Abstract

The 68th Malaysian Independence Day celebration, carrying the theme “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni,” was held on August 28, 2025, at Sekolah Menengah Islam (SMI) Ad-Dimyati, Kuala Selangor, aiming to instill the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, and love for the homeland among the school community. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method through participatory observation, documentation, and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that a series of activities such as classroom decoration competitions, flag-raising ceremonies, poetry recitations, and patriotic song performances effectively strengthened national character values and enhanced the active participation of the entire school community, including teachers, staff, students, and KKN (Community Service Program) students. Beyond a ceremonial celebration, this event served as a means of character education integrated with real-life experiences, aligning with the concept of hidden curriculum in education. These findings emphasize the importance of national day commemorations in educational institutions as a medium for learning historical values, national identity, and social solidarity. Therefore, the Independence Day celebration at SMI Ad-Dimyati can serve as an ideal model for other schools in integrating character education with contextual and reflective national activities.

Abstract

Keterbatasan ruang kelas (defisit ruang) masih menjadi permasalahan yang banyak dihadapi sekolah dasar dan berpotensi mengganggu efektivitas proses pembelajaran. Kondisi ini menuntut adanya strategi manajemen ruang pembelajaran yang adaptif agar kegiatan belajar tetap dapat berlangsung secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis manajemen ruang pembelajaran dalam mengoptimalkan proses belajar pada kondisi defisit ruang kelas di sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus yang dilaksanakan di SD Negeri Sukamanah Kabupaten Cianjur dan SD Negeri Caringin 2 Kabupaten Sukabumi. Penentuan subjek penelitian dilakukan melalui teknik purposive sampling, meliputi kepala sekolah dan guru sebagai informan utama. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, sedangkan keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen ruang pembelajaran dilakukan melalui perencanaan penggunaan ruang, pengorganisasian jadwal pembelajaran, pemanfaatan ruang alternatif di lingkungan sekolah, serta evaluasi penggunaan ruang secara berkala. Strategi tersebut memungkinkan proses pembelajaran tetap berlangsung secara efektif meskipun dalam kondisi keterbatasan ruang kelas. Selain itu, kemampuan guru dalam menyesuaikan metode pembelajaran serta peran kepala sekolah dalam mengoordinasikan pengelolaan ruang menjadi faktor penting dalam mendukung optimalisasi proses belajar. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penguatan perencanaan berbasis kebutuhan, pengembangan sistem penjadwalan yang lebih fleksibel, serta peningkatan kreativitas pemanfaatan ruang alternatif. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk mengkaji efektivitas manajemen ruang pembelajaran melalui pendekatan kuantitatif atau mixed-method serta pada konteks sekolah yang lebih beragam.

Abstract

Islamic character education is a central objective of Islamic Religious Education, requiring alignment between curriculum policy and teacher-related factors. This study aims to examine the relationship and influence of Merdeka Curriculum implementation and teacher motivation on Islamic character education in Islamic Religious Education learning. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to teachers of Islamic Religious Education at Islamic integrated elementary schools and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques.The results indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and teacher motivation are positively and significantly related to Islamic character education. Partially, each independent variable has a significant influence on Islamic character education, while simultaneously, their combined contribution is stronger. These findings suggest that effective curriculum implementation supported by high teacher motivation plays a critical role in strengthening students’ Islamic character. This study highlights the importance of integrating curriculum policy and teacher motivation within a unified framework to optimize Islamic character education in Islamic Religious Education learning.
