Abstract

This research aims to estimate income, return-cost ratio (R/C ratio) and input optimization of Sarjana Membangun Desa Wirausahawan Pendamping (SMDWP) assited beef cattle farmers in Tasikmalaya District with different business systems, mainly to observe internalization of externalities by integrating waste management system into their business system. Data collection was conducted in September and October 2016 at SMDWP asissited beef cattle farmers groups in Tasikmalaya District. Quantitative reseach, in which the data were analyzed with statistical analysis by calculating the average income, R/C ratio and Cobb Douglass regression function to observe input optimization. Data collection conducted by census. The results of this research suggest that the highest income estimation and R/C ratio was beef cattle fattening farmers with integrated waste management system which cattle ownership is above 5 AU more, which is Rp.10.275.000 /month and 2,301 respectively. The lowest income estimation and R/C ratio was beef cattle breeding farmers without integrated waste management system which cattle ownership between 3-4 AU, which is Rp.454.127/month and 1,125 respectively. Factors that technically affect the production function was the amount of forages, amount of concentrate feeds, initial cattle weight, cattle breeds. Input application in the beef cattle farming at SMDWP fostered beef cattle farmers groups in Tasikmalaya District are not optimized, which is the amount of forages, amount of concentrate feeds, and initial cattle weight.

Abstract

Enhancement beef population could be conducted using the MOET (multiple ovulation, the embryo transfer). This method is done to ensure the quality of embryos have high production. Determination of embryo quality on this method gave fed with 15%-20% protein levels. This research was aim to evaluate influenced of different gave fed againt different breed. The evaluation was done by observing at the influence of the environment against the production of embryos. The assessment was conducted using factorial design experiment. The evaluation results showed average production of embryos in different breeds was not significant (P>0.05) influence to embryo quality quality. An important factor for obtaining the production of viable embryo transfer were not  linked to individual breeds

Abstract

The consumer perceptions upon meats from buffalo and cattle may vary due to differences in their physical and microanatomycal characteristics. This study was aimed at comparing physical (pH, water holding capacity, tenderness, and cooking loss) and histology (muscle fibre surface, muscle bundle area, sum of muscle/ muscle bundle, muscle area/ musle bundle, distance between muscle bundle and connective tissue/ muscle bundle) of meat for buffalo and cattle aging I1 and I4 dentition. The collected data was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Further differences between  treatments were tested using Least Squared Mean (Lsmean). The results showed that buffalo and cattle meat have physical and histology characteristics has significantly (P <0.05). It is found that buffalo meat has lower water holding capacity and tenderness, and coarser texture compare to cattle at either I1 and I4 dentition.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to assess test interval method for estimation of milk yield of Friesian Holstein Breed in tropical condition for alternative selection in herd. Purposive sampling method was used in this research. Milk yield data were collected base on daily yield from 3 heads lactating cows. Estimated milk yield from test interval method and actual milk yield were analyzed using statistical correlation analysis. The results showed that estimated milk yield significantly correlated (P<0.01) to actual milk yield (r = 0.991). The estimation of milk yield of individual cows was lower or higher than that of their actual milk yield at 305 days never more than that of 0.29 to 0.79 %. It was concluded that test interval methodcould be used accurately to estimate milk yield and in addition could be used for selection of Friesian Holstein Breed in wet tropic area

Abstract

Abattoir categories I and II have different handling processes, abattoir category I without chilling facilites to produce hot carcass and abattoir category 2 with chilling facilities to produce chilled carcass . The objective of this study was to analyze the added value generated in abattoir category I and in abattoir category II, as well as to analyze the factors that affect the amount of added value. This study calculated the amount of added value that abattoir Category I and II could create using Hayami Method. The obtained results showed that abattoir category II produced added value of Rp 44 358 and Rp 45 489 per 1 kg of carcass and Rp 6 552 and Rp 7 022 per 1 kg edible offal, while in abattoir category I the produced added value was much lower that is equal to Rp 25 924 and Rp 25 072 per 1 kg carcass and Rp 3 097 and Rp 4 361 per 1 kg edible offal. The difference of this added value was caused by several factors, one of the most influential factor was the selling price of the product value, in abattoir category II there wasa process of foraging meat (chilling), cooling and packaging of meat divided into Prime Cut, Secondary Cut , Bone, and By Product.

Abstract

Broiler chicken had a great performance with unique characteristics like rapid growth, had a thick meat, and also had a relatively short breeding time. The breeding management became one of the farmers key success in describing their management system effectively. One of the management function was the evaluation, thus the research purpose was to evaluate the performance of partnership farmers as the partner of PT XYZ. This research was using the observation and interview methods to the company’s side and also the ones who was involved in the farmers performance evaluation process. The data that was used in this research was the secondary data that was gathered from the company’s yearly report, and was seen  by the farmers index performance (IP). This study took 36 breeders as the sample, 216 periods in 2017 for 6 production cycles. Data were analyzed using a control chart. Data analysis indicates IP Score less than 300 goes to underperformed, 301-325 is considered enough, while a score of 326 - 350 goes to good. As for great and outstanding there are no farmers yet in those segments. The highest IP score for partnership farmers is 335 and the lowest was 277. Partnership farmers in category "enough" are 69,44%, "good" 11,11% and "underperformed" 10,44%. Upper Control Limit (UCL) is 344,36 and Low Control Limit (LCL) is 278,65 wit Mean value of 311,50. There are two points less than LCL, in 19th  and 210th points, scoring 277 and 278.
