Abstract

This research relates to the implimentation of STAD model in State Senior High School 2 (SMAN 2) Tanjung. The research objective is to increase the students’ learning activity and teacher’ activity quality as well as to increase the students’ achievment on hydrolysis salt material. The research is based on the classroom action research (CAR) through 2 cycles. The research subject is 33 students of second class majoring on natural science in SMAN 2 Tanjung. The data collection used students’ and the teacher’s activity obeservation sheets as well as achievment result. The data were qualitatively analyzed with percentage technique. The result of research stated that (1) students’ activity underwent progress in the first cycle and that described 10 activities that achieve the activeness percentage, namely more than 85%, whereas in the second cycle students’ activity turned into 14 activities; (2) the quality of teacher’s activity was higher or 80,7% in the second cycle than in the first cyle, namely 79,5%; and (3) the completeness of students’ learning increased from 73% into 91%. The group’s score increased in the first cycle; there were not groups that had super quality, but there was 1 group that had great quality in the second cycle.

Abstract

This research focuses on the effect of teachers’ high income (teachers’ sertificate) for English teachers to increase the quality of teaching in the classroom. It is found that the teachers with sertificate in Banjarbaru always-often (<60%) try to understand the students’ potency and characteristics. Generally, teachers in state junior high school, state senior high school, and vocational high school have mastered the theories and the principles of teaching effectively. However, the advantage of high income from teachers’ sertificate does not give the positive effect to increase their capacities as professional teachers. The consciousness of teachers’ performance after getting high income from teachers’ sertificate is not relatively satisfying. The teacher’s performance to take part in education and training and to buy complementary books for capacity building is not satisfying.

Abstract

This study were purposed to know the procedures of discussion technique and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of discussion technique when it was used to teach speaking. The research was a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the research was the eighth grade students of MTSM 3 Al-Furqon Banjarmasin. The data were taken from observation, field notes and the interview. Further, the data were analyzed qualitatively. It was found that the implementation of discussion technique in teaching speaking was suitable with the procedures of discussion technique based on the theories. There were five stages that were implemented during teaching speaking using this technique and those procedures covered learning activities and students’ tasks to develope students’ pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and expression. The implementation of this technique gave strenghts and weaknesses. The strenghts were: 1) discussion technique could promote students’ speaking skil, 2) discussion technique could improve the class condition, and 3) discussion technique could improve the students’ participation in the speaking activities. While the weaknesess were: 1) some of students tended to be out of the tasks, and 2) teacher got difficulties to manage the time during discussion. In conclusion, the procedure of discusion techique was implemented properly and this technique gave more strenghts than weaknesess.

Abstract

The student’s interest in learning Tsunami material in SMK Banua Lawas 1 is low, therefore it is below the standard classical completeness. This study aims to (1) Improve student comprehension, (2) Enhance the ability of the students argued, (3) Knowing the students’ responses. Research design used a class action research with 2 cycles. The subjects were 29 students of grade XC SMK 1 Banua Lawas, Tabalong. The research instrument is observation sheet, questionnaire responses and student achievement test. Results showed (1) student comprehension increases from 68.1 in the first cycle to 81.72 in the second cycle. Mastery learning classical increases from 62.10% in the first cycle to 96.6% in the second cycle. (2) student ability to give opinion increases from “good” category (34.5%) to “very good” category (82.8%), (3) students’ positive response increases from “very good” category (41% or 12 students ) and “good” category (59% or 17 students) into “very good” category (69% or 20 students) and “good” category (31%).

Abstract

The condition of the nation which is increasingly distant from the values of the character and culture of the nation, made the Government through Kemendikbud since 2010 launched the character education as a national movement throughout the educational level. One of the way was integration character education into learning activities. This research aimed to develop character values through learning by applying qualitative approach. The data collected by observation and interview, then analyzed by interactive models of analysis. The results showed that in the effort to develop character values, SDN Indrasari 1 Martapura has been organizing the class as well. In carrying out the process of learning, teachers use scientific approach, by involving students into the learning process through some activities such as observing, questioning, trying, reasoning, and communicating. Assessment which is conducted by teacher refers to the four core competencies, namely spiritual, social attitudes, knowledge, and skills. In carrying out the process of learning, some teachers have been successfully developed the character values such as religious character , responsibility, discipline, cooperation, accuracy, honesty and decency.

Abstract

Translating the text needs the capacity and the capability from the person who will be involved in that field. Translating does not only deals with the changing of words, phrases, sentence, and the like from the source language into target language. The activity of translating needs hermeneutics in order to get interpreting the text to be close to target language objectives. Text is not inanimate thing, but animate one that lives in its nature. Text is on the center of its readers. While being in the center of its readers, the text is doing the dialogue of meaning in inter and intra perspective.

Abstract

This research aims to develop the module of  Research Metodology especially for Class Action Research (CAR) material which is worthed and effective to increase student creativity and comprehension in Department of Physical Education Faculty of Teacher Training Education Lambung Mangkurat University. The data was analyzed by qualitative descriptive method. The result are converted by the degree of concensus; if supporting answers are selected by more than 50% respondents, the item will be kept. An item is going to be dropped, if 50% respondents reject the supporting answer. The findings show that this module; a) helps student to understand the material; b) relates the phenomena of moving activity; c) has the format that is easy to follow; d) has the sufficient procedure; (e) easy to understand (f) has meaningful and usefulness in supporting lecture; (g) improves students’ comprehension and creativity; (h) helps students to arrange class action research plan. The high of concencus degree shows that the use of this module is the best solution to cope with student problem in Research Methodology class.

Abstract

This research has the objective to find out the characteristics of earthquake so that it can be used to predict the preventive action for the people around. Based on the data analysis of earthquake in Manokwari Papua Barat, earthquake in January 3 2009 had the magnitude 7.1 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.705, longitude 132.84 and 25 km for depth.The cause of eartquake is strike-slip oblique moving to southeast, northwest. Earthquake in January 6 2009 had the magnitude 5.7 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.63, longitude 133.33 and 10 kms for depth.The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to northeast, southwest. Earthquake in August 2 2009 had the magnitude 5.9 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.444, longitude 133.06 and 10 kms for depth. The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to northeast, southwest. Earthquake in January 13 2010 had the magnitude 5.7 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.72, longitude 133.33 and 42 kms for depth. The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to orthwest, southeast.

Abstract

Harmony Education developed a model of the development process that reveals the social studies education of local cultural values   as social capital for learning in social studies education. Harmony Education developed children’s interactions at school, the child’s relationship with himself, his relationship with others, and the child’s relationship with the natural world, the so-called selfharmony, harmony fellow and harmony of nature. The goal of education is to develop the character Harmony contextual nature of the potential of humans as individuals, as well as social beings and creatures of God Almighty. This is in accordance with the Education Social Studies in school. The objective of teaching and learning achieved is to develop mutual respect, understanding, caring and sharing compassion, social responsibility, tolerance of diversity between individuals and groups (ethnic, social, cultural, religious). Harmony Education also develops the participation of parents to support the learning process by establishing classroom community.

Abstract

The general purpose of this action research is to describe the effectivity of the direct instruction (DI) model application in increasing the university students’ potential scientific basis in Basic Physics 2 under the subject of basic electrostatics. To study the materials and solve the problem of physics in this lecture, the scientific basis competence in the form of procedural skill and declarative knowledge is needed. The research result has shown that the effectivity of the instruction application in increasing the university students’ scientific basis competence is 76,4% in the effective category. It is suggested that in the lecture of Basic  Physics 2, it is best for the lecturer to apply the direct instruction (DI) model, especially in increasing the university students’ scientific basis competence in depicting, presenting, and    explaining the meaning of the basic physical formula of Physics.
