Abstract

The translation of the film “Avengers: Infinity War” from English into Indonesian has many category shifts occurrences. This study with the title “Category Shift of Noun Phrases in the Movie “Avengers: Infinity War” has two research problems: (a) what kinds of category shifts can be found in the translation of the film “Avengers: Infinity War” from English into Indonesian, and (b) how do category shifts applied in the translation of the film “Avengers: Infinity War” from English into Indonesian. The purposes of this study are to find and describe and analyse the kinds of category shifts occurred in the translation of the film “Avengers: Infinity War” from English into Indonesian, and to describe how the category shifts occurred in the translation of the film “Avengers: Infinity War” from English into Indonesian. The data were collected from the film “Avengers: Infinity War” itself with its Indonesian subtitle. The data were in form of noun phrases, in which category shifts occurred. They were collected using observation and documentation methods. The data were then analysed using descriptive and qualitative method. This study is limited to the analysis of the category shift occurrences of noun phrases in the English-Indonesian subtitle using the theory of translation shift proposed by Catford. The result of this study is that all kinds of category shifts were found in the data, such as shift of structure, shift of class, unit shift and intra-system shift. Category shifts occurred in the English-Indonesian subtitle due to the different grammatical structure, the different word classes, the different ranks, and the different internal systems of a source language and a target language.

Abstract

In Bali, the archaeological remains is still functioned and sanctified by the public by placing them in a temple, one of them is Penataran Kacang Bubuan Mas Temple, Ubud, Gianyar regency. The methodin this study is a qualitative committee method which will produce desktiptif data in the form of written words. Data analyis being applied in this research is the qualitative analysis,iconography analysis and contextual analysis. Some theories being applied in this research is the functional theory and semiotics theory. Based on the analysis, the conclusions are drawn in the form of archaeological heritage of 1 piece Ganesha statue,1 piece simpel statue (primitive statue), 6 pieces embodiment statues of bhatari, 2 pieces embodiment statues of bhatara, 1 piece lingga (tribhaga), 2 pieces animal statues, 1 piece priest statue, 1 pieces clownman statue, 4 pieces fragments of statues, 1 piece fragment waterless building fragment, 1 piece natural stone. Archaelogical remains in Penataran Kacang Bubuan Mas Temple, Ubud, Gianyar regency when viewed from its function in the past has experienced a shift function. The local community is still sanctify archaeological remains as a workship tool to ask for safety and protection from harm and fertility. The meaning of the archaeological remains found in the temple is sacred objects for the means of worship by the penyungsung pura community. The means of worshiping the requested statues is symbolism or symbolic that connects worshipers with gods, ancestral holy spirits or for Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa (God).

Abstract

This research is titled "Demonophobia in Kusano Tetsuya's character in Bonus Track’novel by Koshigaya Osamu". This study aims to determine the symptoms and ways to overcome demonophobia in Kusano Tetsuya’s character. The method used descriptive analysis method. The theory used literary psychology that proposed by Ratna (2006) and the theory of specific phobia proposed by Hogan (2004). The analysis of fear or anxiety that occurs to Kusano can cause adverse effects on daily life. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that someone who experiences demonophobia has problems that can be cured with symptoms that suffer. Changing mindset is an influential step for Kusano Tetsuya in an effort to overcome the demonophobia because at that step makes Kusano slowly to recover from his phobia.

Abstract

This study discussed about the Seblang rituals in the village of Olehsari which tells about the emergence of the Seblang ritual, the process of carrying out the Seblang ritual, and how the effects of the Seblang ritual on the social and cultural conditions of the village of Olehsari were affected. The purpose of this study was to find out in depth about the history and life of Seblang culture from 1990 to 2017 and how the impact of the Seblang ritual on the social and cultural conditions of the village of Olehsari. Moreover, this study had three research questions proposed, the answers of which were sought using the methodology of cultural history from Kuntowijoyo. The method used is also assisted by historical theories from Ida Bagus Sidemen. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that the appearance of the Seblang ritual originated from a pagebluk that attacked the slopes of Mount Ijen, which resulted many disasters, sick people, and many failed crops. Since humans in ancient times, or traditional humans, believed in the existence of mystical things, the consider pagebluk is caused due to a lack of balance between nature and humans. For this reason, the Seblang ritual exist. It is through this intermediary of the Seblang ritual that the community of Olehsari hopes that the disaster will end in the village of Olehsari.

Abstract

The title of this undergraduate thesis is The Psychological Analysis of Jamie Sullivan’s Behaviours in Nicholas Sparks Novel “A Walk to Remember”. The discussion of this study focused on psychoanalysis of the behavior of the main character Jamie Sullivan and the most dominant psychoanalysis concepts of the main character based on Freud's personality theory. Documentation method was applied to collecting the data of this study, which were analysed using descriptive qualitative method; then the result of analysis was presented in the form of sentences using informal method. The result of this study shows that Jamie’s dominant personality in Freud's tripartite personality theory is Superego as she behaves according to the civilized manner. Jamie tends to help others. She makes decisions based on morals and judgments about what is right and what is wrong, and her decisions are based more on moral values.

Abstract

This study has discussed about the development of traditional art in Probolinggo or its called Pendalungan art in 1984-2018. Traditional art from Probolinggo, which not widely known by the people has experienced revival through several periods of years which are supported by social community until nowadays. The formulation of the problems of the study are, (1) How are the process of developing Pendalungan art in Probolinggo? (2) What are supporting factors for the development of Pendalungan art in Probolinggo? (3) What are the implications of the development of Pendalungan art in Probolinggo ?. This study used cultural history method, and historical theory of Ida Bagus Sidemen and social science theory namely Rhole Teory by Dwi Narwoko and Bagong Suyanto were applied.The results of this study revealed that there were several roles carried out in the community elements in developing the traditional art in Probolinggo to find and preserve the identity of Probolinggo art in the midst of other arts in this area. Along the time, Pendalungan Arts finally has found the lines, namely Pendalungan Probolinggoan which consists of various kinds of art.

Abstract

This research entitled “Indonesian Language Variety of the Army; Psycholinguistic studies”. The way it expess are also in firm, solid, and clear manner. This research is the background of the author to conduct a research on the diversity of languages applied in the military. The aims of this research is to describe and understand the use of language in the military. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research method, interview techniques, and oral direct communication with students and military teachers. The implication of this study on linguistics knowledge is that on psycholinguistic study, to find out the mentality of a student while studying at Rindam IX/Udayana.

Abstract

Pedawa Village is one of Bali Aga Villages located in Banjar sub-district, Buleleng district which has a sacred ritual dance, name of this sacred dance is tari Jejumputan. This dance is usually performed once every five years when performing (sasih kaulu nemoning purnama) the ritual of Saba Nguja Benih. There are problems of study in this research, namely (a) How are the procredures of tari Jejumputan in the ritual of Saba Nguja Benih in Pedawa Village (b) Function of the performance of tari jejumputan in the ritual of Saba Nguja Benih. This research is purposed to describe the performance of tari jejumputan in the event of the ritual of Saba Nguja Benih, and to unveil the function of the performance of tari Jejumputan in the ritual of Saba Nguja Benih in Pedawa Village. The theories used in this research are the theory of manifest and latent proposed by Robert K Merton. Method used in this research is the qualitative research method. The techniques of collecting the data are observation, interview, and literature study. The technique of analysis used in this study is descriptive qualitative analysis. There are manifest and latent function in Jejumputan dance at Saba Nguja Benih ceremony. The manifest function contain important function namely to entertain Dewi Sri to get good seed, good harvest, deny the pest, and as a blessing for the bliss in agricultural sector. The latent function of Jejumputan dance is strength the solidarity among the society and as the identity of Pedawa Village.

Abstract

The title of this thesis is "Use of Setsuzokushi Tonikaku, Tokorode, and Jyaa found in the Novel Norwei No Mori by Haruki Murakami.” focuses on studying the structure and meaning of Setsuzokushi Tonikaku, Tokorode, and Jyaa. The theories which use are Sunagawa et al (1998), Makino and Tsutsui (1994), and semantic theory according to Pateda (2001), and syntactic theory according to Verhaar (2012). This research was analyzed by using agih method and divide technique, the presentation about results of analysis used informal method. The results of this analysis are Setsuzokushi tonikaku, tokorode, jyaa connected with the first sentence and the second sentence, connected with Godan Doushi, Ichidan Doushi, Henkaku Doushi, Meishi, and Keiyoushi. The most found structure are Godan Doushi and Meishi, while in terms of its meaning the most found is the context of the situation for change the topic of conversation.

Abstract

Goa Pawon is a prehistoric site that very important to discover the growth of ancient society in the world. Not only found humans remains in Goa Pawon, but we also found so many artefacts and ecofact remains, one of the artefacts is a tool from chert. This research is intended to discover the variety type of chert tools and to uncover what is the function of every type of chert tools that used to sustain human life in Goa Pawon. Data collecting method used for this research is bibliography study, observation, and interview. All the finding then collected and analyzed. Research method used for this research is typology analysis method, and function analysis method. Typology theory, functional theory and behavior archaeology theory is use by the researcher to be the basic idea about the type and function of rijang that used by the humans of Goa Pawon. The findings of chert artefacts in Goa Pawon is split into two category, waste category and tools category. Waste category has flakes, debitage, and core. Tool category has edge scrapper, notched scrapper, end scrapper, danticulated scrapper, high-back scrapper, lancipan dan multi tools. All the tools in this site have so many form and made typical adjusted to what is for. Tendency for rijang is used to process animals, for example is pointer that was function to make a hole on animal bone and animal tooth and made to be a jewelry, and notched scrapper that used to dredge a molusca, Pelecypoda type.
