Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is a significant public health problem, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of school-based comprehensive sexuality education in reducing teenage pregnancy rates through improving knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviours. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design on 200 secondary school students in an area with high pregnancy rates. The UNESCO guideline-based comprehensive sexuality education intervention covered biological, emotional, social aspects, and decision-making skills delivered through active learning. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire and analysed using t-test and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, attitude, and pregnancy prevention behaviour scores in the intervention group compared to the control (p < 0.001). The regression model revealed that knowledge and attitude were the main predictors of prevention behaviour with a contribution of 54.2%. These findings confirm that comprehensive sexuality education is effective in improving reproductive health literacy and shaping healthy and responsible sexual behaviour. Therefore, the main recommendation is to integrate this programme into the national curriculum and strengthen teacher training to support sustainable teenage pregnancy prevention.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a very vulnerable period that requires special attention, not only for pregnant women, but also for the safety of the fetus. Based on the results of a preliminary survey conducted in the working area of the Sababilah Community Health Center, it was found that the coverage of pregnancy visits, both Pregnant Women Visits (KI) and Fourth Visits (K4), was still very low. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between demographic factors and antenatal care visits in pregnant women in their third trimester. A cross-sectional study design was used in this study. The study was conducted in Sababilah in October 2024. The population consisted of all pregnant women in their third trimester who had made their sixth visit. The sample consisted of 30 respondents. The sampling technique used total sampling. The research instrument used a research questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed a relationship between occupation (p value: 0.04) and education (p value: 0.00) and ANC visits. Health workers and cadres are advised to further enhance promotion and education programs for pregnant women regarding the importance of attending antenatal care visits. Pregnant women should be encouraged to be more motivated and caring towards their pregnancies, adopt positive health behaviors, and be more active in participating in health services, especially antenatal care visits. Keywords: Antenala Care, Work, Education

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension prevalence in Indonesia continues to increase, and unhealthy lifestyle factors such as high-salt diets, physical inactivity, and smoking are widely recognized as important modifiable risk factors. This study aims to examine the association between unhealthy lifestyle behaviors and hypertension in Indonesia. Methods: A systematic review was carried out based on the PRISMA framework, aiming to identify, screen, and evaluate relevant studies published from 2015 to 2025. Articles were searched through the Scopus, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases, focusing on studies examining the relationship between unhealthy lifestyles and hypertension in Indonesia Results: Of the 19 studies analysed, most employed cross-sectional designs. High salt intake, smoking habits, and low physical activity were consistently associated with higher odds of hypertension. Several studies also indicated stronger associations among individuals with sedentary lifestyles. However, given the predominance of cross-sectional evidence, the findings primarily reflect associations rather than causal relationships. Conclusion: Unhealthy lifestyle factors including high salt intake, low physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, stress, and poor sleep patterns are consistently associated with hypertension in Indonesia. These findings underscore the importance of population-level strategies promoting healthy dietary practices, increased physical activity, and behavioral risk reduction. However, given the predominance of cross-sectional evidence, further longitudinal and methodologically robust studies are needed to strengthen causal inference.
