Journal DaFIna : Journal Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Indonesien is an electronic journal managed by the Department of German Literature at the State University of Malang which contains articles in both Indonesian and foreign languages. Articles contained in the form of analysis, study, application of theory, results of research, and discussion of literature with the following scope: 1) DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) / learning German as a foreign language, especially in Indonesia, but does not rule out the possibility of themes same from other countries; 2) Germanistic / Deutsche Linguistics / linguistics in German and its teaching; 3) Deutsche Literatur / German literature and its teaching; 4) Übersetzung / German translation and teaching; and 5) related themes, for example a) Tourism / tourism management for German-speaking foreign tourists and their teaching and b) Deutschkurs / management of German language courses and teaching.

Abstract

This article is the result of a research related to Asynchronous digital-based learning in speaking skill through instagram. This study aims to determine the transformation of Asynchronous digital-based learning and to analyze the students' speaking skill using the assessment rubric that has been designed. The data were collected through oral practice in the form of videos related to the theme Freizeitbeschäftigung / Hobby. Each student was asked to upload a 2-3 minute video and comment on two videos of other students. The results of this study indicated that the assessment rubric covered the fulfillment of tasks and pronunciation. All the given assignment points were fulfilled quite well, although there were six students who still made grammatical errors. The pronunciation ability of seven students was very good, while the other seven students were still influenced by Indonesian accent. Students' comments regarding other students’ videos were varied and positive. Students gave supportive comments to motivate each other in doing their work and they did not have any difficulties in using instagram. Keywords: Asynchronous, German language learning, instagram, speaking skill

Abstract

This research and development pursues the aim to develop an instructional medium in the form of an Android-based application named “Deutsch im Klassenzimmer“ that is intended for German students of Universitas Negeri Malang, who attend the course Unterrichtsvorbereitung Deutsch and will undertake a student teaching internship in high schools. The application serves as a phrase book that contains german classroom phrases and their translation in Bahasa that can be used by German teachers during teaching. The development will be guided by the ADDIE concept from Branch, validated by media design and material experts, and will be tested to 40 students. The data will be obtained through indirect observation and questionnaire and will be analysed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of the observation indicates that the phrases that are used by the subjects are learned from the application. The result of the survey shows that the subjects consider the application to be good, helpful, and easily accessed. It is stated, that the application facilitates the learning process and the subjects will continue using the application during student teaching internship.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the process of applying Quizziz media to train German language listening skills of class X MAN 1 Malang City students and student responses to the application of the media. This study used a qualitative descriptive method in conducting research and there were 31 students of class X Religion MAN 1 Malang who became the data sources. Researchers used data collection instruments in the form of questionnaire sheets and observation sheets. The results of this study indicate that the application of Quizizz media to practice listening skills in German in class X Religion MAN 1 Malang runs smoothly and conducively. In addition, students said that Quizizz is an interesting medium to use in learning German in class because this media has attractive features and displays in the form of audio and images.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing the use of “Schneeballschlachtenspiel” as “Automatisierungsübung” or automation  excercise for student in German lteaching. This is a qualitative study that has been supported by quantitative data. The data were the use of Schneeballschlachtenspiel during the teaching which was collected through observation as well as documentation and learners’ perceptions about Schneeballschlachtenspiel which were collected through questionnaire. The data source were students of the German Department at Universitas Negeri Malang who were attending the course Deutsch 3. The result of the study show that Schneeballschlatenspiel as active-passive sentence exercise works well in the class. The students find that it was fun during the game and they have positive mind about it. Schneeballschlachten help them understand paricular grammar and they will use it again. In addition, the students find it  interresting and attractive.

Abstract

The purpose of this research and development is to develop learning media in the form of e-books with pictorial stories. This research and development uses a research model developed by Borg and Gall and has been modified by researchers. The stages of developing Borg and Gall that have been modified by researchers are: 1) research and data collection, 2) planning and development of product drafts, 3) expert validation, 4) revision of expert validation results, 5) field trials and 6) product revisions end. The data obtained in this study are quantitative data and qualitative data. Both data were obtained from filling out expert validation questionnaires and filling out observation sheets by two observers in field trial activities. Subjects in this study, namely students of class X MAN 1 Malang City who are taking odd semesters. From the results of the validation of the media experts that have been carried out, the product eligibility results are 80%, while the results of the material expert validation get 80% of the product eligibility results. Based on the validity level criteria, it can be concluded that the picture story e-book product is included in the level of "very valid" or suitable for use in learning. Meanwhile, the results of filling out observation sheets and student response questionnaires by observers in field trial activities showed that the media developed was interesting and could help students practice reading skills in German.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the learning process using project based learning model combined with storyline learning technique and the students’ responses towards the learning model. This research was conducted online through WhatsApp  in the class XI IBB SMAN 6 Malang which consists of 12 students.  This is a descriptive qualitative research using observation and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The research results showed that the implementation of Project Based Learning model combined with Storyline learning technique went well and got  positive responses from the students. Through this learning, students are actively involved in learning activities during the German writing class and it can help students  solving  the existing problems and also can help them expressing their ideas in form of written texts.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the results of the translation of the Funktionverbgefuge form gained from the informative text “Gute Unterhaltung” by students of the Department of German Literature, class of 2014. The  type of the research is qualitative. Informative text of “Gute Unterhaltung” translated by offering B students was  the source of the data of  the study. The data of the study consisted of the original sentences and the translated one in the target language which contain the funktionverbgefüge form. Based on the conducted research, there are 5 FVG phrases with different forms in the ‘Gute Unterhaltung’ article consisting of 3 FVG mit Akkusativobjekt phrases and 2 FVG mit Präpositionalobjekt phrases. The result of the study shows that student can translate the FVG form lexically well. However, there are many results of translated sentences with FVG mit Akkusativobjekt contextually acceptable. Meanwhile, there are many FVG sentences with Präpositionalobjekt contextual translated by students that are less acceptable and unacceptable, but there are several also results of the textual FVG mit Prapositionalobjek translation acceptable. These mistakes occur due to misconceptions of the context, incorrect translation methods and inadequate word choice.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explain the activities and responses of students to the application of the Mesostichon with a project-based learning model in learning literary works according to KD 3.5 and 4.5 in class XI IBB SMAN 1 Lawang. This study used the research approach was descriptive qualitative. There are two techniques used to collect the data, namely observation and interviews. The supporting instruments in this study were the observation sheet and interview guidelines as tools for collecting data. the activities of students during the learning process of the German language got positive results and  the responses given by students are in a good category. Students optimally apply their ideas, creativity, and writing skills. This can be seen from the results, it is based on the characteristics possessed by Mesostichon. The application of project-based learning models to support independent learning and increase learning motivation and student interest.Based on the results of interviews with students, project-based learning did not make them bored, it increases the activity and motivation of students in learning.

Abstract

The aim of this research and development is to develop Lerpoche learning media for the Literaturgeschichte course. The research and development model used in this study is the Four-D development model (1974). This model is modified into three steps, namely (1) Define, (2) Design, and (3) Develop. In this study, data were obtained from the results of product validation by material experts and media experts. The result of this research and development is that Lerpoche learning media can be used in the Literaturgeschichte learning course.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the reading ability of the students in Freier Vortrag course at German Department State University of Malang and the influence of reading ability on the students' presentation results. Based on the data collection, the average reading ability is 58 and the presentation result is 75. The independent sample test gives a sig. rating 0.000 less than 0.05. It means that Ha is accepted, "reading ability has an influence on the students' presentation results in Freier Vortrag course at German Department State University of Malang". The correlation analysis result shows significant contribution of the X variable on the Y variable (64.4 percent) and the r value recorded is 0.802 which proves significantly strong correlation between variables.
