Abstract

Antioksidan adalah senyawa yang dapat memberikan perlindungan terhadap kerusakan yang disebabkan oleh radikal bebas. Kulit buah jeruk manis (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) dan wortel (Daucus carota L.) diketahui mengandung antioksidan yang dapat mencegah terjadinya penuaan dini pada kulit. Pengaplikasian kulit buah jeruk manis dan wortel secara langsung pada kulit diketahui dapat menyebabkan peradangan pada kulit, sehingga perlu diformulasikan ke dalam bentuk sediaan. Kebaruan penelitian ini yaitu meneliti efektivitas antioksidan dalam sediaan serum yang berisi kombinas ekstrak etanol kulit buah jeruk manis dan ampas wortel. Penelitiaan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan kombinasi kulit buah jeruk manis dan ampas wortel dalam bentuk ekstrak etanol dalam sediaan serum. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan tahapan pembuatan simplisia, skrining fitokimia, ekstraksi, pembuatan sediaan serum dengan komposisi ekstrak etanol kulit buah jeruk manis dan ampas wortel dengan perbandingan (Kulit Jeruk): Ampas Wortel) 2:1 pada F2, 1:2 pada F3, 1:1 pada F4, tunggal kulit jeruk pada F5, dan tunggal ampas wortel pada F6. Dilanjutkan dengan pegujian antioksidan serum dilakukan dengan spektrofotometri visible menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil pemeriksaan skrining fitokimia kulit buah jeruk mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, glikosida, tanin. Sedangkan ampas wortel mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, glikosida. Uji DPPH menunjukkan sedian mengandung antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 F2 71,01µg/mL, F3 86,70µg/mL, F4 84,61/mL, F5 43,18µg/mL, dan F6 dengan hasil IC50 130,94µg/mL. Kesimpulannya sediaan F2 sebagai formula kombinasi terbaik dengan kategori “Kuat”.

Abstract

Linimen Fresh Oil is a natural-based product with significant potential to support community health, particularly as a topical oil for pain relief and relaxation. This community service program aims to educate the residents of Empus Village, Bahorok District, on the production of Linimen Fresh Oil. The program is designed to enhance community knowledge and skills in utilizing local natural resources as raw materials for health products. The implementation methods include lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and intensive mentoring for participants. The ingredients used include coconut oil, essential oils such as peppermint and eucalyptus, and local herbal extracts readily available in the area. During the program, participants were taught simple yet effective formulation techniques, including blending, packaging, and storage procedures. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test surveys to measure participants' knowledge improvement and practical assessments to evaluate their skills. The results demonstrated a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the benefits and production techniques of Linimen Fresh Oil. Additionally, participants successfully produced the liniment independently, meeting quality standards for personal use and potential small-scale businesses. This program is expected to contribute to community self-reliance, local resource management, and economic well-being by developing natural-based products.

Abstract

Shopee is an e-commerce widely used by Indonesians to buy and sell products and can shop safely. Shopee shows that in 2020, moisturizers was the top selling product in the beauty category. The moisturizers sold have different ingredients, come from many brands, and have different price points. The objective of the study is to compare the 3 best-selling moisturizers in the shopee category that are more effective in improving skin problems. This study was a quantitative study using a true experimental design with a posttest only control group design consisting of 4 groups, namely 3 groups using 3 best-selling moisturizer brands based on the shopee category and 1 control group. The sample of this study was selected based on the inclusion criteria consisting of 20 volunteers and the test was conducted for 4 weeks of application on the volunteers' skin by looking at the measured parameters of moisture, pores, blemishes and wrinkles. The results showed that the activity test of moisturizer A had a faster recovery in increasing moisture content (54.8%), shrinking pore size (23.8%), reducing blemishes (19.9%) and wrinkles 28.9%.

Abstract

Balakka (Phyllanthus emblica L) is a wild plant, commonly used as a cooking spice called holat. The stem of balakka is believed to contain alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins that have antibacterial properties. Most previous studies have focused on the fruit and leaves of balakka. On the other hand, Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria are normal flora on human skin that cause infections. The increasing resistance of these bacteria to antibiotics makes it important to find alternative natural antibacterial agents. The purpose of this study was to examine the antibacterial activity of balakka stem extract and cream against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and to evaluate the physical quality of the cream. This study used experimental methodology. The maceration method used ethanol p.a. on 100 g of balakka stem simplisia. The stages included phytochemical screening, cream formulation with concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3%, and physical quality tests (organoleptic, homogeneity, emulsion type, pH, viscosity, stability, and irritation). Antibacterial tests were carried out using the agar well diffusion method on extracts and cream preparations. The results showed that 19.30 g of thick extract was obtained, which was positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins. The resulting cream met physical quality standards, was homogeneous, had an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion type, a pH of 5.3–6.2, was stable, and did not cause irritation. The antibacterial activity of the extract showed inhibition zones of 14.5 mm (100 mg/ml), 11.5 mm (75 mg/ml), and 8.5 mm (50 mg/ml), while the cream showed 5.5 mm (1%), 7.5 mm (2%), and 9.5 mm (3%). Thus, ethanol extract of balakka stems has potential as an antibacterial agent and can be formulated into a safe cream that meets physical quality standards.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan penyakit tidak menular yang kasusnya terus terjadi peningkatan di masyarakat dan menjadi salah satu faktor risiko utama pada penyakit kardiovaskular. Minimnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap upaya pencegahan hipertensi melalui pola hidup sehat serta pemanfaatan bahan alami menjadi salah satu penyebab tingginya angka kejadian hipertensi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga Bunga Cempaka Gang Cempaka Bersama Kelurahan PB. Selayang II, Kecamatan Medan Selayang, dalam mencegah hipertensi dengan memanfaatkan ramuan tradisional berbahan dasar tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA). Metode kegiatan ini meliputi penyuluhan kesehatan mengenai hipertensi dan faktor risikonya, disertai presentasi cara pembuatan ramuan tradisional penurun tekanan darah seperti daun seledri, daun salam, dan sereh, dengan salah satu metode ekstraksi yaitu infusa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang pentingnya pencegahan hipertensi dan kemampuan mereka dalam meracik ramuan tradisional yang aman dan mudah diaplikasikan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong kemandirian masyarakat dalam menjaga kesehatan melalui pendekatan alami dan berkelanjutan.
