Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a significant contributor to global musculoskeletal disorders, often associated with uncomfortable working postures prevalent among home convection workers. This study investigates the correlation between work posture and LBP incidence in 36 female home convection workers aged 20-55, selected through total sampling. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Conducted from March 31 to June 17, 2023, in Sragen, the study utilized RULA with an ordinal scale for posture analysis and the Modified ODI questionnaire, also employing an ordinal scale for LBP measurement. Results revealed 52.78% with low-risk and 47.22% with high-risk postures. Most LBP cases were mild (35 individuals). Kendall’s tau correlation test showed no significant relationship between work posture and LBP incidence (p-value = 0.175, p 0.05). This research concluded that there was no significant relationship between work posture and the incidence of LBP among female home construction workers. However, no significant correlation was found; 47.22% faced a high risk of other musculoskeletal disorders, highlighting the need for immediate posture changes among these workers.

Abstract

While weight loss occurs in patients with cancer, PUFA may suppress cancer growth. This study aims to determine the high PUFA nutritional supplementation’s effect on the nutritional status of patients with advanced cervical cancer who received radiotherapy. This study was a double-blind Randomized Clinical Trial on patients with advanced cervical cancer. Subjects were taken consecutively, through randomization, divided into treatment and control groups. Thirty-one patients were involved as respondents, with 16 in the treatment groups and 15 in the control groups. The findings revealed that socio-demographic status, omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acid intake patterns, and nutritional and clinical status were not significantly different between groups before treatment. Nutritional supplementation was provided as ONS labeled A and B, taken three times a day. During treatment, patients were asked to record all food and beverages consumed in the intake book at least three days a week, including two working days and one day off. The treatment group’s body weight was relatively more stable, while the control group tended to decrease in weight, but the ∆ weight loss in each group was not significantly different (p = 0.149). PUFA supplementation can maintain the nutritional status of patients with cervical cancer by maintaining body weight.

Abstract

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury is a prevalent, severe, and costly orthopedic condition affecting individuals. The ACL prevalence is related to harder activity. This study aims to explore the correlation between age, Body Mass Index (BMI), and occupational history with the severity of ACL injuries at Gatot Soebroto Central Army Hospital. The analysis adopted a cross-sectional design and utilized the chi-square test, examining 121 medical records from 2 groups of patients that were civilians and National Armed Forces/TNI. There are 88.4% of 19 – 44 years; 50.4% with normal BMI, and 49.6% overweight/obese; 49.6% civilian and 50.4% TNI; 70.2% with total tear, and the rest was partial tear of participants. The data analysis indicated p-values of 0.633 for age, 0.953 for BMI, and 0.126 for occupational history concerning their association with the severity of ACL injuries. Additionally, all three variables showed Odds Ratio (OR) values greater than 1, with the OR for age being 1.608, for BMI being 1.024, and for employment history being 1.853. All of these findings suggested that there was no significant correlation between these variables and the severity of ACL injuries. Despite the lack of significant correlation, these risk factors may still increased susceptibility to severe ACL injuries.

Abstract

Consumption of fast-food is increasing rapidly, whereas fast-food does not provide enough nutrients. Probiotics contribute to optimal nutrition and health benefits. This study aims to evaluate the consumption frequency, habits, and knowledge regarding fast-food and probiotics among undergraduates. We used a face-to-face interview method to obtain the data from 405 undergraduates aged 18-24 studying in Konya, Turkey. There were 46.9% of males and 53.1% of females, with an average Body Mass Index (BMI) of 22.3±0.168 kg/m2. A difference was detected in BMI according to gender (p 0.000). There were 84% of the students consuming at least one fast food a day, and 58.5% consumed probiotics daily. Statistically, there was no significance between the frequency of fast-food (p 0.456) and probiotic (p 0.680) consumption for BMI. The fast-food knowledge scores differ according to BMI (p 0.004). Probiotic knowledge scores of the overweight and obese group were lower than the other groups. A negative correlation between fast-food knowledge and BMI was (R2 - 0.011). A positive correlation between probiotic knowledge and BMI was (R2 0.034). Undergraduates consumed fast-food at high frequency, and they also know about probiotics. Nevertheless, the level of knowledge about both fast food and probiotics should be increased.

Abstract

Green tea leaf (Camellia sinensis) extract contains polyphenols, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic agents that may effectively to as keloid therapy. This study aims to examine the effect of green tea leaf extract on viability, apoptosis, and interleukin-6 expression in keloid fibroblasts. Keloid fibroblast cultures were divided into groups that were cultivated with green tea extract at dosages of 100, 200, 400, and 800 μg/mL, negative control (10% Fetal Bovine Serum/FBS), and positive control (100 μM dexamethasone). This study used post-test-only control group design. The highest mean IL-6 expression was in the GTE 200 (275,942.7 pg/mL), while the lowest was in the GTE 800 ( -2,890.6 pg/mL). The viability and apoptosis was analized by using one-way ANOVA, continued with Least Significant Difference (LSD) with a significance of p 0.05 in the GTE 800 treatment group compared to the entire intervention group. Kruskal-Wallis followed by a Mann-Whitney was carried out for interleukin-6 (IL-6) with a significance of p 0.05 in the extract therapy group at dosages of 200, 400, 800 μg/ml and 100 μM dexamethasone. In conclusion, green tea leaf extract at 800 μg/ml could reduce viability interleukin-6 expression and increase apoptotic caspase-3 expression in keloid fibroblast cells.

Abstract

High salt intake, one of the modifiable unhealthy eating habits, causes important health problems such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, osteoporosis, and kidney diseases. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of educational intervention on university students' salt-related knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP). This intervention study was carried out at Selcuk University in Türkiye. A total of 30 students were included in this intervention study carried out using the pretest-posttest control group experimental model. The educational intervention consisting of 14 sessions was completed in six weeks. The salt intake of male students in the experimental group in the pre-test and the control group in the pre-test and post-test was found to be significantly higher than that of female students (p 0.05). The mean daily salt intake in the experimental group compared to the pre-test decreased by about 1,834 mg after intervention (p 0.05). There was a significant difference (p 0.05) between the knowledge and attitude pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group students. The intervention study positively affected the students' salt-related KAP. In order for this effect to continue for a lifetime, educational interventions should be reproducible and sustainable.

Abstract

Myxomas are common benign cardiac tumors that can cause life-threatening events. A case of left atrial myxoma, which induced acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and stroke, is very rare. Patient with concomitant cardiac disease and stroke have lower aerobic capacity than patients with cardiac disease or stroke alone. Here, we report a case presented on 41 years old male patient who diagnosed acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and ischemic stroke (IS) which were induced by left atrial myxoma. He came for phase II cardiac rehabilitation (CR) after underwent surgery with fatigue complaint when he walked more than 500 meters and climbed one floor of stairs. A four weeks comprehensive CR was given to this patient, including a supervised high-intensity interval training (HIIT), thrice a week. This report showed that HIIT can improves functional capacity (FC) and quality of life in patients who suffered left atrial myxoma which induced AMI and IS.

Abstract

Since dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) can cause liver damage, aminotransferase levels as liver function test may be useful in predicting the severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between transaminase enzyme levels and the severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever. This study used analytic observational approach with cross-sectional design. The data used was secondary data, namely medical records of H. Adam Malik Hospital and Hospital of Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis University of North Sumatera. From a total of 65 patients included, there were 63.1% (41 patients) with DHF grade 1, 29.2% (19 patients) were DHF grade 2, 6.2% (4 patients) were DHF grade 3 and 1.5% (1 medical record) were DHF grade 4. For aminotransferase level 56.9% (37 records) had elevated SGPT levels and 92.3% (60 records) had elevated SGOT levels, it was found that there was no relationship between increased levels of SGPT and SGOT with the severity of DHF (SGPT p = 0.628 and SGOT p = 1.00). There is no association between the elevations of transaminase enzyme levels and the severity of DHF.

Abstract

Quality of Life (QoL) for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients is important. This study aims to analyze the religiosity and family support on the QoL for AMI patients. This study uses quantitative observational analytical methods with a cross-sectional design. Total sampling of data was collected by paying attention to the sample criteria at Roemani Hospital of the 74 respondents, inclusion was found to be 46 respondents.  The study instrument used a Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) to religiosity level, Saragih family support questionnaire to assess family support as a variable independent. MacNew Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) to assess quality of life as a dependent variable.  Analyzed data using tests rank Spearman. It was found that 80.43% of respondents had a high level of religiosity, 17.39% moderate, and 2.17% poor. There were 80.43% of respondents had good family support, and 19.57 % sufficient. Respondents had good QoL (78.26%), and poor (21.74%). These results showed that the religiosity level correlated with the QoL for AMI patients (p=0.000; r=+0.934). Family support correlated with the quality of life of AMI (p=0.000; r=+0.936). The higher religiosity level and family support, the higher the QoL for AMI patients. So, the patient must increase the level of religiosity and their families should be more supportive to improve QoL.
