The theory used in this research was proposed by Yule, (1996) to analyze deixis found in the movie. “12 Strong” movie by Nicolai Fuglsig will be the data source to analyze deixiz. This research will be focused on the deixis from the utterances that uttered by the characters in the movie. The research will be used descriptive qualitative method of the research to conduct the data. The researchers will be analyzed the utterances which uttered from the characters in the movie “12 Strong.” The utterances discovered in the movie will be classified used theory types of deixis proposed by (Yule, 1996) which were person deixis, spatial deixis, and the last is temporal deixis. The observational method and non-participatory technique as the method of collecting the data will be used in this research. The result will be discovered that there were 15 utterances of deixis uttered by the characters in the movie. They are included 5 data discovered as person deixis, 6 data discovered as spatial deixis, and 4 data discovered as temporal deixis. The spatial deixis was more often used in the utterances found in the movie.

The objectives of the study was to develop the textbook for Elementary school of the sixth grade students. The population were eighteen students at the sixth grade A class. Nowadays character building was a national movement in Indonesia. The educators asked to integrate it in the learning process, but unfortunately, there are still many teachers that still had difficult in integrating character building in classroom. In English class character building can be integrated through inserting culture in the material, therefore the students are not only learning about the material but they also learned about the value of the culture. The purpose of this research was develop English material for sixth grade students based on character building. The method of this study was Research and Development (R&D) by ADDIE model (1990) was applied Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and evaluation the product. The subjects of research were the students at elementary school of sixth grade. The result of research showed that the textbook developed was appropriate to the students’ needs and curriculum. The writer concluded that developing English textbook for Elementary school at sixth grade students of SD IT An-nida Lubuklinggau got positive response from six grade students because it can help easier for students comprehend the material clearly. So in this study, the textbook can help students facilitate learning English in the classroom.

This research aims at finding out the efficacy of using Cup Stacking Game in teaching speaking especially describing to Indonesian English as Foreign Language (EFL) students. The main question of this research: Is the use of Cup Stacking Game effective in teaching conditional sentences to Indonesian EFL students?. The research can be an addition to the persisting teaching speaking in English particularly the descriptive text through the use of Cup Stacking Game. The research was conducted in August 2019. This research was conducted at First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. The population of this research was First semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang in the 2020/2021 academic year. The number population is 160 in four classes.. The research used a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design. The pre-test was given to find out the basic ability of the students in mastering speaking and the post-test given to find out the students’ improvement in mastering speaking after giving the treatment by using Cup Stacking Game. The findings show that using Cup Stacking Game is effective in teaching speaking to Indonesian EFL students. It is supported by the result of the significance test through SPSS 20 program that the P was 0.00. Therefore, it is recommended to use the Cup Stacking Game in developing students’ speaking of Indonesian EFL students.

This study seeks to find sex stereotypical act towards black gay men from Berry Jenkins' Moonlight (2016) using the Queer perspective. Sex stereotyping is an act when someone has a preconceived conception of how someone should be, act, or behave based on that person’s sex. Moonlight discusses Chiron's struggles with sexuality and personality, including his increasing physical and emotional violence. By adapting queer theory perform by Judith Butler's book Bodies That Matter: In the Discursive Limit of “Sex” it answered the aim of the study. In their book, Butler explains and breaks down the performativity of sex and body and how culture shapes them. In doing this study, both textual and film visual analysis will be applied to the following discussion: 1) determine forms of sex stereotyping in Moonlight; 2) reveal sex stereotyping towards black gay men exist in society in Moonlight. Throughout the analysis, sex stereotyping that happened toward Chiron struggling to cope with his culture as a black gay man formed Chiron’s alienation, heteronormativity, and homophobia. This act of stereotypical sex based on their skin color represent a backlash against their people.

AbstractThe title of this research is "An analysis Teacher's technique and Media in teaching speaking during Covid-19 at the second grade of SMP Swasta Amalyatul Huda Medan." In the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the government has announced online learning activities. The relationship between this policy and teacher learning strategies is interesting. Therefore, this study focuses on the method used by teachers in carrying out learning during the Covid19 pandemic, distance learning (PJJ). This will allow you to learn optimally, effectively, and correctly. This study aims to explain teacher techniques in teaching specs during the Covid19 pandemic. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subject is an English teacher class VIII. Data collection methods in this study were observation, interviews, and recording. Two learning methods are used when analyzing online teacher learning methods that support virtual media. One of them is the mapping method through the Google Classroom application; the results of the answer sheets are collected directly at the school, then the second learning method becomes a problem. Questions and answers via Zoom Meetings and WhatsApp groups. This study concludes that the teacher's strategy in teaching speaking at SMP Swasta Amalyatul Huda in Medan during the Covid19 pandemic can be seen in terms of educational goals, educational approaches, and methods.

This study aims to describe the teacher's strategy in teaching speaking skills to the students of SMP Dharma Pancasila Medan. This is done to find out what the teacher uses in teaching speaking skills to special class students at Smp Dharma Pancasila Medan, the strategies used by the teacher, as well as the problems and solutions faced in the implementation of teaching and learning. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative methodology. The research subjects were teachers at SMP Dharma Pancasila Medan. Data was collected through a questionnaire with an English teacher. The results showed that the strategy used by the teacher was only a question and answer strategy.Keywords: teacher’s strategies, speaking skills, English teacher.

Elementary education is one of the levels of education in which students’ abilities, including attitudes, knowledge, and skill are developed through a series of learning activities undertaken. Self-regulated learning (SRL) in learning activities in elementary school is one of the factors that influences students’ academic progress and it is associated with metacognitive and cognitive skills. The study was conducted in grade 4 of a public elementary school in the rural area of Tuban, East Java, from March to June 2021. The adoption of SRL is one of the factors that may encourage students to participate actively in the learning activities. By organizing their knowledge, students will acquire an ethical attitude. Students will be more self-assured and independent, and they will not be reluctant to voice their thoughts or ideas during learning activities. From the findings, among metacognitive self-regulation and cognitive strategies, cognitive strategies are the one most frequently used by students.

This research conducted based on the phenomon on the languages and behaviours are showed by the students when they interact with their friends, teachers, and stafs at school. This research aims to find out the changes of students’ language and behavior in relation with the intensity of intercultural communication using social media. This research had been done in one of Senior High Schools in Mataram especially to the third grade students of science and social department. In getting the data, this research applied observation, interview, and questionnaire. It found that the intensity of exchange culture information by using social media has influenced most teenager today. Firstly, the students tend to use their language by using a kind of “Alay language” when they interact with their friends or even with their teachers whether inside or outside of the classroom. Secondly, the intensity of exchange culture information by using social media could help students to finish their school tasks. They work cooperatively with their friends in small groups. They are able to find out the information they need to present cultural celebrations and how something happens in less than fifteen minutes. This intercultural communication could also help them to build up their awareness of cultural differences among them. However, this intensive exchange of cultural information could also lead students to prefer to communicate with their network friends to friends in their school and home environment. Moreover, the students are likely becoming less sensitive towards their friends’ problems. In addition, the intensive of exchange of culture information by using social media could lead them to the model of thinking which is likely to force their arrogances and egoism.

Every person's life is riddled with difficulties. There is a movie that portrays how struggle life is, entitled The Pursuit of Happyness. The writer uses a psychological technique to assess Chris Gardner's struggle for a better life in this research. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. The result shows that the movie focuses on Chris, who had a hard time making ends meet. This movie conveys the message of self-reliance, optimism, and self-confidence.

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the use of MALL in the reading class on their learning development using mobile phones as a distance learning medium, especially in the current conditions faced by students such as the corona virus which is to overcome this to maintain the quality of student education or education. lecturers must take advantage of MALL, it aims to create an innovative and creative learning environment with an integrated learning system based on faith and piety, as well as science and technology. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. This research was carried out in the second semester students of the English Department at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. sample is 20 studentsThe findings of this study indicate that the use of MALL in the learning process in the reading class is quite helpful for them, this can be seen from the scale obtained by students based on the results of the Guttman scale analysis, the results of 66% according to the interpretation table are in the range of 0.51 – 0.99, so it can be concluded It is said that the perception of students who use MALL in the reading class is close to appropriate.
