Abstract

This research begins from the phenomenon of adolescents who deliberately and join in by others behaving immorally. This phenomenon illustrates moral disengagement, which is the mechanism of individual cognition to look for logical reasons that their immoral behavior can be justified logically.  Previous studies found inconsistent research results about the variables that affect moral disengagement. Therefore this study aims to find answers whether concern for other, perspective taking, and internal locus of control have an effect on moral disengagement. This study used correlational quantitative method with multiple regression tests. 500 respondents from high school and vocational high school students in the Province of West Java. The results showed that concern for others, perspective taking and internal locus of control had a significant negative effect on moral disengagement.

Abstract

The study aims to examine the effect of academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination on plagiarism behavior in students. The population of this research is the students of Walisongo State Islamic University Semarang from 2nd to 12th semester. Sampling was carried out by using the stratified sampling method, and 388 students were obtained. Data were collected using three scales: the plagiarism behavior scale, the academic self-efficacy scale, and the academic procrastination scale. Moreover, the data collected was analyzed using multiple regression analysis techniques. The result of the data analysis showed that academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination simultaneously influence the behavior of plagiarism. The higher the academic self-efficacy and the lower the academic procrastination, the lower the plagiarism behavior, conversely the lower the academic self-efficacy and the higher the academic procrastination, the higher the plagiarism behavior. The contribution of academic self-efficacy variables and academic procrastination simultaneously in explaining plagiarism variables was 13%.

Abstract

Adolescents with physical disability is an adolescents whose have bodily abnormalities in their structure or function which can interfere with their activities such as normal teenagers. The psychological impact suffered by adolescents with physical disability such as low self-esteem, anxiety,  frustration, withdrawal from society and apathy. Those condition can reduce the level of subjective well-being and to improve there is internal factors, self-compassion. This research has the aim of knowing how the relationship of self-compassion towards subjective well-being of adolescents with physical disability. This research use quantitative correlational with 140 total sample. The results shows that there is a significant relationship self-compassion toward subjective well-being. Relationships have a positive direction, when self-compassion increased, subjective wellbeing also higher in adolescent with physical disability and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy and organizational climate on employee engagement with organizational commitment as a mediator. The subjects who participated in this study were 110 employees of a travel agent company. Data was collected using scales namely Self-Efficacy, Organizational Climate, Organizational Commitment, and Employee Engagement scales and analyzed using SEM analysis techniques. The results  showed a significant effect of self-efficacy and organizational climate on employee engagement with organizational commitment as a mediator variable with a correlation coefficient r = 0.575 and r = 0,478 (significance level (p) = 0.001). These results indicate that organizational commitment can mediate self-efficacy towards Employee engagement by providing an effective contribution of 33.1% and mediating organizational climate of employee engagement with an effective contribution of 22.8.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship of moral values formed in five moral values, harm/care, fairness/ reciprocity, ingroup/loyalty, authority/respect and purity/sanctity with the political orientation of the various Islamic organizations in Indonesia. Research carried out by the quantitative method with the correlational approach. Participants in this study were 531 Muslims who affiliated the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, Persis, Mathlaul Anwar, PUI, LDII, and Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). The results show that Muslim organizations in Indonesia showed different patterns in the moral values that associated with the political orientation of Islam. Based on this research Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, Mathlaul Anwar, PUI, and LDII including Islamic groups with a political orientation inclusive while Persis and Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), including the Islamic group with exclusive political orientation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of sexuality training to increasing the knowledge of sexuality and sexual assertiveness behavior in adolescents. This study used preexperimental design, with one group pretest posttest design, where only one group will be given treatment. The research sample was selected using total sampling method. The subjects of this study were 12 members of Posyandu Puskesmas X aged 11-20 years. Sexuality knowledge was measured using an instrument prepared by researchers, while Sexual Assertiveness Scale (SAS) was used to measure sexual assertiveness. The intervention consists of eight sessions of sexuality training for two days. Data was analyzed using wilcoxon signed rank test. The results show that sexuality training is effective to increasing knowledge and sexual assertiveness, and it is expected to be able to prevent teenagers from engaging in premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

The issues of dating violence take public attention recently.  Psychological dating violence is one type of violence that has a serious impact on victims where women are more likely to experience it. Attachment theory is one of the risk factor that contributed in dating violence. The aim of this study is to determine whether insecure attachment (preoccupied, dismissive, and fearful avoidant) influence female to become victims of psychological dating violence. The sample of this research consists of 393 female late adolescents in Jakarta. Multiple Regression Analysis shows that insecure attachment impact significantly to the vurnerability of becoming victim in psychological dating violence among female late adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical data about caring behavior of warden in child prison (LPKA) perceived by child inmates called LPKA students. This study used mixed-method design combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The first phase of research conducted by quantitative methods of data collection involving 67 samples consisted of 44 students of LPKA Bandung and 23 students of LPKA Tangerang. The measuring instrument used was caring behavior questionnaire adapted from Freese's caring instrument (1999). The second phase was conducted through interviews with four students of LPKA. The results showed that the caring behaviors of LPKA officers were mainly shown in the dimensions of understanding LPKA students. The caring behavior of these officers is demonstrated by their concern for physical conditions, food needs and emotional assistance, especially when LPKA students face problems. The presence of officers who care for LPKA students might be able to substitute the parents figures for LPKA students.

Abstract

Social support is important to predict subjective well-being in school for students, especially support from friends, parents, and teachers. Students who study at Modern Islamic Boarding, they interact with friends and teachers more often than with parents. The purpose of this study to examine the role of perceived social support from friends, parents, and teachers to enhace subjective well-being in school, and also with each dimension of subjective well-being in school, school satisfaction and affect in school. Participants in this study (N = 264) were a junior high school in grades 7 and 8 in one of the Modern Islamic Boarding School in West Java. The data was obtained using a questionnaire. A multiple regression and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The results shows that perceived social support from friends and teacher has positive impact to subjective well-being in school, while perceived social support from parents is not significantly correlated. Futhermore, perceived social support from friends also has a positive role to enhace school satisfaction and affect in school, perceived social support from teacher significantly correlated with school satisfaction but not with affect in school. The limitation of the study and suggestion for future research were discussed.

Abstract

Disability employees are still relatively few employed in he company. When disability employees have to work in tandem with normal employees, of course there will be a little different treatment from their normal coworkers. It will have a impact on psychological conditions especially on mental health and workplace well-being disability employee, both in internal and external factors. This study examined the effect of workplace well-being on mental health. The study was conducted at one company located in Garut, West Java. Total participants are 70 employee with disability (30 men and 40 women). The researcher used a workplace well-being Questionaire and General Health Questionare (QHG). Data were analyzed using simple regression analysis. The results showed that there was an effect of workplace well-being on mental health. It can be seen from the significance value of 0,000 less than 0.005.
