Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the improvement of communication skills through project-based learning with integrated STEM in distance learning. The research method was a type of quantitative experiment using Pre-Test Post-Test in one group. The research sample was fifth grade students from A-Elementary School, B-Elementary School, C-Elementary School, D-Elementary School in Magelang City with a total of 78 students. Data obtained through tests collected on google forms. Communication skills were analyzed using the N-gain test. The relationship between written and oral communication was analyzed using the correlation test. Final results showed that the ability of oral and written communication increased by an average of 0.67 and 0.57 with the moderate category. The results of the N-gain showed that project-based learning with integrated STEM can improve oral and written communication of each student in the moderate category. The relationship between collaboration and communication skills showed a positive direction, which mean that the better oral communication skills, the better written communication skills will be

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is one of the important abilitiy for students to have since elementary school. This study aimed to determine the critical thinking ability of fourth grade students at SDN Sampangan 02. The method used was descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were students of SDN Sampangan 02. The data collection technique used was a critical thinking ability test referring to the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the interpretation of final scores, percentages and averages. The results showed that students' critical thinking abilitiy were in the low category. In the inference indicator, students' critical thinking ability was in the low category. In the indicator of assumption recognition, students' critical thinking ability was in the low category. On deduction indicators, students' critical thinking ability was in the low category. In interpretation indicator, students' critical thinking ability was in the low category. The last, in the indicator of evaluation argument, students' critical thinking ability was also in the low category.

Abstract

Teachers’ job performance is becoming an important thing that runs the school service to society. Teachers’ performance becomes the representatives of the school, direct or indirect. The study becomes more interesting when it involves empowering leadership and job crafting as the variables and well-being as the mediator. This study aims to find out the effect of empowering leadership, job crafting, and well-being towards XYZ school teachers' job performance. It used PLS-SEM as the method to calculate the data, and it involved 80 teachers. The data was collected by spreading an online questionnaire due to the pandemic Covid-19. As a result, there are positive relations between empowering leadership, job crafting, and well-being towards job performance. Abstract

The leadership style of the principal can be described in various labels, for example the principal is generous, stubborn and straightforward, convincing and others. Today, educational institutions need a leadership style that is transformative and capable of seeing opportunities for change and development in modern times. This study aims to analyze the principal's leadership style in increasing the non-academic achievement of students at MA DarulMahmudien. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The samples in this research were the principal and teachers who were taken by purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and document study. Data analysis used the stages of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the principal's leadership style was transformative and democratic. This can be seen from his ability to manage school management from planning to evaluation. In addition, it can be seen from his daily behavior in establishing relationships with fellow teachers and with other employees. The leadership of the MA DarulMahmudien principal is able to increase teacher motivation and student non-academic achievement, which is evidenced by the various achievements obtained by students in several sports fields at the sub-district, provincial or national level. The conclusion is that the leadership of the principal of MA DarulMahmudien has been effective in increasing students' non-academic achievement by taking various steps.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia plays an important role in nation-building, particularly its people. Schools’ success is very much dependent on that of their principals in exercising their roles and performing tasks. One of the decisive factors which the quality of education and school effectivity depend on is a principal’s leadership. The purpose of this research is to analyze the school principal’s leadership at SMP Daarul Qur’an Ungaran, Central Java. This is a descriptive and qualitative research employing study-case approach. Using purposive sampling, the respondents of this research are the school principal, teachers and school committee. The collection of data was carried out by interview, observation and documents study using source triangulation as the technique to ensure their validity. The data were then analyzed by utilizing data reduction, data display and verification or inference. The result of the research shows that the principal is able to fulfill his tasks and responsibilities as the leader at SMP Daarul Qur’an Ungaran, Central Java, promoting democratic leadership. The leadership of SMP Daarul Qur’an principal has been highly regarded by his subordinates (teachers, staff and students alike). The school principal is constantly attempting to improve the quality of the service in place, both the academic and religious aspects, so as to uphold its position as an Islamic education institution by maintaining religious values in learning process at SMP Daarul Qur’an. The success and effectivity of SMP Daarul Qur’an principal’s leadership take shape in his quotidian attitude, delegation of tasks, decision making, supervision, school development, communication, motivational speech and provision of rewards to his subordinates.

Abstract

This study is purposed to describe the student’s activities and the obstacles during the learning process of 5thgrade’s Theme 1 Organ of Motions of Animals and Human, Sub-theme 2 Organ of Motions in Human and the Environment. This study was conducted with qualitative method by using case study strategy. The subject of this study is the 5 grader students in Dabin-I UPK Banyumas. The data was collected by doing observation, interview and documentation. The collected data was analized by doing data reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. The validity test was conducted by doing credibility test using technique and source triangulation. The result of this study showed that the student’s activities have been corresponding the scientific syntaxes, which included observation, asking question, trying, reasoning, and communicating, although it’s not optimaly done in the classroom. Students can conduct the learning process with teacher’s gaudance. The teacher used the autenthic valuation to evaluate the student’s competence, although it wasn’t done in every learning season. Teachers have done the valuation including the attitude, knowledge, and skill evaluation. The obstacles can be found in learning planning, practice , and evaluation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the role of principal leadership in carrying out its function to improve the quality of education at SD Islam Ta’allumul Huda Bumiayu. This research approach is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected by structured interviews, unstructured interviews, and document studies. The results of this study indicate that the role used by the principal in order to improve the quality of education at SD Islam Ta’allumul Huda Bumiayu is (1) the role of the principal as an educator, where the principal always provides guidance and direction to the board of teachers and students in an educational context. (2) the role of the principal as a supervisor, where the principal always supervises and controls the performance of teachers and school programs. (3) the role of the principal as a leader, where the principal always encourages enthusiasm and confidence of all stakeholders in carrying out their duties. (4) the role of the principal as an innovator, where the principal is always looking for and implementing new ideas and being an example or example for all school members. The benefit of this research is to provide insight into the field of educational management related to principal leadership in improving the quality of education at the primary school level as well as being used as material for evaluating and supporting the work of school principals.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how male and female learners' mathematics literacy skills with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles are. The applied research method was a mixed method. The applied strategy was a sequential explanatory. The population of this research consisted of the fifth graders of 023 Pekkabata Public Primary School in the academic year of 2019/2020. The applied sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample was taken from one class. It was the Melati V class. The findings showed that (1) the learning applied by the problem-based learning model was effective toward the learners' mathematics literacy skills; (2) both male and female learners with visual learning styles met the seven indicators of mathematics literacy. They almost mastered all indicators. However, for male and female learners with auditory and kinesthetic learning style could not meet all mathematics literacy skill indicators but only several of the indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning management of the al-Qur’an tutorial program and fiqh of worship at Sultan Agung Islamic University Semarang. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. The research subjects consisted of the Head of the al-Qur’an Tutorial Division, tutor coordinator, tutor/mentor and tutorial participants. The data collection technique used the interview method, observation, and document analysis. The research instrument was the researcher and the interview guide, observation and document analysis. The validity of the data was done by triangulating the source and triangulating the findings. Data analysis used interactive Miles-Huberman analysis consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the management planning of the tutorial program al-Qur'an and fiqh of worship at the Islamic University of Sultan Agung Semarang was guided by: (1) Analysis of student needs/problems (2) Analysis of the conditions and situation of the university, (3) Determination of objectives, (4) ) Determining the type, technique and strategy of activities, (5) Determining the time and place of activities, (6) Determining facilities and budgeting costs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the pedagogical competence of teachers in learning process inside the classroom. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, documentation data reduction, display data, and conclusion drawing / verification . The research subjects were the headmaster and teachers at SDN Pati Kidul 01. Based on the results of the study, the result of this study indicate that the real performance of teacher pedagogical competence is reflected as follow, (1) utilization of technology by the teacher as an alternative in the learning process in the classroom by looking at the conditions of the school, the condition of students, the environment, and infrastructure. (2) the teacher connects the material to be taught with new news and then draws it into the conclusions so that students be able to understand the values within each subject. (3) three aspects in the assessment are knowledge, attitudes, and skills.
