Abstract

The understanding of material values can influence the strength of one's faith and belief in a situationthat can cause someone to no longer acknowledge the existence of God. The purpose of this research is to describe and interpret the inner struggle of the main character, Karman, in the novel Kubah by Ahmad Tohari. This type of research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. The data obtainedin the form of written words related to the structure and religious values contained in the novel Kubah by Ahmad Tohari. Sources of data in this study are the novel Kubah by Ahmad Tohari and other referencesfrom other books and articles that are relevant to the research. The data collection technique used in thisresearch is the documentation technique. The inner struggle with little faith remaining describes how a central figure returns to his original beliefs and doubts whether the main character will be acceptedin his community or not. Analysis and intrinsic elements of religious value contained in the novel can be identified from the behavior of the characters in the story.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the power of money politics conducted by elite and middle social classes in the form of hegemony. The hegemony that occurs in the novel Namaku Subardjo y Hapsari Hanggarini is a total or integral hegemony without coercion. Hegemony occurs because the main character never realizes that he is a hegemony by his employees. Uniquely, Jojo's employees were hegemony by his party's acquaintances. The object of research or data source is the novel Namaku Subardjo by Hapsari Hanggarini. Data is obtained from sentences or dialogues, units of stories that lead to social class and money politics. The research procedures carried out are: 1) reading the novel as a whole, 2) collecting and making data sources, 3) inventing data based on theory, 4) analyzing data and interpreting data. Discussion of the data in the form of description. The instrument used was researchers who were assisted with books and other supporting media. The discussion in the novel is that there are social classes that influence hegemony, namely high and middle social classes. Money politics happens in the novel without violence and volunteers to do it. The strong hegemony that is done, makes the main character does not stop to do money politics.

Abstract

In the latest decade sociolinguistics scholars have developed a special field of study that concerned to the use of language in public spaces, called linguistic landscape (LL). Many scholars believe research on LL still requires a lot of theoretical and methodological development because LL field varied, complex, rapidly developing and there are shifts between different idea settings. As a consequence LL became highly inter-disciplinary research domain which dealt with written signs in public spaces from many different perspective. This article propose critical linguistic landscape studies as an alternative concept aimed to examining the using of language sign in public spaces, particularly concern in the study of critical discourse. This concept is unique because moving on beyond the tendency of many earlier LL works which still trapped in the distributional level of analysis language sign in public space, so that this LL studies need seeks to enter productive aspects of using language signs in public space as a text at interpretative level. This is library research which is designed as descriptive qualitative study, as well-known as theoretical review. The technique used in exploring the ideas is comparative material base on early work of LL studies. The primary sources of this study are research reports, journals, books and other scientific papers discussed about LL, that represent original thinking

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of knowledge paragraphs to the writing skills of argumentation. Because at the moment it looks that the knowledge of Grammar or paragraph less attention in writing. Though good writing was also seen from Grammar or knowledge of the paragraphs is good also. While the argument writing skills, students are still difficulties in providing opinions or opinions and Actual phenomena occurring at present. This research method using a descriptive correlational design. This study population is students of Indonesian Education 20016/2017 BP totaling 30 people. Based on the research that the average knowledge of the paragraph is 32.25. And the contribution of knowledge to the writing skills of argument paragraph by 12%. It can be concluded that the knowledge paragraphs affect student writing skills arguments the Indonesian Education Studies Program University of Bung Hatta, but knowledge of the paragraph is very less seen than the class average.

Abstract

This study discusses analysis  in Barasuara Band by   Iga Dada Yudhistira Massardi  song lyrics collection and its implications for learning Indonesian in senior high school. From the analysis, there are several songs in the lyrics containing literary ecocritical values, regarding environmental and natural damage due to human actions. The purpose of this study is to describe the literary ecocritical value contained in the collection of Barasuara's song lyrics, in the form of ecocritical values about pollution, natural disasters, housing, and the earth, and its implications for learning Indonesian in senior high school. The approach used is a qualitative approach using content analysis methods while the data collection technique uses documentation study or literature review, in this case the study of the Barasuara Band Song Lyrics Collection is the main data source in research. The data used in this study are the findings of quotations in a collection of song lyrics by  Iga Dada Yudhistira Massardi : 1) Guna Manusia, 2) Tentukan Arah, 3) Barat, 4) Haluan, 5) Tarintih, 6) Pikiran dan Perjalanan, and 7) Mengunci Ingatan which contains a literary ecocritical value. Data collection techniques using documentation study or literature review. Barasuara song lyrics is the main data source in the research. The results of the study found that twenty-six literary ecocritical values contained in the song lyrics collection by the Barasuara band included the values of pollution, dwelling, apocalypse, and the earth. From these findings, this collection of songs can be applied and can be used as teaching material in Indonesian language learning in senior high school class X semester 2 with learning material for poetry musicalization  KD 3. 16       and 4. 16.

Abstract

Minangkabau is a territory situated in West Sumatra Indonesia. The history of Minangkabau comes from an oral tradition which is then written and known as "Tambo". Many oral stories that appear in Minangkabau contain human values, for example the story of Malin Kundang which gives human values to be obedient to parents. Through this research, oral stories were collected from informants and written in the form of illustrated books. This study specifically collects children oral stories of Minangkabau, then analyzed, and made into a illustrated story book, because it is feared that these oral stories would disappear along with the death of the informants. These stories are written in the Minang language so that the young generation and children will keep maintaining and understanding the Minang language in daily life. Through the creative industry, oral stories are packaged into illustrated story books in Minang language. The benefit is that Minang children who live in Minang or beyond its areas will hopefully understand and can use the Minang language properly. The approach used in this research is the folklore approach by collecting stories spoken in the Minangkabau community that have not been written yet.

Abstract

The linguistic forensic is one of the branches of applied linguistics related to the law i.e. language as proof in civil case or. One form of the linguistic phenomenon that is used as a tool of investigation evidence of verbal crimes is the use of the word cuss. The use of the word cuss is one of the linguistic evidence that can have a different meaning depending on the context that is behind it. The focus of this study is to identify linguistic texts containing the word that potentials affect the law. This study aims to uncover the implicit meaning of the word and describe the use of negative connotations that can lead to conflicts and legal cases. The forensic linguistic approach method is a method of implementing languages that can solve language-based problems in various legal contexts. The results of this study show that forensic linguistics on the analysis of the linguistic structure of the phrase in semantic terms, pragmatic and analysis of discourse relating to the legal texts can be utilized by the judge or the police to uncover the truth and know the violation of verbal crimes such as hate speech, humiliation, or defamation.

Abstract

A constellation of arguments is present in each component of a journal article. Understanding the constellation of arguments in such journal articles is important because they will directly affect the writing of journal articles. This study aims to describe the constellation of arguments in the structure of the intended journal article. Data were collected by the observation method. The technique used in the framework of applying the method of referencing was a competent free observation technique. The next technique is note-taking. Data validation is done theoretically by confirming the available data on the theories. Also, validation is carried out to experts who master the matters of argument. The data validation was done after the data had been classified and verified. The data analysis method applied in this research is the method of distribution or distribution. The technique applied is a technique for direct elements.The data analysis method applied was the content analysis method. The results of the analysis were presented with informal presentation techniques. This research had produced the findings of the constellation of arguments in sections of journal articles. The parts of the journal article that may be present in the argument are in the following sections: (1) background, (2) literature review, (3) method, and (4) discussion. There is no argument in the conclusion section of the paper.

Abstract

The process of interaction should encompass good ethicand behavior asboth ethic and behavior are involved as controlsinperforming actions or utteringwords when interacting with others. Interaction in society can be used as an indicator to measure one's nationalistic attitude. The purpose of this research is to describe the tendency of the main character's behavior in their social interaction with other characters and examine both good and bad impacts received by the main character as a reflection of how to be socially friendly as stated in the novel How to Love Indonesia in the context of realizing the attitude of millennial generation nationalism. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research was the novel ‘How to Love Indonesia’ by Buma M. Sembiring. The research data were in the forms of units of stories or quotations in the novel. The data collection techniques comprised the stages of reading, recording, and analysis. The Sociology of Literature approach was carried out to analyze the data. The findings of this study described various behavioral tendencies of the main character in their social interaction. Politeness, not underestimating others, respecting the feelings of others, being humble, honesty and not offending others are behavior that any person needs to uphold  in order to be accepted by the community, as well as an indicator of the nationalism of figures as a millennial generation.

Abstract

Thai student responses to Indonesian online learning with native speakers. The problem in this research is how Thai learners respond to learning Indonesian (BIPA) online with native speakers. And how is the online learning process provided by teachers and guest lecturers from STKIP PGRI West Sumatra, UPI Language Center, BPK Penabur School with the theme of learning is about introductions, family, and about the song Indonesia Raya. The purpose of conducting this research is to obtain an overview of how the response of Thai learners who study at NU to learning Indonesian online taught by natives. The method in this study uses two forms of research methods, namely the first library research method and the second with descriptive analysis with the technique used is to observe and give questionnaires to respondents and teachers about how to respond and their satisfaction in learning Indonesian natively. . The results show that this learning process improves Indonesian learning outcomes and increases the number of vocabulary it gets. As well as the response of Thai students who interact with natives shows the character of speaking well, by repeating the same theme twice at different times to practice speaking with Indonesians
