Abstract

This article discusses the importance of a librarian's humanistic personality in an effort to improve the quality of library services. The humanistic personality of librarians involves not only technical skills in managing information, but also the ability to interact with library users empathetically and attentively. This research identifies key characteristics of a humanist personality, such as being patient, communicative, and attentive to individual needs, which form the basis for more responsive and quality library services. In addition, this article also analyzes how the development of humanist personality in librarians can contribute to the achievement of the library's goal as a center of learning and community empowerment. It is hoped that the results of this discussion can provide insights for relevant parties in designing librarian training programs that not only focus on technical skills, but also on developing attitudes and characters that support the best service for the community.

Abstract

Abstract This study represents the researcher's response to the phenomenon of ondel-ondel as street performers. The study aims to examine the existence of ondel-ondel through the lens of both Islamic and Western philosophy. Using a qualitative approach, the method relies on words, phrases, or sentences to build a narrative and is generally applied in case study research. The findings reveal, from the perspective of Islamic philosophy, that the existence of ondel-ondel has undergone a shift and displays a gradation of existence as street buskers. Meanwhile, from a Western philosophical viewpoint, ondel-ondel busking represents hyperreality, as it becomes detached from its original standards and context as part of Betawi art and culture.

Abstract

Abstract

Many television commercials participate in campaigning the awareness of covid-19 virus spread as well as the implementation of New Normal which is defined as the time to follow health protocol while maintaining the distance from others, in adapting with the existence of the virus. The commercial of Sukun, in the episode of “Sukun lebaran 2021 “sing penting duite”, also partakes in informing public on the significance of celebrating Idul Fitri with the smallest and closest group of people in order to be safe from the virus. This portrayal is unlike Indonesia’s decades of customs in celebrating this Islamic Holiday by mudik, gathering with many people, and visiting others’ houses. In order to analyze this advertisement in relaying positive campaign, this research employs qualitative method specifically Gillian Rose’s Visual Methodology. Rose defines meaning of images is completed at three sites; the image itself, the production of the image, and the audience. Meaning of image made by the image itself is selected as approach in gaining more focused analysis. In addition, this research employs Stuart Hall’s representation theory regarding the adjustment in celebrating the day. The research finds that the brief commercial employs simple language so that the message becomes informative and persuasive. Hence, “sing penting duite” is established as the center of attention. The presented visual which compared the past and today celebration highlights the changing and the effort to adapt with current situation. Afterward, this also signifies the support and empowerment toward the viewer during this global pandemic.

Abstract

The value of museums as cultural heritage has shifted from being merely cultural heritage to interactive and digital models due to rapid advances in digital technology. However, one of the many cultural heritage museums managed by the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Office, the Sri Baduga Museum located in the city of Bandung, is struggling to keep up with the digital trend. The purpose of this study is to analyze the challenges faced by the Sri Baduga Museum in preserving cultural heritage in the modern era. Additionally, it aims to identify strategies that can be implemented to enhance the museum's appeal while maintaining its cultural values. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection methods such as interviews, field observations, and literature reviews related to museum digitization. The results of the study show that the problems that need to be addressed include budget constraints, lack of human and technological resources, and lack of supporting infrastructure. On the other hand, opportunities to use simple technologies such as QR codes, virtual tours, and social media can help market the museum. Collaboration between the government, academics, and cultural communities that drive museums remains important in preserving museums as cultural heritage.

Abstract

This paper discusses strategic approaches to the preservation of rare collections in the era of Industry 4.0, with a focus on the Library and Museum Sonobudoyo in Yogyakarta. The study employed a qualitative approach using data collection techniques such as direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the institution has established a written policy on rare collection preservation, structured in the form of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The preservation strategies implemented include: (1) environmental and storage space management supported by Internet of Things (IoT) technology; (2) disaster preparedness systems, including the provision of fire extinguishers (APAR) and the formation of emergency response teams; (3) information preservation through the digitalization of the intellectual content of collections; and (4) cross-sector collaboration and large-scale technological implementation, such as mass deduplication and digitalization. These efforts demonstrate an integration of physical conservation and digital transformation to ensure sustainable access to rare collections amid technologicaladvancements. In conclusion, the preservation of rare collections has been carried out through adaptive, technology-based approaches. These efforts contribute to the sustainability of cultural heritage in the digital era. It is recommended that human resource development and routine evaluation be continuously conducted to maintain the effectiveness of the implemented strategies.
