Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of Project Based Learning on students' critical thinking abilities. The method of this study is a meta-analysis with a sample of 10 journals of education and research theses in national journals and instruments in the form of coding categories. The meta-analysis study shows that the effect of Project Based Learning on students' critical thinking abilities from the subject level of education, Project Based Learning is equally positive for both high school (SMA) and vocational levels (SMK) but is more effectively used by students in high school education. Meanwhile from subject matter subjects, Project Based Learning is more influential digestion material than other material. And from the subject of Media that is used, Project Based Learning has a positive effect when using real or virtual media. Other findings show that Project Based Learning has a high influence on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the Problem based learning model on students' scientific literacy skills. This research method is a meta-analysis by examining data sources originating from national or international journals published in the last five years (2017-2021). The results showed that the meta-analysis study had an effect on students' scientific literacy skills with the Problem Based Learning Model. The results of the analysis showed that the 14 effect sizes of the analyzed studies were heterogeneous (Q = 64,264, p < 0,001). The results of the analysis using the random effects model showed that the problem based learning model had a positive and significant effect on the scientific literacy ability of students ( z = 6,374, p < 0,001). The problem based learning model has an effect on the scientific literacy ability of students, including in the very large category of 1,021.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze previously published studies so as to obtain a summary of the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on students' critical thinking abilities in learning biology. This research is an experimental research with a meta-analysis technique. This meta-analysis technique is carried out in several steps, namely (1) determining the research topic, (2) determining the period of the article to be used, (3) searching for scientific articles that will support the research, (4) reading, determining, and analyzing the article to be used, (5) analyze, process, and conclude the data obtained. The research method used in this research is a survey of scientific research articles and other scientific publications. The effect of studies that have applied the problem-based learning model is analyzed using meta-analysis techniques. The findings of this study reveal that the problem-based learning model has an effect on students' critical thinking skills in learning biology. This can be seen from the results of a meta-analysis study with an average effect size of 0.52 on the moderate criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning model applied in the period before-during-after the Covid-19 pandemic and the student achievement of SMP Negeri 59 Palembang. This research is qualitative descriptive, data collection was done by observing and interviewing 5 science teachers. Qualitative data analysis was carried out by field recording, collecting and selecting data, classifying, analyzing, looking for data relationships, and concluding them. The results showed that the average student learning completeness before the Covid-19 pandemic was 74%. The average student learning completeness during the Covid-19 pandemic is 64%. The average student learning completeness before the Covid-19 pandemic was 74.6%. The learning models applied by the teachers are Discovery Learning, Project-based Learning, and Problem-based Learning. During the Covid-19 pandemic from 2020-2021, SMPN 59 Palembang still utilizes the WhatsApp group facility on the smartphone. The teacher provides assignment information to students through the student's WhatsApp group or their respective class groups. The Covid-19 pandemic familiarizes teachers and students with using IT devices in the form of mobile phones, laptops with WhatsApp software, Zoom Meetings, Google Classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on student learning outcomes. This research method is a meta-analysis by examining data sources originating from national or international journals published in the last seven years (2014-2021). This research begins with formulating the topic to be studied, then formulating the problem and research objectives, at the next stage collecting relevant articles to collect data. The data was obtained from online journal searches through Google Scholar. The keywords used are "Teams Games Tournament learning model" and "learning outcomes". From the search results there are 20 articles. Data were obtained and reanalyzed using quantitative methods. Based on the results of the analysis of the Teams Games Tournament learning model, it is proven to be able to improve student learning outcomes with significant results after being given treatment, which is 69.93% compared to the results before being given treatment, which is 55.75% so that it increases by 14.18%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the motivation of students in the social science program in choosing cross-interest in Biology at SMAN Kubu and SMAN Kubu Babussalam, Rokan Hilir Regency. The type of research is descriptive research. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Kubu, SMAN 1 Kubu Babussalam and SMAN 2 Kubu Babussalam. The time of the study started from August to October 2020. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique. The sample in the study were 35 students from SMAN 1 Kubu, 36 students from SMAN 1 Kubu Babussalam, 38 students from SMAN 2 Kubu Babussalam with a total of 109 people. Data collection by distributing questionnaires online through the Google Forms Platform. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average student motivation in the social science program in choosing cross-interest biology at SMAN 1 Kubu was 73% with the "High" category, SMAN 1 Kubu Babussalam was 76% with the "High" category, SMAN 2 Kubu Babussalam was 74 % with the category “High”. The average for indicators of student motivation in social science programs in choosing cross-interest biology in the three schools is 74% with the High category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of the protected chirping bird E-booklet at the Yogyakarta Various Animal and Ornamental Plants Market (PASTY) as a learning resource for class X biology based on material experts, media experts, and biology teachers. In this study, the preparation of an E-booklet adapted from a 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) is limited to the develop stage. The quality assessment e-booklet uses a questionnaire method. Likert scale questionnaire (4 scales) was used to validate the product. Product validation was carried out by media experts, namely Biology Education lecturer at Ahmad Dahlan University, material expert namely ornithologist from the Science for Endangered and Trafficked Foundation (SCENTS), and class X Biology teacher at SMA Negeri 11 Yogyakarta. Data from the assessment questionnaire was then analyzed descriptively to determine the quality of the E-booklet. The results of the assessments from material experts, media experts, and Biology teachers showed that the quality of the compiled E-booklets was in the very good category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the concept of teacher innovation in developing educational content on the YouTube platform as a learning medium and to determine the form of educational content that can be used as a medium for learning biology. This study was designed using a qualitative method with the type of library research. The data analysis procedure was carried out by searching, collecting, and processing various valid sources such as printed books, e-books, and similar e-journals as article references. The result of this study is that teachers have a great opportunity to innovate and develop learning media in the develop learning media in the form of educational content on the YouTube platform in learning biology. The development of educational content is useful for increasing student interest in learning, making it easier for students to receive biology material, and providing opportunities for students to study wherever and whenever. Educational content can be in the form of learning videos, teaching videos, tutorial videos, and even animated videos. The conclusion of this study is that teachers can develop content in various forms freely as a medium for learning biology on the condition that the content contains information on biological knowledge.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's interpersonal communication and its effect on the learning motivation of seventh grade students in science subjects VII at MTs 'Aisyiyah 1 Palembang. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a sample of all students with a total of 85 students. The teacher's interpersonal communication questionnaire and the students' learning motivation questionnaire were used as a data collection tool and then analyzed. The average percentage of teacher interpersonal communication is 80.91% and the percentage of students' learning motivation is 83.60% which is categorized as very high. Interpersonal communication of teachers has an influence on students' learning motivation. Good interpersonal communication by the teacher affects the learning motivation of students. Interpersonal communication of teachers is very important and needs to be done to students. If the learning motivation of students is higher, it is expected that in the end the learning achievement of students will also increase.

Abstract

PBL is a teaching method that can help students understand the subject matter and improve their problem-solving abilities. The purpose of this study is to see how the problem-based learning (PBL) model affects students' problem-solving abilities with reproductive system material. This is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Non-probability sampling is used, along with total sampling. The research sample consisted of 39 students from Class XI. The data collection technique used pretest and posttest instruments, and the data analysis technique used was the One-Sample KS Test, with an average pretest result of 23.08 with a significance of 0.00, a posttest average of 85.18 with a significance of 0.03, and an average N-Gain of 0.81 with a significance of 0.01 as evidenced by statistical analysis, which states that the data significance is 0.05, indicating that Problem Based Learning has an effect.
