Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of noni leaf extract on the performance of male Bali ducks aged 0-8 weeks. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and five replications, each replication using two male Bali ducks with a weight of 63.6 ± 1.96 g ducks. The treatment given is; P0 (drinking water + without noni leaf extract), P1 (drinking water + 2ml noni leaf extract) and P2 (drinking water + 4ml noni leaf extract). The variables observed in this study were initial body weight, ration consumption, drinking water consumption, final body weight, weight gain and Feed Conversion Ratio. The results showed that giving 2 ml and 4 ml of noni leaf extract had no significant effect (P>0.05) on drinking water consumption, final body weight, weight gain and FCR, but had a significantly different effect (P<0.05) on ration consumption. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the administration of noni leaf extract as much as 2ml-4ml/head/day can not improve the performance of male Bali ducks. Abstract

Rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn) is one of the plants that is used as a preservative because it contains antioxidants and antibacterial. This research was conducted to determine the physical and organoleptic qualities of broiler meat marinated with rosella flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn). This research was carried out in March 2021 at the Animal Products Technology Laboratory (ENT) of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications in order to obtain 16 experimental units. The four treatments were: (P0) 100 grams of broiler meat without marinating or control, (P1) 100 grams of broiler meat marinated with 3% rosella flower extract, (P2) 100 grams of broiler meat marinated with rosella flower extract 6%, (P3) 100 grams of broiler meat marinated with 9% rosella flower extract, the duration of the marinade for all treatments was 30 minutes. The variables observed were the physical quality of pH, cooking loss, water holding capacity and organoleptic quality, namely color, aroma, texture and taste. The results showed that the 30 minute marinade with rosella flower extract up to 9% showed significantly different results (P<0.05) at the pH of the treatment P0 with P2, P0 with P3 and P1 with P2. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that 30 minutes of marinating with rosella flower extract up to 9% can reduce the pH value. The best pH was obtained in the P2 treatment (6%) while the cooking loss, water holding capacity and organoleptic got the same results in all treatments. Abstract

Eggs are one of the post harvest products that are easily damaged and have a relatively short shelf life. Preservation is one way to extend the shelf life and maintain the functional properties of foodstuffs that are easily damaged. This study aims to determine the effect of immersion on the quality of chicken eggs and duck eggs in ciplukan leaves extract with different containment periods and the interaction between containment periods and the type of eggs soaked with ciplukan leaves extract. The total eggs used in this study were 48 eggs. This study used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern, with two factors, namely containment periods (15 days and 30 days) and the type of egg (chicken eggs and duck eggs). The variables observed were changes in egg weight, egg white index (IPT), egg pH and colour yolk. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's multiple distance test at a 95% confidence level. The results of this study showed that the weight of eggs in the treatment of containment periods was significantly different (P<0.05), while in the treatment of egg types it was significantly different (P<0.05) on the egg white index (IPT) and egg pH. Colour variable yolk indicates the results are not significantly different (P>0.05). Soaking chicken eggs and duck eggs in 6% ciplukan leaves extract for 12 hours had an effect on egg weight, egg white index (IPT) and egg pH during storage. There was no interaction between containment periods treatment and egg type in all variables. Key words: chicken eggs, duck eggs, ciplukan leaves, containment periods, eggs quality
