Abstract

This study aims to determine the history and aesthetic values of tengkuluk as the traditional costumes of Malay women in Jambi. The benefits of this research are expected to be one of the inventory cultural of Malay culture in Jambi, in the scope scientific science. The method in this study was qualitative method with a symbolic interaction approach. With the background of the diversity of natural and cultural wealth possessed by the Jambi province, there covers some values of beauty, philosophy and cultural aesthetic values. One of the aesthetics of the tekuluk / tengkuluk is as headgear that has an important part in the traditional costumes of Malay women in Jambi. The use of tengkuluk as a symbol of the head covering has a philosophical meaning that was closely related to traditional customs and Islamic. The entry of Islamic in the Malay land affected the concept of custom in using of female Malay headgear in Jambi. It can be concluded that tengkuluk was not only as a headgear but also as a cover for part of the body which is forbidden to see, which were inventoried in the Jambi traditional seloko which is  "Adat Bersendi Syara’, Syara’ Bersendi Kitabullah. Syara’ Mengato, Adat Memakai.” That rhymes became a philosophical value in the art of aesthetic tying for Malay women in Jambi which had a uniqueness of aesthetic and artistic values without using the help of a safety pin. In addition, when Islam had developed in Malay landl, the clothes of the brackets and tengkuluk became one cohesion that functioned not only as a head covering or body wrap, but it was a necessity as the identity of Malay Muslim identity, the tengkuluk became a part of the female genitalia in accordance with Islamic law thriving in Malay land.

Abstract

This research would focus on studying of Jambi Malay Culture from the point of view baju kurung as the traditional clothing of Jambi Malay women. By using qualitative research methods with a historical approach, this study aimed to determine the history and meaning of the philosophical values of baju kurung with its development ethically and aesthetically as the traditional clothing of Jambi Malay women. The benefits of this research were expected to become an inventory of Jambi Malay culture in the scientific studies. In the background of the diversity of natural and cultural wealth owned by Jambi province, there were many kinds of values of beauty, philosophy and cultural ethical and aesthetic values, one of them was an aesthetics in clothing which was important part of traditional Jambi Malay women's clothing. Baju kurung as a symbol of Jambi Malay Muslimah women have a philosophical meaning that was closely related to traditional and Islamic customs. The entry of Islam in the land of Malay Jambi influenced the concept of dressing up in Jambi's Malay women. It can be concluded that baju kurung was a reflection of the identity of Muslimah women in Jambi, according to Islamic law, which is described in the seloko of custom Jambi "adat bersendi syara’, syara’ bersendi kitabullah. Syara’ mangato, adat memakai. " The seloko of custom Jambi has become a philosophical value in the art of dressing Jambi Malay women which has the uniqueness of ethical and aesthetic values without reducing the elegance of Jambi Malay women.

Abstract

Abstract: Malay Culture in Historical Perspective during the New Order: Javanese Transmigrant Art and Culture In Sungai Bahar District, Muaro Jambi. This study looks at how the culture of Javanese transmigration in Sungai Bahar District in the New Order. The long history of transmigration has given color to one of the Sungai Bahar, Province of Jambi. How do the transmigration (migrants) who are mostly Javanese people can survive in a new place with a new environment in terms of geography different from their areas of origin. Early life in transmigration areas which was quite difficult made these communities have to work together. Some of their activities are done so they can feel at home and stay in the placement area. Art and culture (Art) which is a place that gets enough attention and enthusiasm is quite high. Where every activity or event in the area of Java, this can always be performed. The high interest of the community has also encouraged the Sungai Bahar transmigration community to create communities of art as a place for them to be creative and to preserve their original culture.Keyword: art, culture, transmigration, java, sungai bahar. Abstrak: Budaya Melayu Dalam Perspektif Sejarah Pada Masa Orde Baru: Seni Budaya Suku Jawa Transmigran Di Kecamatan Sungai Bahar, Muaro Jambi. Penelitian ini melihat bagaimana seni budaya transmigran Jawa di Kecamatan Sungai Bahar masa orde baru. Sejarah transmigrasi yang cukup panjang telah memberikan warna bagi daerah penempatan salah satunya daerah Sungai Bahar, Provinsi Jambi. Bagaimana  para transmigran (pendatang) yang kebanyakan adalah masyarakat Jawa bisa bertahan di tempat baru dengan lingkungan baru dari segi geografis berbeda dari daerah asal mereka. Kehidupan awal di daerah transmigran yang cukup sulit membuat masyarakat ini harus saling bekerja sama. Beberapa kegiatan mereka lakukan supaya bisa betah dan bertahan di daerah penempatan. Seni budaya (Kesenian) yang menjadi wadah yang cukup mendapat perhatian dan antusias yang cukup tinggi. Dimana setiap ada kegiatan atau acara kesenian daerah jawa ini selalu bisa tampil. Tingginya minat masyarakat juga mendorong masyarakat transmigrasi Sungai Bahar membuat paguyuban-paguyuban kesenian sebagai wadah mereka berkreasi dan tetap melestarikan kebudayaan asal mereka. Kata kunci: seni,budaya, transmigrasi,jawa,sungai bahar

Abstract

Existing studies on the economic history of plantations have hardly considered gambir, (or cat’s claw, Uncaria gambir roxb.), as a marketable commodity. In fact, during the colonial time in Indonesia gambir was one of the export commodities that formed the core of the people’s economy. This paper examines some aspects of the growth and socio-economic functions of the gambir plantations in the West Sumatra region of Lima Puluh Kota in the period from 1833 to 1930. It argues that the production and the marketing of gambir as an export commodity excelled other commodities in terms of quantity in the early period under study. However, the fact that gambir continued to be exported as a raw material made the decline of its popularity compared to other commodities such as coffee and pepper.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan guna mengetahui, bagaimana aksi-aksi kekerasan saat ini tidak hanya terjadi di kota-kota besar saja yang biasanya selalu identik dengan tindakan kriminalnya, tetapi sudah merambat ke kota-kota kecil di daerah bahkan desa yang selalu dianggap kuat kearifan lokalnya. Salah satu tindakan kekerasan yang membuat kita tersadarkan lagi yaitu meletusnya konflik Mesuji-Lampung pada 10 November 2011 yang terkait masalah tanah antara warga dan perusahaan perkebunan. Konflik ini telah banyak memakan korban. Melihat sejarah masyarakat Lampung dan perkembangannya sekarang untuk mengetahui bagaimana mulai munculnya kriminalitas di Lampung. Sebab, Lampung selalu dicap daerah pemasok banyak penjahat yang tak hanya beraksi di Lampung tetapi juga di Luar Lampung yang terkenal berasal dari Jabung, Lampung Timur. Jabung telah dicap sebagai daerah ”hitam” yang menghasilkan pelaku kriminalitas. This study was conducted to determine how the violence is now not only in big cities are usually always synonymous with criminal action, but has spread to small towns in the area even village has always been considered a strong local wisdom. One act of violence that makes us awaken again that Mesuji-Lampung conflict erupted on November 10, 2011, which related to the problem of land between residents and plantation companies. This conflict has been a lot of casualties. Lampung look at the history and development community now to find out how to start the rise of criminality in Lampung. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan data kualitatif melalui pendekatan sejarah, mengandalkan data kepustakaan dan wawancara.untuk mengetahui dan menggali sejarah dan peranan lembaga adat melayu Jambi dalam membantu pemerintahan guna melestarikan budaya melayu Jambi. Fokuskan penelitian ini pada kajian peran lembaga adat dalam melestarikan budaya melayu Jambi.Pemahaman tentang perananan dan eksistensi lembaga adat melayu Jambi sebagait mitra pemerintah dalam pembangunan bidang kebudayaan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa lembaga adat memiliki peranan yang penting dalam pembagunan. Lembaga adat melayu Jambi merupakan mitra pemerintah dan pembangun dan menggampil kebijakan-kebijakan yang menyangkut mayarakat Jambi. Lembaga adat memberi masuk-masukan dan pembinaan-pembinaan pada norma-norma, nilai-nilai budaya masyarakat Jambi. Simpulannya, lembaga ada dan pemerintahan bermitra bersama-sama menciptakan lingkungan yang kondusif demi terciptanya kedamaian dan lancarnya pembangunan di Jambi. Kata kunci: LAM, lembaga adat, melayu Jambi, peranan, adat, budaya.

Abstract

Abstract: Tanah merupakan harta pusaka yang sangat berharga di Minangkabau yang dijaga dengan baik oleh Adat. Kepemilikan tanah merupakan harta milik ulayat di bawah garis keturunan perempuan. Kekuasaan Belanda mengakibatkan kepemilikan tanah mulai goyah karena campur tangan yang dilakukan oleh Belanda yaitu melakukan pemberian sertifikat tanah kepada siapa saja yang membuka lahan tidur (waste land). Padahal dalam adat Minangkabau semua tanah sudah ada pemiliknya walaupun tanah itu belum digarap. Hal ini pun dilakukan pada zaman Orde Baru, bagaimana pemerintah pusat mulai mencampuri kehidupan nagari (desa) sehingga adat lama yang dijalankan oleh masyarakat Minangkabau mulai kabur dan tak jelas. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan interaksi simbolik. Bertujuan untuk mengetahi sejarah, makna nilai-nilai filosofi dalam estetika dan perkembangan pakaian tradisional perempuan melayu Jambi. Manfaat dari penelitian ini diharapkan bisa menjadi salah satu inventarisasi budaya melayu dalam ranah ilmiah. Berlatar belakang adanya keanekaragaman kekayaan alam dan budaya yang dimiliki provinsi Jambi, terdapat nilai-nilai keindahan, fasafah dan nilai-nilai estetika budaya, salah satunya etika dan estetika dalam berpakaian merupakan bagian penting dalam pakaian tradisional perempuan melayu Jambi. Baju kurung dan tengkuluk sebagai simbol perempuan muslimah melayu Jambi, makna filosofi yang erat dengan adat tradisi dan Islam. Masuk dan berkembangnya Islam di tanah melayu Jambi mempengaruhi konsep adat cara berpakaian perempuan melayu Jambi. Pakaian tidak hanya sebagai pembungkus tubuh secara adat tetapi juga menjadi pembungkus aurat secara syariat. Dapat disimpulkan baju kurung dan tengkuluk merupakan cerminan jati diri perempuan muslimah melayu Jambi sesuai dengan syariat Islam tergambarkan dalam seloko adat Jambi “adat bersendi syara’, syara’ bersendi kitabullah. Syara’ mengato, adat memakai.” Seloko adat tersebut menjadi nilai filosofi dalam seni berpakaian perempuan melayu Jambi yang memiliki keunikan dari nilai etika dan estika tanpa mengurangi keanggunan perempuan melayu Jambi dalam segi fashion.

Abstract

After Indonesia's independence, various internal conflicts occurred which caused several major upheavals. These include Permesta, PRRI, 1965, and 1998 incidents. Not only upheavals, but also crimes, such as rape, looting, torture, and even genocide. This is what makes literary works present by recounting incidents of violence or disappearances that occurred during the upheaval, one of which is the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori which discusses the events of 1998. Genocide events can be one of the factors that cause trauma, so Hirsch explained that genocide can be a factor in the occurrence of memory transmission to the next generation. Thus, an analysis of how genocide is described to form trauma to the victim or the people around the victim is interesting to explore. The research method used in this study is descriptive narrative analysis obtained through novels or other supporting references that support the presence of a genocide narrative so that trauma can be analyzed by victims or the people around them. The result of this study is that there was a genocide in the Wiratna and Wirasena communities, they were considered to have carried out activities against the government resulting in detention, torture, and disappearances. This incident of disappearance or genocide caused the victim who managed to escape, his family, and even those around the victim to be traumatized by this event. Although, in the end, they were able to start accepting reality.
