Abstract

This writing will discuss how QS An-Nisa verse 3 is understood by two modern Minangkabau scholars who are different, namely Syeikh Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli and Buya Hamka. The purpose of this research is to find out the differences in the interpretation of these two scholars, who each have different socio-historical backgrounds. This research is a library research using comparative analysis method and sociological approach. The results show that there is a difference in the interpretation of polygamy by these two scholars. Syeikh Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli tends to connect the text with the cultural context in society, while Buya Hamka prefers to criticize culture in his interpretation. This is caused by several factors, including the personal experiences of each scholar. In addition, Ar-Rasuli is a polygamist, while Hamka does not do it due to personal experience related to his parents' marriage.

Abstract

An understanding of mental health cannot be separated from an idea of being healthy and sick both physically and spiritually. Various studies have revealed that there is a relationship between physical and mental health, where individuals who are calm and peaceful inside tend to have a positive effect on mental health. That will be the important point in this paper. By using the type of library research, this study focuses on two forms of data, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained from psychological and Islamic literature regarding mental health. While secondary data is obtained by looking at the verses of the Qur'an which discuss mental health. The core study in this article discusses two different concepts of mental health; first is the concept of a healthy soul in the psychological aspect called "Mental Health" and the second is the concept of a healthy mind in the religious aspect called "Nafsul Muthmainnah". Both of them show their interrelationships to realize mental health. The concept of Integration-Interconnection initiated by Amin Abdullah is applied in this study to link psychological studies with Islamic studies which focus on the concept of mental health. The results of this study have given birth to a new term called "Religious Mental Health".

Abstract

This article explores the identity of Turkey's Nurcu Islamic movement. The movement was born in the midst of a harsh competition between the secular Kemalists and the political Islamists of Milli Gorus. The Nurcu movement redefined and reorganized aspects of modernization in Turkey. The Nurcu movement sought to integrate modernity and tradition. Education was the method for this integration. Modernization was put into action without sacrificing the nation's culture which was built on the Islamic foundation. Nurcu played the role of a moderate Islam. It takes part in the socio-political sphere in Turkey. During this study, I visited several Nurcu movement offices in Jakarta, Tangerang and Semarang. I interviewed a number of Nurcu movement activists, and I observed the movement's activities closely. For reading the collected data, I used the Marxian structural paradigm during which I took into account the social, political and economic context that surrounds it. This article assumes that the Nurcu movement's activities reflect a cultural movement.

Abstract

Abstract

This research presents the philological study's findings on Islamic manuscripts discovered on the slopes of Kawi Mountain in Malang, East Java. The study employs a manuscript research method focusing on codicological aspects and the diplomatic method to preserve authenticity. Eight Islamic manuscripts were categorized into originals with identifiable titles, manuscripts without titles, and hand-copied versions by Anut Ekowiyono. These manuscripts are written in the new Javanese language, utilizing various krama-ngoko styles and the Arabic Pegon script. Inadequate philological treatment resulted in damage to Anut Ekowiyono's collection. After codicological examination, the texts were accurately identified, showing differences from their previous state. The research suggests the likelihood of more undiscovered Islamic manuscripts in the area. The study sheds light on the linguistic and historical importance of these Islamic texts, emphasizing the need for preservation and further exploration of undiscovered manuscripts in the region.

Abstract

This paper discusses the dynamics of the Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah organization of North Sumatra Indonesia in the past, today and in the future. Al Washliyah is a organization that was born, raised and developed in the city of Medan, inseparable from the influence of the clergy and experiencing various dynamics. The results of this paper are: That Al Wasliyah has great scholars who contribute to providing understanding and enlightenment in the field of religion for the people of North Sumatra. With the age of entering a century, Al Washliyah must be aware of the scarcity of scholars that occur in the midst of its organization. It has become an obligation for Al Washliyah to move quickly to carry out the maintenance of its clerical curriculum if it does not want to be left behind and lose its clerical traditions.
