Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the STEAM-based learning approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) on the topic of renewable energy in improving high school students' conceptual understanding. Using an embedded mixed methods design, quantitative data were collected through pretests and post-tests, while qualitative data were obtained through observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The research subjects consisted of 36 tenth-grade students at SMAN 2 Blitar. The analysis results showed a significant improvement in students' conceptual understanding scores following the implementation of STEAM-based learning. Additionally, students demonstrated increased engagement, motivation, and creativity, as well as critical and collaborative thinking skills. However, this study also revealed several challenges in implementing STEAM, such as time constraints, teacher preparedness, assessment issues, and limited facilities and resources. These findings confirm that although STEAM is effective in enhancing the quality of learning, its implementation requires systematic planning, adequate teacher training, and sufficient infrastructure support to optimize student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Learning in the 21st century creates real changes in the world of education that focus on the learning process. One of the skills that students must have in the 21st century is collaborative skills. The learning model that can develop collaborative skills is the 3D media-based Project Based Learning model. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Project Based Learning model based on 3D media on collaborative skills in biology learning. The novelty of this research is the use of a Project-Based Learning model based on 3D media. The type of research used in this research is quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was Random Sampling, with class XI.1 as the experimental class and class XI.3 as the control class. The data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observations, documentation, and pretest-posttest sheets of collaborative skills questionnaire. The results showed that there was an effect of 3D media-based Project Based Learning model on collaborative skills in biology learning, this can be seen from the One-Way Anacova test analysis of collaborative skills with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to implement a DBUS (Discovery-Based Unity of Science) based animal structure and function e-module using the Book-Creator platform. The research method used is a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design and sampling determined through a purposive sampling technique. The subjects of this study were 2nd-semester students of the Science Education study program at Tidar University. Data were obtained using critical thinking test instruments, which were then analyzed using the normality test, t-paired test, and N-Gain test. The results showed that the implementation of DBUS-based e-modules was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, with an average N-Gain score in the experimental class of 0.63 with a medium category and 0.17 for the control class with a low category

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the Design Thinking integrated PJBL model, analyze differences in increasing students' creative thinking abilities, and analyze student responses. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique used was random sampling, using class X7 as the experiment and class X3 as the control. Data collection techniques use observation sheets, tests, and questionnaires. The research results show that implementing PJBL-Design Thinking can improve students' creative thinking abilities. This is proven by the assessment of student learning activities, which always increase at each stage, reaching 87% with very good criteria. There was a difference in the increase in students' creative thinking in the experimental and control classes; the average N-Gain indicator for the experimental class was obtained on average at 0.72 in the high category. Student responses to PjBL-Design Thinking learning obtained an average percentage of 80% with good criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on students' mathematical representation abilities. The population in this study consists of all eighth-grade students at UPT SMP Negeri 1 Gading Rejo during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample was selected using the cluster random sampling technique, resulting in 30 students from class VIII-A as the experimental group and 29 students from class VIII-D as the control group. This research is a quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest control group design. Data were collected through a mathematical representation ability test. The data analysis technique employed in this study was the t-test. The results indicate that the improvement in students' mathematical representation abilities in the discovery learning model is greater than that of students who received conventional instruction. Thus, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model influences students' mathematical representation abilities.

Abstract

This study uses a literature review to examine the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in enhancing students' academic performance in chemistry education. Chemistry education frequently faces challenges due to its abstract content and disconnection from students' everyday experiences, which affect their comprehension and result in learning scores that remain below the KKM. The PjBL framework, as a learning innovation, provides a blend of theory and practice that enhances conceptual understanding, boosts critical thinking, fosters creativity, and increases student motivation. The research approach employs a systematic literature review by examining 25 pertinent articles that address the implementation of PjBL in chemistry education. The research findings indicate that the PjBL model effectively enhances student learning outcomes, critical thinking, creativity, and the connection between chemistry content and everyday life. PjBL enhances students' enthusiasm for learning and collaboration, offering a more engaging and significant educational experience. The Project-Based Learning model holds significant promise for enhancing the quality of chemistry education in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop innovative learning media utilizing 3D Augmented Reality (AR) technology based on mathematical investigation to enhance student motivation in studying calculus. The research follows the Research and Development (R&D) method, adopting the 4D model which includes four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Data collection involved validity, practicality, and effectiveness test instruments. The results indicate: (1) the validity of the media, evaluated by three expert validators, achieved an average score of 4.5933, categorized as very valid; (2) the practicality, based on student responses after using the media, reached an average of 92.27% across assessed aspects; and (3) the effectiveness test, through a comparison of pretest and posttest scores using a paired t-test and n-gain analysis, showed a learning outcome improvement with a gain score of 48.9429%. The developed media successfully integrates calculus concepts with interactive and immersive visualizations through 3D AR, offering students the opportunity to explore mathematical concepts more intuitively and engagingly. This approach demonstrates promising potential in increasing motivation and improving learning outcomes in calculus education.

Abstract

The Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model has been widely applied in biology learning to encourage students' science process skills. However, the extent of its contribution to improving science process skills has not been thoroughly summarized. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of the PjBL model on science process skills using a meta-analysis. Through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA approach, seven journal articles and theses were selected that met the inclusion criteria. The effect size for each study was calculated using Cohen's d. The analysis showed that all studies had very large effect sizes, ranging from 1.67 to 5.35. This finding indicates that PjBL consistently improves science process skills such as observing, classifying, predicting, measuring, inferring, and communicating. The syntax of PjBL, which involves real, structured activities, also optimally supports the development of these skills. Thus, PjBL can be recommended as an effective learning approach to improve students' science process skills in biology.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning model with an Ethno-STEM approach in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. This research employed a quantitative method using a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, with sample selection conducted through purposive sampling. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. The research subjects were eighth-grade students, assigned to an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through critical thinking skill tests in the form of essay questions administered before and after the treatment. The results of the independent sample t-test (0.001 < 0.05) indicate a significant difference in students’ critical thinking skills between the experimental and control groups. The N-Gain analysis shows that the increase in critical thinking skills in the experimental class (0.50) was higher than in the control class (0.34). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning model with an Ethno-STEM approach is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.
