Abstract: This study explored reflective journals of Indonesian EFL undergraduate students aiming to investigate a teacher’s instructional practices in online writing classes. Using the narrative methodology, the data were collected from students’ reflective journals, recorded interviews, and a questionnaire. This study found that teachers’ instructional practices have assisted students during the learning process, for instance, the integration of technology makes students more engaged. This study also observed students’ challenges during online classes, such as the unsupportive learning environment which covers studying alone and household chores distraction. This study offers insight for teachers that students’ reflective journal helps evaluate the instructional practice and improve teaching quality.

Abstract: Critical writing needs to be taught to junior high school students to develop analytical skills, evaluate, and relate meaningful learning experiences. Assessment as Learning (AaL) is an assessment that students can do to reflect on the development of their knowledge independently. Aal can be used as a variation of assessment in teaching materials. Critical writing and AaL can be combined in the form of teaching materials. This study will explain how AAL and critical writing are part of the development of exposition text teaching materials for class VIII. This presentation was developed with a research development scheme by adapting the 4D development research model. Furthermore, from the research, the final result was that the application of AAL in the development of teaching materials could have a positive effect on students with a practice test score of 90% and product user trials with a score of 87%.Abstrak: Menulis kritis perlu diajarkan pada siswa SMP untuk mengembangkan kemampuan analisis, mengevaluasi, dan menghubungkan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the Remap-GI (Reading, Concept-Mapping, Group Investigation) learning model on students' cognitive learning outcomes and Science Process Skills (SPS). The Biology class at SMA Negeri 8 Malang was used as the research sample for the quasi-experimental research design over the course of 60 students in the 12th grade. This study used the blended learning-based Remap-GI learning model opposed to the GI (Group Investigation) learning model. SPS data were collected using non-test data (observation) and cognitive learning outcome variables in the form of multiple-choice questions. The Ancova test was used to analyze cognitive learning outcome variable data and SPS. The findings revealed that the blended learning-based Remap-GI learning model had an impact on SPS and cognitive learning outcomes. The Remap-GI learning model is based on blended learning as a learning model that can be used to improve SPS and students' cognitive learning outcomes, especially after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The focus on learner-centred learning approaches is a concern which needs to be facilitated as a matter of study. Microlearning has evolved in facilitating learners in short learning activities as viewed through history. This paper aims to review the application of microlearning historically. This narrative study uses deconstruction techniques with a historical research approach consisting of (1) heuristics, (2) verification, (3) interpretation, and (4) historiography. The study found that microlearning is a development of the concepts of microteaching and microcontent. This paper can be used as a reference in the development of microlearning as research and learning in the future.

Abstract: This study examined the implementation of the Question and Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy during the teaching-learning process to enhance the critical reading skill of authentic texts. The study employed classroom action research of fourth-semester students at Tridinanti University. It was implemented for three cycles involving four phases; planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data were gathered using three different types of instruments, including interviews, observation, and tests of critical reading. The findings showed that students' critical reading achievement of authentic text increased for each cycle. The question categories of the QAR strategy could help the students in managing difficulties in doing the reading learning activities.

The participants were six pre-service English teachers. The study employed a qualitative design and used observations and interviews as the methods of data collection. The study found that pre-service teachers experienced anxiety when opening the class, when students asked questions, and when they had mispronunciation or forgot certain vocabulary. Through Thematic Analysis, the study also found five contributing factors to the participants’ teaching anxiety. These were perceived lack of EOP teaching experience and lack of content knowledge, lack of confidence in their English, teaching mixed-abilities students and teaching students older than them.

This study aims to describe, interpret, and analyze the PGSD UPY students’ difficulties in learning mathematics 2. The research type is a descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects are students and a mathematics lecturer of PGSD UPY. The data were gathered through interviews, observations, documentations, and tests. The data validity test was done by using triangulation of sources and techniques. Proprietary interactive analysis models (Miles, Huberman, & Saldana, 2014) were used to analyzed the data. The results show that there are some difficulties experienced by students in learning numberic system especially for fractions. The pretest and post test results show that A1 and A2 students get low average score on fractions materials. The average score of the pretest for A1 is 66.11 while A2 is 62.35. The average core of the posttest for A1 is 67.22, while A2 is 63.52.

The development of teaching materials for writing fantasy short stories based on the Situbondo folklore provides innovation in writing strategies and folk tales as the learning resources. The existence of this writing strategy is because there were a lot of students that have mastered the knowledge of fantasy short story concepts, but had no competence in writing fantasy short stories. Meanwhile, the selection of folklore is an effort to get closer to the environment of the students while integrating the local character values of Situbondo. The research model used in the development of this teaching material was ADDIE developed by Branch in five stages of development. Based on the development activities, it was obtained that (1) the validity results collected from the validation sheets showed a percentage of 87% which indicated that the teaching materials were feasible and ready to be implemented, (2) the results of user responses gotten from the product test questionnaire resulted in a percentage of 93% which indicated that the teaching materials were qualified from the point of view of students, as well as (3) the results of the effectiveness test showed that the teaching materials are effective and influential to be implemented.
