Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on the education sector. The learning process must be carried out remotely (Distance Learning), so it requires adjustments both by educators and students to run an effective learning. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Distance Learning using LMS Schoology, Youtube, and Google Meets in the Survey and Mapping of Regional Resources Course. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design in which students were given a pretest and posttest.  The pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using Normalized-Gain (N-Gain) to determine the effectiveness of Distance Learning using LMS Schoology, Youtube and Google Meets. The results of the analysis will be categorized as effective if there is an increase score at posttest compared to pretest. The results of this study indicated that Distance Learning using LMS Schoology, Youtube, and Google Meets was effective for the Survey and Mapping of Regional Resources Course with an average gain by 0.19 and an increase of posttest score by 3.56. This Research is expected to provide a perspective on learning strategies during a pandemic. Keywords: COVID-19, Distance Learning, Education, Geography, Learning Strategy

Abstract

The success of an educational institution integrates the performance of each individual conducting organizational activity. Guidance and counseling are part of the activities that are running in the educational institutions. Legally there are some regulations governing workload assignments for school counselors, but in reality the many divisions of assignments given to school counselors are disproportionate. This research aims to present data and factual analysis of workload assignment for school counselors in Palembang. Research using quantitative design, with survey method, to 20 school counsellors in MGBK Palembang. The results showed that 70% of school counsellors gained equal 24-hour students ' equivalence to the national regulation. But in the provision of assignments, school counselors are much busy with administrative affairs. Therefore, coordination and consultation functions between school counselors, school principals, and supervisors need to be addressed in order to provide the main tasks and functions of school counselors more optimally in serving the students and in accordance with the central government policy contained in the Ministry regulations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the unoptimally the mastery of the material is still not optimal exponential number among learners and implementation Discovery learning in mathematic learning material on the exponential number of learners class IX A State of Junior High School One Cawas Klaten second semester of academic year 2014/2015. This study aimed to describe the optimization of mastery of the exponential number through Discovery learning approach in learning of mathematic. Subject and source of research data is a total of 32 learners. Methods of data collection using observation, documentation, and testing. Analysis of data using a critical and comparative analysis. Indicators of success using the criteria limit minimal is 80 and the target class completeness 100%. Research procedure uses cycles. From the results of research and discussion is known that the data obtained from pre cycle until the second cycle, obtained achievement progress data obtained from pre cycle until the second cycle, obtained advances learning achievements of learners in mathematics with matter exponential number, the pre cycle average of 77 and the cycle I average of 83 and the second cycle by an average of 92. from this data, it seems clear that an increase in the average value of pre cycle to a first cycle of six figures (7.8%), from the first cycle to the second cycle occurs an increase of 9 numbers (10.8%), from the second cycle pasiklus to an increase of 15 points (19.5%). The highest value pre cycle stage by 86 and 90 as well as the first cycle of the second cycle of 98. It is clear that from the stage to the first cycle pre cycle an increase of 4 digits (4.7%), from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 8 digits ( 8.9%), and the second cycle of pre cycle to an increase of 12 points (14%). The lowest scores were obtained for 66 pre cycle stage and the first cycle of 72 and the second cycle of 88. thus, can be affirmed that the step of the first cycle pre cycle to an increase of 6 figures (9.1%), from the first cycle to the second cycle there is an increase amounting to 16 points (22.2%), and the second cycle of pre cycle to an increase of 22 points (33.3%). The percentage of mastery learning from pre cycle obtained by 34% and the first cycle was obtained by 66% and the second cycle of 100%. It seems clear that from the stage to the first cycle pre cycle an increase of 32%, from the first cycle to the second cycle an increase of 34%, and from the second cycle pre cycle to an increase of 66%. Thus, the learning achievements of learners in mathematics learning with the exponential number of pre cycle material to the second cycle brought a significant rise.

Abstract

Act No. 14/ 2005 about Teachers and Lecturers and PP (GovernmentDecree) No 74/2008 about Teachers give an instruction to the government to certify on-going-occupation teachers of all courses in requirements. Based on the survey of Directorate General of PMPTK in 2009/, however, the program of certification couldn’t have developed teachers’ competency and professionalism significantly so that it does not positively take an effect on teachers’ performance development. The study aims to describe a model of biology teachers’ professional competency development based on the early competency test (UKA) in Surakarta. The procedure of research development used R D model developed by Borg Gall (2007), and then simplified by Samsudi (2009; 92) into three main stage: 1) introduction, 2) development, and 3) validation for finding a model. The introduction of the study empirically analyzed a model of professional competency development through Biology MGMP, called as factual model nowadays and theoretically analyzed the relevant researchers. It employed a survey approach while the instrument was questionnaires. The respondents or informants with purposive sampling were the heads of LPMP – Provincial Central Java, Education Agency of Regency/Mayor, Principals, the Committees of Biology MGMP, and Biology Teachers. In the stage of development, the researcher formulated an early development; then it was analyzed and matched with the relevant theories for making a model design developed in the form of Figure or Model Figure after validated through focus group discussion (FGD). The results of the study stated that a model of biology teachers’ professional competency based on the early competency test included the following characters: 1) implementing a model began with a competency test; 2) the activities reflected the aspect of continuing professional development (CDP); 3) the supervision was periodically realized by principals or course teachers); 4) giving feed-back for the next development was based on the evaluation; and 5) the speakers of Higher Education with relevant sciences were involved in the activities.
