Abstract

Kusu bue rite’s a rite performed by women who have experience menstruation. Women will stay in a small house, called sao are. They cooperate with each other in every process of activity. The role of gender in the kusu bue rite also has implications for the Dona community. The formulation of the problem in this study are (1) how’s the role of gender in the implementation of the kusu bue ? (2) What are the implications of gender roles in the implementation of the kusu bue of the kusu bue rite to the Dona community? This study uses theories from Marwell and theories about the transitional rites and the inauguration ceremony of Van Gennep. Ethnographic research models,including data collection techniques through observation, interviews, literature, studies, and data analysis field. The results explained that the kusu bue ritual process lasted for eight days and seven nights. The procession begins with preparation, hen enters theses’e ritual leadig to Soromazi, to Lole Sao Are. On the second day the community performed the Waju Pare Kobho. On the third and sixth day, why would they goon a journey to find the needs of the girls. Then on the seventh day the community carried out the Bora Raa Weti and Woke Tewu rituals. On the last day the kusu bue girls will have a graduation party or wela ripe. The result of this rite to the Dona community.These implications are the implication in the social, education, deliberation,and consensusand religious fields.

Abstract

Probolinggo is the one of cities in East Java that has many cultural heritages, especially in colonial architectural. There are many colonial architectural heritages in Probolinggo, especially in the center of city Heerenstraat area (Jalan Suroyo). This study aimed to determine the style, past and present functions, and the efforts in preserving colonial architectural in Heerenstraat Probolinggo. There are five places were used as objects of study, they are basecamp of Kodim 0820, Museum of Probolinggo, GPIB "Immanuel Church", Alun-alun or city center, and Probolinggo Train Station. Nowadays, each of these objects is still functioning and has a unique arsitectural style that representing the developed architectural in Probolinggo. This study used architectural, functional, and conservation theories. Furthermore, the stylistic, contextual, and architectural analysis method were applied in this study. The results of this study are knowing about the architectural style, the functions from the past and present of each research object, and the efforts in preserving colonial architectural that have been done and need to be done.

Abstract

This studyaims to find out the types of code-mixing, to identify word classcategories of the words being mixed, and to explain the factors of using mixed languages in Touché novel.Data were taken from Touché novel by WindhyPuspitadewi and were collected by using documentation method. The sample data were selected by using purposive sampling method. This study used qualitative method to analyze the data and the results are presented in formal and informal method. In order to analyze the code-mixing, the theory of factors in using code-mixing proposed by Tej K. Bhatia and William C. Ritchie (2013) was used. The result showed that from 85 Indonesian – English code-mixing data that had been collected, it was found that 39 data are insertion code-mixing, 36 data are alternation code-mixing and 10 data are congruent lexicalization. The categories of words being mixed are varied such as words (i.e. nouns, adjectives, etc.), phrases (i.e. noun phrases, adverb phrases, etc.), and clauses (i.e. dependent and independent clauses). There are four factors found in using code-mixing in the novel: social roles and relationships of participants, situational factors, message-intrinsic factors, and language attitudes, dominance and security.

Abstract

According to Kuntowijoyo writing biography can also be implemented against a person who comes from the unknown or participants. On that basis, study this takes up figure named Sutikno, a seacoast origin Bayuwangi East Java which currently domicile in Denpasar Bali by work as a mechanic motorcycle. A profession Sutikno will be the entrance in analysis, with an emphasis how he was that of a migrant (seacoast) generally in Bali can work as a mechanic workshop motorcycles with income that relatively success. By wearing a method/methodology Genealogi and theories post-strukturlism, especially the undirected Structural Generative Pierre Bourdieu and the Discourse-(Knowledge-Power )-Discipline Michel Foucault as a thought, the three had obtained. drawing conclusions. 1) With hard work and discipline, patient and keep trying not to despair Sutikno managed to achieve success even though through various obstacles and problems. 2) Factors behind the success of Sutikno mainly came from habitus and discipline and social private ownership of capital as a replacement for other capital. 3) Implication after sutikno pillars of success, that is a change from a social lower middle middle-class process for social climbed the stairs, characterized by differentiation consumption of goods that more luxurious and diverse than ever before.

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the types of Borrowing that is used in translation of the novel The Hound of the Baskerville and the dominant type of borrowing in used. The data were taken from a novel entitled “The Hound of The Baskervilles” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and its translation in Indonesia by Dina Begum. This study used library method to collected the data from the novel. To analyse the data, this study usedqualitative method. As for analysis of data presentation, this study used formal and in-formal method. The finding showed there are two type of borrowing used in the novelthey are Pure Borrowing and Naturalized Borrowing.The dominant type of borrowing is Naturalized Borrowing with 138data.

Abstract

This research is titled "Novel Suara Samudra by Maria Matildis Banda Psychology Psychology Study". The following research aims to find out the structure and relationship between psychology figures contained in the novel. There are three theories used for this research, namely structural theory based on Stanton's opinion, the theory of literary psychology by Sigmund Freud, the theory of love from Sternberg. The method used in data collection is a literature study method with advanced techniques in the form of note and write techniques. Then proceed with using the formal method and descriptive analysis method for analyzing data. Furthermore, in presenting the results of the analysis using the description method. Based on the analysis that has been done on the novel Suara Samudra, several things were discovered. First, in the analysis of the structure which included the characterizations, plot and setting depicted in the novel Suara Samudra. Second, the psychological relationship that is seen in terms of conflicts that occur between characters in the novel Suara Samudra.

Abstract

The title of this study is Slang Word Used in Movie Script “Harold And Kumar Go to White Castle”. The aims of the study are to identify the types of slang and meaningconveyed in movie script Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. The data of this study were collected from” Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” movie script as the data source. The theories usedin the study are theory proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006) entitled Forbidden words: Taboo and The Censoring of Language used to identify the types of slang word, and theory proposed by by Leech (1974) entitled Study of Meaning used to analyze the meaningsconveyed in the movie. The documentation method is used to collect the data, and descriptive qualitative method is used to analyze the data.There were forty slangs either in the form of words or phrases that areanalyzed based on theorymentioned above. There are five types of slang in theory of Allan and Burridge (2006) but only four types were found in the movie script. Those are fresh and creative, imitative, flippant, acronym, and clipping. Flippant type was the most found in the data source. For the meaning, there were seven types of meaning based on thetheory proposed byLeech (1974) but only six types were found in the movie script. Those are conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, social meaning, collocative meaning, reflected meaning, and affective meaning. Affective meaning type is the most found in the data source.

Abstract

Pedawa village is part of Banjar district, Buleleng regency, which is one of the Bali AgaVillages in the north Bali. Pedawa as the old village has its own uniqueness especially concerning the marriage ceremony in which the local people in that place often called it as Melaib. There are six types of marriages in Desa Pedawa namely melaib ngemaling, melaib ngidih, melaib ngangken, melaib negteg, melaib mebase tegeh, melaib ngerorod (mepekirang).Melaib mebase tegeh is one of the types of marriage for the people of Pedawa Village who shelter Yos Embang which is the procession of the marriage ceremony uses the conditions in the form of banten base tegeh as a symbol for every woman from Yos Embang (local kawitan) who marries out of their clan. The results of this research are expected to provide benefits and development of science in the field of anthropology, especially about marriage. The results of this research showed that melaib mebase tegeh is one of the types of marriage in Pedawa Village, which is implemented by the people in Pedawa vilage that shelter Yos Embang if the women mated out from Yos Embang. Melaib mebase tegeh has the meaning of kinship, religious meaning and cultural. Moreover, if the people who marry girls from Yos Embang do not carry out mebase tegeh ceremony will have an impact on family and community life and have an impact on the belief aspect of the people in Pedawa Village, which shelter Yos Embang.

Abstract

The title of this research is the Dynamics of Social Economy of Fishermen in Kedonganan Village 1990-2018. The formulation of the problems of this study are 1) How is the Life of the Kedonganan People?, 2) What is the role of the Adat Village and the Regional Government? , 3) What is the dynamics of the socio-economic life of the fishing community in Kedonganan? In this study using the methodology of social history and the theory used is the theory of history and the theory of social change where these two theories can be applied to explain in this research the Historical Explanation theory, namely explaining events in the past, and social change theory that can be seen from the results of research namely changes that occur in the fishing community Kedonganan. In this study found the results of fishermen in Kedonganan are not sea fishermen but “land” fishermen

Abstract

With its unique and progressive approach on education, Green School High School Literacy Syllabus shall be evaluated from an ESP perspective and there is currently no research about it. The aim of this study is to find out what language skills the students think they need and help determine if the existing syllabus at Green School has adequately addressed the needs using qualitative-quantitative methods. Through questionnaires, this study uses Hutchinson-Water's theory of target needs and learning needs. After careful evaluation, the findings suggest that the syllabus has not addressed the Needs sufficiently. Out of 86 subskills, there are only 38 subskills addressed sufficiently. In this context-specific study, there are several implications to be drawn.
