Abstract

This study examined farmers’ motivation in performing intensive cattle farming and analyzed factors affecting their motivation. This study was conducted in Pandawai Sub-District, East Sumba District from October to November 2019. Stratified random sampling was performed to select 45 samples in Pandawai District. Descriptive qualitative analysis and spearman level correlation test were performed to analyze the data. The results showed that farmers’ motivation in farming cattle intensively was categorized intermediate. Some factors including formal education, non-formal education, knowledge and attitudes had strong and significant influence on their motivation, while the intensity of communication also affected farmers’ motivation. In addition, age, length of farming cattle, livestock ownership and family responsibilities did not significantly affected farmers’ motivation. From research it could suggest that the motivation of farmers in performing intensive cattle farming in Pandawai Sub-district, East Sumba Regency was in the intermediate category. Knowledge, attitudes, formal education, non-formal education, and intensity of communication were factors that had significant influence on farmers’ motivation. Suggested staffs of the Livestock Service Office are suggested to improve the assistance and counselling for breeders to increase farmers’ motivation in farming their cattle intensively. Farmers are expected to be more active in carrying out intensive cattle farming for greater productivity, income and welfare. Key words : Motivation, farmers, cattle, intensive

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of concentrate on the performance of Bali cows given field-based feed. This research was conducted at the Amerta Sari Farmers Group (KTT), Kesiut Tabanan Village with a randomized block design (RAK). Treatment A was bali cattle given grass which was given ad libitum field plus concentrate containing pollard, treatment B was given ad libitum field grass plus concentrate containing rice bran, treatment C was given ad libitum field grass. The variables observed included ration consumption, daily weight gain, final weight and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that the NURSING treatment Rations and daily weight gain were above the treatment, namely 5.35 Kg BK / head / day and 0.63 Kg / head / day. The treatment also manages the highest ration management which is calculated with the lowest FCR value of 8.71. Based on the results of this study it can be denied that providing field grass-based rations with the addition of concentrate containing rice bran gives Bali cattle better performance than other treatments. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of replacing corn bran in complete feed with fermented bread waste flour on the appearance of male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) aged 0-8 weeks. This research was conducted at the Farm Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, which is located on Sesetan street Markisa alley no 5, Sesetan Village, South Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali, for 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications, so there were 15 experimental units. Each experimental unit used 3 male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) with a weight range of 50 ± 2 grams. The three treatments were male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) which were given complete feed treatment without bread waste (treatment A), male bali ducks (Anas sp.) which were given 50% waste of bread instead of corn bran (treatment B), and bali ducks. Male (Anas Sp.) treated with complete feed + 100% bread waste substitute for corn bran (treatment C). The variables observed included initial body weight, final body weight, weight gain, ration consumption and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). In general, the appearance of male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) treated (B) and (C) tended to be significantly higher (P<0.05) in final body weight, weight gain, and FCR were not significantly different ( P>0.05) compared to treatment (A). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) treated with complete feed + 50% bread waste (B) and male bali ducks (Anas Sp.) treated with complete feed + 100% bread waste can improved appearance of the male bali duck (Anas Sp.) aged 0-8 weeks. Abstract

Limbah kecambah kacang hijau merupakan bagian dari kecambah kacang hijau yang sudah tidak dimanfaatkan lagi dalam proses produksi, bahkan biasanya terbuang sia-sia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian ransum komersial dengan tepung limbah kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi terhadap organoleptik daging itik bali jantan umur delapan minggu. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan, tiap perlakuan menggunakan lima ulangan dan setiap ulangan menggunakan tiga ekor itik bali jantan dengan berat badan itik 43,8±0,96g. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu; P0 (ransum komersial 100%), P1 (penggantian 12,5% ransum komersial dengan tepung limbah kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi) dan P2 (penggantian 25% ransum komersial dengan tepung limbah kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi). Pengujian organoleptik menggunakan uji hedonik (uji kesukaan) dengan 16 orang panelis semi terlatih dengan variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah warna, tekstur, aroma, rasa, dan penilaian secara keseluruhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggantian 25% ransum komersial dengan tepung limbah kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi berpengaruh nyata lebih tinggi (P<0,05) terhadap organoleptik warna, tekstur, aroma, rasa, dan penilaian secara keseluruhan dengan nilai kesukaan penggantian 25% 4,06 (suka sampai amat suka) penggantian 12,5% tepung kulit kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi dengan nilai kesukaan 3,13 (biasa sampai suka) dan nilai terendah terletak pada perlakuan kontrol dengan nilai kesukaan pada angka 2,5 (tidak suka sampai biasa). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan penggantian sampai 25% ransum komersial dengan tepung limbah kecambah kacang hijau difermentasi mampu meningkatkan kesukaan panelis terhadap organoleptik daging itik bali jantan umur delapan minggu. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of consentration and marination time in binahong leaf extract on the physical and subjective quality of spent laying hens. This study was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Products Technology and Microbiology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar for one month. The design used was a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, namely the concentration factors of binahong leaf extract (K0: 0%, K1: 1.25%, and K2: 2.5%) and the factor for duration of marinated ?in binahong leaf extract (P0: 0 hour, P1: 1 hours, P3: 3 hours, and P5: 5 hours). Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times. The variables observed were cooking losses, pH, and organoleptic tests (texture of raw and cooked meat, aroma of raw and cooked meat, and taste of cooked meat). The results showed that the treatment factor for concentration had no significant effect on the physical characteristics and subjective value of meat (P>0.05). The treatment factor for the duration of marinated had no effect on the organoleptic test (P>0.05), but the duration of marinated was able to increase cooking losses and was able to decrease the pH value (P<0.05). The interaction between the two factors showed that K2P5 treatment could reduce cooking losses compared to K1P53 treatment (P<0.05), but had no effect on pH and organoleptic tests (P>0.05). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the concentration of 2.5% and the duration of marinated of 5 hours in binahong leaf extract (K2P5) increased the organoleptic quality of the spent laying hens and can improve the results of the physical characteristic of the meat. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fermented papaya leaves in the ration on the performance of kampung chickens. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications, each replication consisting of 3 kampung chickens. The treatments given were, P0 (rations without fermented papaya leaves), P1 (rations containing 10% fermented papaya leaves), P2 (rations containing 15% fermented papaya leaves), P3 (rations containing 20% ??fermented papaya leaves). The variables observed included ration consumption, initial body weight, final body weight, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance, if there is a significant difference between treatments (P <0.05). ), then Duncan's multiple range test was carried out. The results showed that rations containing 10% fermented papaya leaves (P1), rations containing 15% fermented papaya leaves (P2), and rations containing 20% ??fermented papaya leaves (P3), were able to significantly increase (P<0.05) final body weight, weight gain and feed coverage ratio (FCR) but not significantly different (P> 0.05) in the consumption of the ration compared to the control treatment (P0). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving turmeric solution in drinking water on the performance of quail aged 4-8 weeks. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 6 replications each replications consisting of 3 quails. The treatments consisted of drinking water without turmeric solution (A); drinking water with 1% turmeric solution (B); and drinking water with 2% turmeric solution (C). The variables observed were initial body weight, final body weight, ration consumption, drinking water consumption, weight gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that administration of 2% turmeric solution in drinking water (C) had an significant effect on feed conversion ratio (FCR) from the control treatment but had no significant effect (P>0,05) on final body weight, ration consumption, drinking water consumption and increase in body weight compared to A (without turmeric solution in drinking water) and B (1% turmeric solution in drinking water). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the quail aged 4-8 weeks gave of a 2% turmeric solution had a significant effect on the feed conversion ratio (FCR) of the control treatment, but between the control treatments, 1% and 2% turmeric solution on water whit no significant effect ration consumption, drinking water consumption, final body weight, and weight gain body. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of fermented papaya leaves in the ration on the carcass pieces percentage of kampung chicken, which was carried out for 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments and 4 replications, each replication consisted of 3 kampung chickens. The treatments given were, A: Ration without fermented papaya leaves, B: Ration containing 10% fermented papaya leaves, C: Ration containing 15% fermented papaya leaves, D: Ration containing 20% ??fermented papaya leaves. The variables observed included slaughtered weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, percentage of carcass pieces (chest, thighs, calves, back and wings). The results showed that the ration cantaining 10% fermented papaya leaves was able to significantly increase (P<0.05) by 15.78% in slaughtered weight and 19.05% in carcass weight. Slaughtered weight and carcass weight also increased significantly (P<0.05) with the ration containing 15% fermented papaya leaves by 19.26% and 20.04%, while the ration containing 20% fermented papaya leaves did not give significantly different results (P>0 0.05) on slaughtered weight, carcass weight, percentage of carcass and percentage of carcass pieces (chest, thighs, calves, back, wings). Based on the results of study, it could be concluded that the use of fermented papaya leaves in the ration level of 10-15% can increase the slaughtered weight and carcass weight but had no effect on the percentage of carcass and the percentage of carcass pieces (chest, thigh, calves back and wings) in native chickens. 10 weeks old. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of albumin as coating an egg shell and shelf life on the quality of eggs consumed during storage. The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial 4 × 3. The first factor was the treatment of eggshell coating using albumin, consisting of: A1 (control), A2 (thick albumin), A3 (liquid albumin), and A4 (mixed albumin). While the second factor is the treatment of storage time, consisting of: B1 (10 days), B2 (20 days) and B3 (30 days). Each treatment was repeated 3 times and each replication used 3 eggs, with a total of 108 eggs used. The variables observed included changes in egg weight loss, haugh unit, egg yolk index and pH. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there was a significant difference, it was continued with Duncan's Multiple Distance Test. The results of this study indicate that coating fresh chicken eggshells with albumin can maintain the quality of chicken eggs during storage in terms of haugh unit, egg yolk index and pH (P<0.05) and there is no interaction between eggshell coating with albumin and shelf life on quality. eggs (P>0.05). Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of the administration of amino acids lysine and methionine through drinking water on the quality of eggs stored for 4 weeks. The research was conducted in Candikusuma Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, Bali Province for 4 months. The completly randomized design were used in this experiment with four treatments (P0, P1, P2, and P3). P0: Chickens given drinking water without lysine and methionine. Q1: Chickens given drinking water added 0.1 % lysine and methionine. Q2: Chickens given drinking water added 0.15% lysine and methionine. Q3: Chickens given drinking water added 0.2% lysine and methionine. Each treatment is repeated 4 times so that there are 16 experimental units. The observed variables are the weight of the egg, the weight of the egg type, the index of the yolk, the color of the yolk, and the haugh value of the egg unit. The results showed no effect of lysine and methionine on egg yolk index, but had an effect on egg weight, egg type weight, egg yolk color and haugh unit.
