Abstract

The development of the management of social forestry areas uses the approaches of agroforestry. Selecting the right plants to combine with this approach creates challenges in matching plant species to the environmental conditions where they will grow. This study aims to explore the factors considered by farmers when choosing plant species for cultivation. The research employs purposive sampling of three Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) that have received official decrees (SK) to manage social forestry. These groups situs slot777 terpercaya have implemented agroforestry approaches and combined various plant species. Data was collected through direct observation, interviews with respondents, and literature review. Socio-cultural, ecological, and economic factors significantly influence farmer’s decisions in selecting plant species for cultivation. The data indicates that economic factors account for 40%, ecological factors 33%, and socio-cultural factors 27% in choosing suitable plant species for cultivation

Abstract

The change in the status of forest areas in Maros Regency to Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (TN Babul) has resulted in the loss of access for the community to the land they manage. The community of Labuaja Village, which has invested in land management by planting trees and managing forests, can no longer benefit from their hard work after the area was designated as part of the Babul National Park. This research aims to analyze the conflict between the community and the managers of Babul National Park regarding the utilization of forest land, as well as to explore fair compensation mechanisms based on the community's investment value. By using the approach of Forest Economic Rent and Rehabilitation Cost, this study calculates the compensation value of land invested by the community for planting and maintaining trees. The results indicate that there is significant potential for tree stands from land managed by the community, and the compensation value offered could be a solution to address the conflicts that arise. Recommendations for community investment-based compensation are expected to serve as a foundation for sustainable and fair policies, while also preserving the environment and the well-being of local communities.

Abstract

The community candlenut forest in South Sulawesi is a community forest that was developed independently by the community. The hazelnut forest managed by the community in Maros Regency has been carried out since 1926. Farmers have managed and utilized candlenut plants from generation to generation as gardens that are physically equivalent to forests. The people's candlenut forest in Maros Regency has provided benefits both directly and indirectly. in the management of natural resources, community candlenut forest management involving community groups consisting of men and women allows for issues that arise as a result of differences based on gender. This study aims to analyze the roles of men and women in harvesting people's candlenut forests. The research was carried out in Barugae Village, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province in February-November 2022 with the process of collecting field data through observation, in-depth interviews, and FGD. The data obtained were then tabulated and processed and analyzed using gender analysis and descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the division of roles between men and women in the management of the people's candlenut forest is different. Men do work that uses physical strength and is culturally identical to men's work, such as burning as a method of clearing land, making simple beds, clearing weeds, and planting and harvesting during the main harvest stage. Women who are attached to themselves with jobs related to the domestic sector not only take on the role of preparing for consumption, but also do the same work that is done by men, such as seeding, harvesting at the stages of subsequent harvests and makkalice, and drying and peeling candlenut seeds.

Abstract

The increasing population has led to a growing demand for non-agricultural land, resulting in land use conversion. Often, land needs extend to areas designated as protected, such as riverbanks, road margins, and spring borders. The riverbank boundary is defined as the outer limit of a river channel designated as the river protection boundary. In recent years, the Mamasa Sub-Watershed (Sub DAS Mamasa) has experienced forest conversion into plantations and agriculture, impacting the hydrological function of the area. On the other hand, there is a lack of data explaining the functions of riverbank areas in the Mamasa Sub-Watershed. The objectives of this research are (1) to understand the land use along the riverbanks in the Mamasa Sub-Watershed and (2) to identify the conformity of land use along the riverbanks in the Mamasa Sub-Watershed with the Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 38 of 2011 concerning Rivers. The results of the land use identification along the riverbanks in the Mamasa Sub-Watershed include secondary forests (430.95 ha), primary forests (386.64 ha), mixed gardens (321.81 ha), rice fields (218.67 ha), fallow fields (179.25 ha), traditional vegetable gardens (194.65 ha), village settlements (51.83 ha), urban settlements (5.68 ha), coffee plantations (7.23 ha), cocoa plantations (17.93 ha), pine forests (59.60 ha), roads (23.51 ha), reservoirs (1.55 ha), shrublands (131.59 ha), bushes (28.94 ha), home gardens (18.88 ha), rock/sand expanses (3.73 ha), horticultural fields (9.86 ha), other open areas (2.37 ha), and an airport (0.41 ha). The appropriate land use along the riverbanks according to Regulation 38/2011 concerning Rivers is 1,043.01 ha (49.78%), while the non-compliant land use is 1,052.09 ha (50.22%).
