. 75% producer accuracy, terminology, minimum unit data collected, land ownership, and the ability of remote sensing to read all earth reflectan are the possible answer to the disparity. Machine learning informed that the top three essential variables are the irrigation service, the hillside, and the spatial plan that drives farmland abandonment. Thus, developing a new irrigation service to access the remote farmland and reviewing the spatial that have more flavor to the agriculture are the scenario proposed by this study, while the hillside remains a constraint.

Abstract

Lahan gambut memiliki kemampuan untuk memulihkan lingkungannya sendiri melalui proses suksesi vegetasi ketika mengalami kebakaran. Area dengan frekuensi kebakaran yang berberda memiliki dominasi vegetasi yang berbeda. Pengamatan dilakukan pada area yang mengalami frekuensi satu, dua, tiga dan empat kali terbakar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menjelaskan perbedaan vegetasi yang menyusun area dengan frekuensi kebakaran berbeda. Vegeteasi tingkat pertumbuhan pancang dan tumbuhan bawah ditemukan pada semua area frekuensi terbakar, tingkat pertumbuhan semai ditemukan pada area satu dan tiga kali terbakar, tingkat pertumbuhan tiang ditemukan pada area satu kali terbakar dan tingkat pertumbuhan pohon ditemukan pada area satu dan dua kali terbakar. Tingkat pertumbuhan pancang pada area frekuensi satu kali terbakar didominasi oleh vegetasi Sepongol, area frekuensi dua kali terbakar didominasi oleh Bangun-bangun dan area frekuensi tiga dan empat kali terbakar didominasi oleh Melastoma malabatrihcum. Tumbuhan bawah pada area dengan frekuensi satu, dua dan tiga kali terbakar didominasi oleh Asplenium longissimum dan pada area dengan frekuensi empat kali terbakar didominasi oleh Athyrium esculentum

Abstract

Pembangunan bandar udara baru dengan konsep aerotropolis di Kulon Progo telah menstimulus pembangunan dan mengubah wajah kawasan dari rural-oriented menjadi urban-oriented. Dampak negatif pertumbuhan yang cepat seperti munculnya fenomena urban sprawl perlu diantisipasi melalui perencanaan tata ruang yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi daya dukung berbasis kemampuan lahan pada penggunaan lahan eksisting dan rencana tata ruang. Metode yang digunakan untuk evaluasi daya dukung adalah matching criteria. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa 56,13% wilayah Kulon Progo didominasi oleh kelas kemampuan agak rendah hingga rendah (kelas V-VIII) dengan faktor pembatas utama berupa lereng. Evaluasi keselarasan dengan penutupan/penggunaan lahan 2020 menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar penggunaan lahan berada pada status selaras (S) dan selaras bersyarat (SB). Penggunaan lahan yang tidak selaras dengan daya dukungnya seluas 8.286,44 ha yang terdistribusi di bagian selatan. Sementara, evaluasi terhadap rencana tata ruang wilayah (RTRW) Kabupaten Kulon Progo menunjukkan bahwa 57% rencana selaras dengan kemampuan lahan. Namun demikian, daya dukung lahan di Kulon Progo dalam kondisi yang cukup baik. Intervensi perencanaan perlu dilakukan untuk wilayah-wilayah yang memiliki status selaras bersyarat dan tidak selaras.

Abstract

Segara Anakan mangrove waters is a lagoon surrounded by mangrove forests and muddy land. Mangrove forests have an ecological function such as spawning ground, nursery ground, and feeding ground for various biota. Mud crab is one of fishery commodities, which is important in Indonesia. Segara Anakan mangrove waters, is one of the fishing villages which catch mud crabs because of the high demand. The high demand for mud crabs needs to be balanced with the right management strategy, so that the population will not extinction. The purpose of this study is to determine the ecology of mud crab, Scylla serrata Forskål, 1775 and its fishery potential and also to explain the habitat population in the Segara Anakan mangrove forest. Many previous studies conducted by previous researchers. Environmental parameters, i.e. temperature, salinity, oxygen, light penetration, and nature of the bottom were also studied. Crabs were caught by traditional crab catch fishery called “Wadong” (fish pot). Around 6487 crabs were caught by “wadong”. The catch consisted of 2920 male crabs (45.02%) and 3567 female crabs (54.98%). The dominant size groups for males and females in terms of their carapace length (CL) were 35.00-40.00 mm and 43.00-106.00 mm, respectively. Females mature at smaller size, i.e. at 42.70 mm CL. Breeding takes places during June-July. CL weight relationship showed that males were heavier than females. The regression equations for both sexes are as follows: WF= 10-3 5.871 L2.4443 (r= 0.999) and WM= 10-4 4.043 L3.1035 (r= 0.999).

Abstract

This research focuses on villages where the community mostly works in the small-scale gold mining sector (ASGM), namely Hulawa Village and Buladu Village, North Gorontalo Regency. Mercury has remained being used by the community in this location for gold processing since a long time. It is important to increase the environmental literacy of the community around the ASGM area considering the dangers of mercury to health and the environment. This study aims to improve the environmental literacy of the community around ASGM regarding the mercury dangers to health and environment. Raising the community environmental literacy is carried out through a mercury dangers awareness campaign by playing videos of mercury dangers, distributing mercury-free gold processing leaflets, resources person explanation concerning mercury impact. Public knowledge about the dangers of mercury before and after the campaign was measured through questions. This study shows that there is a rise in the number of people who understand the dangers of mercury after a mercury awareness campaign. The increase in the number of people who understand the mercury dangers shows that audio-visual and printed media are effectively used to increase public awareness of the dangers of mercury in ASGM areas.

Abstract

Subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) rainfall forecast can benefit several sectors, such as water resources, hazard management, and agriculture. However, the forecast remains challenging due to its lack of skill. This study applies Convolutional AutoEncoders (ConvAE), a deep learning technique, to improve the quality of the S2S rainfall forecast. Seven S2S model output incorporated with Subseasonal Experiments Projects (SubX), including CCSM4, CFSv2, FIMr1p1, GEFS, GEOS_v2p1, GEPS6, and NESM, are corrected using the ConvAE approach. We combine 407 ground observations and the CHIRPS dataset using regression kriging methods producing gridded daily precipitation data with 0.05° spatial resolution. We utilize this dataset as a label to train ConvAE models and to perform bias corrections to all members of the SubX forecasts data. The results show that ConvAE is able to increase the quality of weekly S2S rainfall forecasts over Java, Indonesia. The Correlation Coefficient for 1 – 4 weeks lead time are improved from: 0.76, 0.715, 0.692 and 0.722 towards 0.809, 0.751, 0.719 and 0.74, respectively. Furthermore, the average CRPSS improves between 20 – 30% for all lead times.

Abstract

Much has been studied about the agrarian issues and its conflicts in Indonesia, but few of them have been explored in the context of small islands designated as a conservation areas. To fill the gap, this paper aims to analyze the dynamics of spatial utilization and tenurial conflict in the conservation area of Moyo Island, West Nusa Tenggara. Based on qualitative methods, the data was gathered through observation, in-depth interviews with 20 key informants, and secondary sources. This study reveals that spatial utilization practices on Moyo Island are problematic which has triggered a conflict as consequence. Forest areas have been openly and collectively encroached on by the local community to become agricultural land due to a lack of control by the local government as the authority. Meanwhile, extensive fishing practices and tourism activities are threatening the long-term viability of coral reefs in coastal areas. These difficulties are also intertwined with tenurial conflicts between local communities and Nature Conservation Agency of West Nusa Tenggara regarding land boundaries as well as the problem among local people and the private sector purchasing and selling property under the table. All in all, this study offers policy recommendations to resolve those problems on conservation area of Moyo Island.
