Abstract

Media pembelajaran mempunyai peranan penting dalam menunjang proses pembelajaran. Seorang pendidik harus mampu menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang efektif dan menyenangkan. Penggunaan Media visual berupa herbarium book adalah salah cara yang bisa dilakukan. Media pembelajaran herbarium book mampu membantu mahasiswa dalam memahami materi yang disampaikan, sehingga tujuan pembelajaran dapat tercapai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui efektivitas pengunaan herbarium book sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi bangun daun terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa semester 3 Biologi Universitas Pasir Pengaraian. Jenis penelitian penelitian ini adalah Quasi exsperiment. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah one-group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiwa Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UPP. Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester 3 Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UPP yang ditetapkan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji validitas, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan beda rerata Wilcoxon dengan menggunakan bantuan software SPSS 16. Uji Wilcoxon memperoleh nilai sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0.000. Karena nilai 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05 dengan nilai mean pretest sebesar 26,04 dan mean posttest sebesar 68,79 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima . Artinya, media herbarium book efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa program studi pendidikan biologi Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Pasir Pengaraian.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of a conservation biology textbook that integrates Islamic values into biology education. The textbook was developed to provide a deeper understanding of conservation biology through a faith-based approach, relevant to higher education. The feasibility analysis involved language and media experts, covering linguistic, presentation, and graphic aspects. The results showed an average score of 95.40% for linguistic aspects, 90.80% for presentation aspects, and 90.50% for graphic aspects, all of which fall into the "highly valid" category. The book is considered to have a consistent structure, supportive illustrations, and language use appropriate to students' developmental levels. The integration of Islamic values enriches the understanding of the material and adds relevance within a religious-based educational context.

Abstract

Education plays a critical role in developing the potential of each individual, and the quality of the teaching and learning process is vital for the success of the education undertaken by students. Innovative learning designs that meet student needs are required. Genetic material in biology, which is complex and conceptual, requires deep understanding. Therefore, it is important for educators to use teaching strategies that allow students to better understand genetic concepts. The purpose of this study is to evaluate genetic teaching strategies including curriculum analysis, approaches, and the application of various models, methods, and media in learning. This research method is qualitative with a descriptive approach, aiming to describe current genetic teaching practices, including the use of TPACK by teachers. Data was collected through literature study with stages such as data collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and conclusion with descriptive qualitative data analysis. The analysis results were verified by experts. The findings show that teachers have implemented various approaches, models, methods, and learning media. The success of the learning process greatly depends on effective teacher planning so that students can clearly understand the material. These findings provide useful information for teachers to implement TPACK in genetics learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar peserta didik di MAN Tanjungpinang melalui penggunaan bahan ajar yang diterapkan. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya keterkaitan mengenai kualitas bahan ajar yang digunakan dengan hasil belajar yang didapatkan oleh peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap seorang guru Biologi MAN Tanjungpinang dan dokumentasi yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini merupakan dokumen hasil belajar. Kurikulum yang digunakan adalah kurikulum merdeka. Fokus dalam penelitian ini meliputi antara lain (1) pengetahuan guru mengenai bahan ajar, (2) bahan ajar yang digunakan dalam mata pelajaran biologi, (3) kendala dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar, dan (4) hasil belajar peserta didik. Dari hasil wawancara diperoleh informasi bahwa bahan cetak yang digunakan berupa LKS dan buku teks. Adapun sebagai sumber belajar pendukung, guru juga memperbolehkan siswa berselancar di internet untuk mencari wawasan tambahan terkait materi yang sedang dipelajari karena bahan ajar yang digunakan pada pembelajaran kurang efekti dibuktikan dengan hasil belajar siswa dari nilai Ujian Tengah Semester menunjukkan hasil yang kurang memuaskan, terlihat dari nilai yang diperoleh dari ujian tengah semester peserta didik  dengan rata-rata 41,3 yang masih di bawah Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki integrasi etnobotani dalam pengetahuan asli Arat Sabulungan masyarakat Mentawai sebagai bagian dari implementasi etnopedagogi dalam kurikulum Merdeka. Suku Mentawai di Indonesia dikenal dengan pengetahuan tradisionalnya yang kaya, khususnya dalam pemanfaatan tumbuhan dan nilai etnobotani. Metode tinjauan literatur sistematis, mengikuti kerangka kerja PRISMA, digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengevaluasi literatur yang relevan dengan topik tersebut dari periode 2017-2024 sebanyak 498 dan dilakukan penyaringan menjadi 50 artikel. Studi ini menemukan bahwa integrasi pengetahuan etnobotani ke dalam materi biologi sekolah mendorong siswa untuk belajar tentang tumbuhan dan manfaatnya dalam konteks kesehatan dan kehidupan sehari-hari, serta memperkuat pemahaman mereka tentang warisan budaya dan nilai-nilai berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kolaborasi yang lebih erat antara pengetahuan ilmiah dan tradisional untuk menjaga keanekaragaman hayati dan lingkungan. Hal ini juga menyarankan perlunya kurikulum yang inklusif yang memberi tempat pada etnosains dalam pendidikan untuk melindungi warisan budaya dan memperkaya pengalaman pembelajaran biologi.

Abstract

 This article aims to describe environmental awareness and behaviour in biology students and to compare the level of environmental awareness and behaviour among students who take environmental courses to those who do not. The research was on biology college students' environmental awareness and attitude. The sample was 50 using purposive sampling. The research approach was quantitative descriptive. The study was recommended to describe environmental awareness and attitude. The study was also done to determine the level of awareness and environmental behaviour of Biology college students. Researchers employed the Environmental Awareness Test and the Environmental Attitude Scale, created by Dr. Haseen Taj and Dr. K Yeshodara, to gauge participants' levels of environmental awareness. According to the Unpaired T-Test analysis findings, there is a difference in the attitudes and levels of environmental awareness between environmental students and non-environmental students. The p-values for environmental and environmental awareness are 0.049 and 0.024, respectively, less than 0.05. Furthermore, this study paves the way for future research to investigate the underlying factors influencing environmental awareness and attitudes.

Abstract

College graduates, including prospective biology teachers, should possess excellent research skills. This competency has become an objective profile for graduates of Biology education department, however it has not been adequately developed during the lecture process. This study was conducted to determine the extent to which research skills have been mastered by prospective biology teacher in learning at universities and to determine the need for developing research skills. Research skills are defined as skills using information literacy and basic biology laboratory skills related to research. This study employed a descriptive approach, involving document review and survey. An analysis of curriculum documents and lesson plans was carried out to explore lecture designs that prepare students' research skills. A total of 25 graduates were involved in a perception survey of how important research skills are for them in the workplaces. 27 final year students were also involved in providing self-assessments about their ability to master information literacy and basic biology laboratory skills. Data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The study resulted that the researcher profile is one of the targets for graduates of biology education study programs but has not been supported by course designs. Research skills are needed by graduates in the workplaces and are very relevant to support their careers. Information literacy and basic biology lab skills have not been fully mastered by final year students. There is an urgency to equip students with more adequate skills so that students are better able to carry out research, including completing their studies.

Abstract

 Teaching materials have a very crucial role in strengthening arguments during the biology learning process. With good teaching materials, information can be presented systematically and structured, making it easier for students to understand biological concepts and deepen their understanding of scientific principles. Scientific argumentation aimed at reaching a rational perpestive on science, scientific concepts, or elements within a scientific procedure.This study is experimental research employing a pretest-post-test control group design. The research was conducted with a population of 44 fifth-semester students majoring in biology education. The sample selection was performed using random sampling, consisting of two classes (experimental and control), the experimental class consisted of 22 students, and the control class consisted of 22 students. Research data on the application of argumentation and teaching materials in improving students' understanding of biology material was obtained through pretest and posttest.for the research were collected through pretests and post-test, which included 10 questions with five argumentation indicators via the minimum structure essay test. The research findings demonstrated an enhancement in students' ability to articulate their comprehension of the material when utilizing teaching materials compared to those who did not. As a result, it is recommended that the availability of teaching materials be applied in the learning process in other courses to help improve skills in understanding biological material in arguing including the presentation of claims, data, warrants, backing, and effective rebuttals in the learning process.

Abstract

Cognitive load can be measured, one of which is by emotions through facial expressions during learning. This research aims to develop learning media by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) that is able to detect the emotions of prospective teachers during genetics lectures. Using AI technology, the system can evaluate students' cognitive load in real-time through facial expression analysis. This learning media is equipped with emotion detection features, interactive learning materials, and an informative dashboard to monitor student learning progress. This research is a development research that refers to the Borg & Gall model. The data collection technique is in the form of questionnaires and questions integrated into AI media that detects student emotions, which are then analyzed using machine learning algorithms to identify the level of cognitive load during the lecture session. The results of the study showed that this learning medium was able to identify the emotional expression of each student in the genetics of mendelism with a percentage of 61.64% (surprised-happy) describing a moderately low-very low cognitive load, and 38.42% (sad-angry) describing a high cognitive load. So that with the acquisition of this data, it is known that more than 50% of students' emotional recordings (low cognitive load) can follow and understand the information obtained in the Mendelism genetics lecture. The application of this technology is expected to improve the quality of learning and help students achieve a better understanding of genetics courses.

Abstract

Learning media has an important role in supporting the learning process. An educator must be able to create an effective and fun learning atmosphere. The use of visual media in the form of a herbarium book is one way that can be done. The herbarium book learning media is able to help students understand the material presented, so that learning objectives can be achieved. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of herbarium book as a learning medium on leaf shape material on student learning outcomes in the 3rd semester of Biology at Pasir Pengaraian University. This type of research is a quasi experiment. The design used is a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all students of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UPP. The research sample was the 3rd semester students of Biology Education FKIP UPP determined by purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used validity test, normality test, homogeneity test, and Wilcoxon mean difference using SPSS 16 software. Wilcoxon test obtained sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000. Because the value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 with a mean pretest value of 26.04 and a mean posttest of 68.79, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that the herbarium book media is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes of the biology education study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Pasir Pengaraian.
