Abstract

This article discusses the Islamic education paradigm and the cultivation of moderate Islamic character as a response to the challenges of radicalism and to maintain harmony between nations. The method used is a literature study, utilizing similar studies in other articles as data. The educational paradigm has evolved in every milieu, necessitating both cooperative and competitive attitudes. Various educational paradigms now experience tug-of-war, conflicts, and even hegemony according to the nature of the globalization era. Paradigms significantly influence the education system itself, serving as its spirit and conceptual framework. Neil Postman acknowledges paradigms as narrative mediums continuously shaping human history and the future. Education paradigms are essential comprehensive perspectives underlying educational system designs. From the Islamic perspective, education in line with human nature is crucial for fulfilling human functions, roles, and existential essence before Allah. Islamic education plays a vital role in family foundations, shaping moral behavior, fostering belief in Allah, and serving as the primary foundation for moral education in Indonesian society. Given the prevalent societal tensions, particularly interfaith and intergroup conflicts, studying Islamic Education Paradigms to strengthen moderate Islamic character becomes imperative to counter radicalism and maintain harmony domestically and globally. Various paradigms exist, including Formist, Mechanistic, and Organic paradigms, each with its distinct characteristics and implications. Promoting moderate Islamic behavior involves fostering acceptance of diversity, leveraging competent resources, and partnering with parents and positive environments to nurture children's moderate attitudes. In conclusion, understanding and addressing educational paradigms are essential in enhancing moderate Islamic values and fostering societal harmony amid diversity.

Abstract

This article discusses the nature of humans as social beings in the Islamic perspective and its implications for Islamic education. Humans are viewed as social beings who cannot live in isolation, as explained in the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In the context of Islamic education, this understanding forms a strong foundation for designing curricula and teaching methods that align with human nature. Humans possess several essential values, including spirit, body, soul, heart, and intellect, all of which play crucial roles in human life and their relationship with their social environment. The implications of this view on Islamic education emphasize the need to build awareness of the importance of healthy social interactions, effective communication, and cooperation in building a just and prosperous society. Islamic education should also integrate religious values into every aspect of learning, including through a holistic approach that encompasses character formation and social skills. Furthermore, the article highlights the need for dialogue and critical reflection on contemporary social issues in the context of Islamic education. Thus, understanding the nature of humans as social beings and its implications for Islamic education is crucial in preparing morally upright Muslim generations capable of making positive contributions to an increasingly complex society. Through a holistic and contextual approach, Islamic education can play a significant role in shaping individuals who are competitive, empathetic, and responsible in facing the challenges of the times.

Abstract

Evaluation of learning is crucial in education to measure student achievement and provide feedback to students and educators. Evaluation must adhere to the principles of comprehensiveness, continuity, and objectivity. One method to assess learning quality is through the end-of-semester examination (PAS). This research highlights the importance of Moderate Order Thinking Skills (MOTS) in developing students' cognitive abilities, particularly in Arabic language learning. MOTS helps students understand and apply lesson content. This study analyzes Arabic PAS questions for eighth-grade students at MTs Ittihad Samarinda based on MOTS. The research aims to evaluate PAS question quality and provide a basis for future improvements, enhancing the quality of Arabic learning. A descriptive qualitative approach is used to understand phenomena deeply. The content analysis method is applied to relevant documents and records. The primary data source is Arabic PAS questions for the 2023/2024 academic year at MTs Ittihad Samarinda, collected through documentation and interviews. Analysis of 40 PAS questions shows 32.5% are LOTS, 57.5% are MOTS, and 10% are HOTS, focusing on Arabic syntax and vocabulary. This suggests PAS questions are geared towards understanding and application (MOTS) rather than analysis and evaluation (HOTS). Future PAS question development should balance LOTS and MOTS for junior high school level to improve assessment quality.

Abstract

Reading intensity helps strengthen and maximize the positive effects of both factors, so that students can achieve better Qur'an reading skills. Without high reading intensity, the influence of classical strategies and self-intelligence may not be fully effective in improving students' Qur'an reading skills. This study aims to explore the role of reading intensity in mediating the influence of classical strategies and self-intelligence on Qur'an reading skills. The method used in this study was purposive sampling with random sampling method. The sample taken was 103 students at Madrasah Diniyah SMP PGRI Selur. The analysis in this study used PLS-SEM which aims to analyze data and test contextual models. From the results of the analysis, classical strategies do not have a significant effect on students' reading intensity and Qur'an reading skills. From the results of this study, it was found that the most determining factor in improving students' Qur'an reading skills is self-awareness of 88.90%. Based on these results, reading intensity does mediate the influence of self-intelligence on Qur'an reading skills and does not mediate classical strategies on Qur'an reading skills. This study provides an overview of how students' ability to read the Qur'an can be improved through their own intelligence and is also influenced by the level of reading intensity. Thus, this study can provide an in-depth overview of the influence of internal and external factors that can affect the level of success in improving each student's ability to read the Qur'an.

Abstract

Slang is a form of language, expressions, or specialized language usage commonly found in informal conversations, particularly within specific groups. Fathia Izzati, known as "kittendust," is a YouTube content creator with 695,000 subscribers. In her YouTube account, Fathia uploads videos related to English language learning terms in daily life, often incorporating slang words. This research aims to comprehend the meanings and processes of word formation in slang used by Fathia Izzati in her videos. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative, referencing George Yule's (2010) theories on slang word formation processes. Data were obtained from 15 videos uploaded by Fathia Izzati between November 2021 and December 2022. The findings reveal that out of Yule's ten slang and word formation theories, only five are reflected in the analyzed videos. Blending emerges as the most common method for creating new words, constituting 39.24% of all new terms. Other prevalent methods include doubling (34.18%) and halving (18.99%). Clipping accounts for 5.06%, while acronyms are the least common, comprising only 2.53%. This research provides insights into the use of slang by Fathia Izzati within the context of English language learning on YouTube.

Abstract

This research explores the dual functionality of Imla' as both a writing skill and an innovative memorization method. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study delves into the utilization of Imla' in recording Quranic verses or Hadiths, extending beyond its conventional role in writing skills. The findings reveal that Imla', when integrated into the memorization process, triggers cognitive recording as the teacher recites, mirroring the stages of general Imla'. Success in this method is gauged through fluency, accuracy, and the time required for memorization. While offering advantages such as expedited memorization, the research also acknowledges limitations, emphasizing the need for careful consideration of its suitability across diverse groups and ages. The study's implications underscore the nuanced application of Imla' in educational settings, urging educators to weigh the method's benefits and drawbacks. Recommendations include tailored implementation based on learner characteristics. The research contributes to the understanding of pedagogical approaches within the Quran-Hadith subject, emphasizing the broader utility of Imla' beyond conventional writing skills. Overall, this work enriches educational discourse and provides valuable insights for curriculum development and instructional practices
