Abstract

The results of the 2023 Basic Health Research in East Java showed that 98.5% of severe ODGJ had received mental health services, but this achievement still did not meet the target. The imbalance between the increase in cases and the number of patients seeking treatment is a major challenge. One of the contributing factors is the lack of continuous monitoring by limited health workers. Therefore, this mental health counseling activity aims to increase the role of families in supporting the recovery of ODGJ patients through education and assistance. This activity was carried out in Sumberwaru Village for one day and involved 8 ODGJ families and 22 mothers of toddlers and the elderly. The methods used included counseling through lectures, interactive discussions, and question and answer sessions. Evaluation of success was carried out with a pre-test and post-test to measure the increase in participants' understanding before and after the activity. In addition, direct observation was carried out on family involvement in caring for patients, such as reminding them to take medication and taking them to the mental health post. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding from 69.33% in the pre-test to 90.66% in the post-test, indicating success in increasing family awareness of their role in accompanying ODGJ. In addition, families were more active in ensuring that patients received the necessary care. In conclusion, family-based counseling is effective in increasing family understanding and involvement in ODGJ care, so it can help prevent relapse and improve the patient's quality of life.

Abstract

Plant inventory is an activity aimed at documenting and classifying plant species within a specific area. This study investigated the utilization of traditional medicines in the Lengger District, Tuvan Province, focusing on the types of medicinal plants, their properties, uses, and the specific plant parts employed. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, and data were collected through observations and interviews. The sampling technique followed a snowball sampling approach, where key informants were identified based on predefined criteria, and additional informants were selected through recommendations. The findings revealed that the community in the Lengger District utilizes 54 types of medicinal plants for traditional healing practices. The conclusion of this research is that preserving traditional medicinal knowledge is very important to prevent the loss of information about the benefits and uses of medicinal plants that have been passed down from generation to generation. Further research is needed to reveal the bioactive content, effectiveness, and safety of medicinal plants so that they can be developed into scientifically based therapies. Given the community's dependence on medicinal plants, conservation efforts through sustainable cultivation and protection of natural habitats must be implemented to ensure their availability in the future and maintain ecosystem balance. Abstract

There are approximately 400 distinct ethnic groups in Indonesia (ethnic and sub-ethnic). Traditional medical practices are one example of the kinds of knowledge that have been handed down from one generation to the next in every nation, tribe, and subgroup within those nations. The people who live in the Lumajang Regency continue to have faith in the efficacy of traditional medicine. The practice of traditional medicine or shamans who treat residents around their residences in a number of districts in Lumajang, one of which is the Sumbersuko district, is evidence that this is the case. In the Sumbersuko District, there are a total of eight speakers who continue to uphold traditions related to the use of natural materials in medical practice. Interviews and questionnaires are being used as tools for the descriptive methodology that underpins this research project. According to the findings of this research, there are 37 different species of plants that are used as traditional medicine by the local community in the Sumbersuko District. These plants are categorized into 26 different families, with the Zingiberaceae family containing the most types of plants, including as many as 5 different species of plants. According to the findings of this research, the members of the community in the Sumbersuko District utilize the following plant parts: leaves, rhizomes, bulbs, fruits, skin, seeds, stems, flowers, sap, and all other plant parts. The leaf is the most commonly used component of the plant. To prepare plants for use, they are typically boiled, grated, ground, kneaded, and squeezed before being put to direct use. Keywords: consist of 3-5 words or phrases represent the focus of writing.

Abstract

Abstract

Neem leaves are one of the natural ingredients used as an acne treatment. To avoid side effects from synthetic drugs, it is necessary to develop drugs from natural ingredients such as neem leaves. The aim of this research was to develop a facial spray with neem leaf extract as an anti acne-agent. This research method uses as a posttest-only design by giving different treatments to the propylene glycol concentration (5%, 10%, and 15%) and then carrying out a stability test. The stability tests carried out are organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, microbial contamination tests, and dry time tests as preparation evaluations. The results of the stability test showed that the preparation was stable during storage at room temperature, as well as the influence of differences in propylene glycol concentration of the viscosity and drying time of the preparation. It was concluded that neem leaf extract could be formulated as a facial spray with good dosage stability.
