Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model through the snakes and ladders game media in learning to write personal letters to class VII students of SMP Plus Ja-alhaq, Bengkulu City. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of the study were teachers and class VII students. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the PJBL model through the snakes and ladders game media can increase students' motivation, activeness, and writing skills. The snakes and ladders media that are designed interactively and attractively make the learning process more enjoyable, foster creativity, and strengthen cooperation between students. The obstacles faced such as time constraints and student adaptation to new media can be overcome with good time management and teacher direction. In conclusion, the implementation of PJBL assisted by the snakes and ladders game media is effective in improving the ability to write personal letters to class VII students of SMP Plus Ja-alhaq, Bengkulu City.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji unsur intrinsik dan nilai moral dalam novel Pulang Nak, Ummi Rindu karya Devita Arrasyid. Novel ini menggambarkan kisah menyentuh tentang perjuangan seorang ibu tunggal dalam membesarkan ketiga anaknya yang kemudian tumbuh menjauh darinya karena luka batin dan kesalahpahaman. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan metode studi pustaka, penelitian ini menganalisis elemen pembentuk cerita seperti tema, alur, tokoh, latar, sudut pandang, gaya bahasa, dan amanat, serta pesan moral yang terkandung di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa unsur intrinsik novel ini dibangun dengan kuat untuk menggarisbawahi tema besar tentang kerinduan, pengorbanan, dan penyesalan. Nilai moral seperti cinta tanpa syarat, pentingnya komunikasi dalam keluarga, penghargaan terhadap orang tua, serta kesadaran dan pengampunan menjadi pesan utama yang disampaikan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memperkuat kajian sastra kontemporer Indonesia serta menegaskan peran sastra sebagai media pendidikan karakter.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis kata atau kelas kata yang terdapat dalam bahasa Seluma. Penelitian ini merupakan upaya untuk memahami klasifikasi kata dalam bahasa Seluma. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menyajikan contoh-contoh kosakata atau kelas kata yang digunakan dalam bahasa tersebut. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data mencakup pengiriman pesan teks dan suara melalui WhatsApp, kegiatan menyimak, serta pencatatan data. Validitas data diperoleh melalui teknik triangulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah model analisis interaktif yang terdiri dari empat tahapan: pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan bahwa dalam bahasa Seluma terdapat 10 kelas kata, yakni: nomina (kata benda) sebanyak 50 kata, verba (kata kerja) 30 kata, pronomina (kata ganti) 20 kata, numeralia (kata bilangan) 20 kata, adverbia (kata keterangan) 7 kata, adjektiva (kata sifat) 20 kata, konjungsi (kata sambung) 5 kata, preposisi (kata depan) 5 kata, artikula (kata sandang) 1 kata, dan interjeksi (kata seru) 1 kata. Melalui analisis ini juga dapat dipahami bagaimana bentuk kata dalam bahasa Seluma ketika digunakan dalam kalimat, yang pada akhirnya dapat memperjelas makna dari kalimat tersebut. Secara keseluruhan, terdapat 169 kata dari 10 kelas kata yang telah diklasifikasikan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melestarikan Bahasa Daerah Serawai pada generasi muda agar tidak punah, tetap dikenal, dan dapat diwariskan. Fokus penelitian ini adalah: 1) Mendeskripsikan kalimat deklaratif suku Serawai Kabupaten Seluma, 2) Menguraikan makna kalimat deklaratif tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data berupa penggunaan kalimat deklaratif dalam Bahasa Serawai Kabupaten Seluma, yang dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak dan catat. Data divalidasi dengan triangulasi sumber, dan dianalisis menggunakan model kualitatif yang meliputi reduksi data, display data, serta kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Seluma menggunakan kalimat deklaratif untuk menyampaikan informasi, dengan dua jenis kalimat deklaratif: (a) aktif (transitif, intransitif, semitransitif) dan (b) pasif (biasa, zero). Kalimat deklaratif digunakan untuk menyatakan atau memberikan informasi.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the pedagogical impact of PowerPoint as an instructional medium on students’ achievement in Indonesian language learning, particularly in mastering personal and official letter writing. Adopting a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest control group, the research involved a population of 243 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 20 Bengkulu, from which 62 were purposively selected and assigned to experimental and control classes. Data were obtained through standardized achievement tests and analyzed using non-parametric statistics, including the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney U Test, following normality and homogeneity assessments. The results demonstrate that students in the experimental class, who were instructed using PowerPoint, exhibited significantly higher learning gains than their counterparts in the control class (p < 0.05). These findings underscore the effectiveness of PowerPoint in fostering comprehension and performance in Indonesian language instruction, highlighting its potential as a practical and engaging medium to support innovative classroom practices.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Explicit Instruction learning model on the poetry writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 19 Bengkulu, Indonesia. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, the study involved 30 students divided into experimental and control classes. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure learning outcomes, supported by instrument validation and reliability testing (r₁₁ = 0.902). The results indicate that students in the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores (M = 82.92) compared to the control group (M = 71.88). Independent sample t-test results confirmed a significant difference (t = 5.043, p < 0.05), suggesting that the Explicit Instruction model fosters more substantial improvement in poetry writing than conventional teaching methods. These findings underscore the pedagogical value of structured, teacher-guided approaches in enhancing literary expression among junior high school learners. Implications for curriculum design and teacher practice are discussed, alongside recommendations for future research.

Abstract

Folklore plays an essential role in preserving cultural identity and transmitting values across generations, yet Bengkulu folklore remains underexplored in academic studies. This research aimed to analyze the forms and intrinsic elements of selected folktales from Bengkulu in order to identify their literary structures and cultural significance. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through documentation of ten Bengkulu folktales and analyzed using structural and literary methods to examine themes, plots, characters, settings, points of view, language styles, and moral messages. The findings revealed that Bengkulu folklore predominantly takes the form of legends and fairy tales that integrate historical memory, mythical imagination, and moral instruction. Intrinsic elements such as conflict-driven plots, royal and supernatural characters, and culturally rooted settings were identified as central features that convey values of justice, wisdom, resilience, and harmony with nature. These results indicate that folklore serves not only as a repository of cultural heritage but also as a pedagogical resource that can be integrated into character education and cultural literacy programs. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic literary analysis of Bengkulu folklore, which has been rarely addressed in prior research, thereby contributing new insights into Indonesian oral traditions and their relevance in modern education. The findings imply that folklore should be strategically incorporated into school curricula and community-based cultural preservation initiatives to strengthen national identity and foster moral development among younger generations.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the function and educational values ​​contained in the Tunggu Betunggu traditional ceremony in the Serawai Tribe community in Simpang Village, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a folklore approach to explore the cultural and social meaning of the tradition. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the Tunggu Betunggu ceremony not only functions as a religious ritual but also as an educational medium that conveys divine, social, and moral values ​​to the younger generation. The value of divine education is reflected in the practice of praying and giving thanks, which strengthens the spiritual relationship with God. Social values ​​include cooperation, sharing sustenance, and harmony, which strengthens solidarity and harmony in society. Meanwhile, moral values ​​are taught through respect for ancestors, respect for others, and responsibility. This ceremony plays an important role in preserving cultural identity, strengthening social solidarity, and shaping the moral character of the next generation of the Serawai Tribe.

Abstract

This research is motivated by Indonesian language learning which requires each student to master four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. In children with dyslexia or reading difficulties, the implementation efforts made by the 7th grade teacher of the Bengkulu City Special School 05 so that the child continues to master language skills despite having difficulty reading. This study aims to describe the methods used by teachers in Indonesian language learning so that dyslexic children can master reading skills. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and finally verification. The results of the study concluded that the implementation of learning in dyslexic children was preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The Indonesian language learning method used by the 7th grade teacher of SLB N 05 Bengkulu City in dyslexic children is the lecture method, the audiolingual method, the skimming method, and the picture and picture cooperative method.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini ialah bagaimana bentuk kesalahan penggunaan ejaan pada Surat Kabar Radar Bengkulu dan apa faktor- faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya kesalahan penggunaan ejaan pada Surat Kabar Radar Bengkulu. Tujuan penelitian untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan penggunaan ejaan pada Surat Kabar Radar Bengkulu dam mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya kesalahan penggunaan ejaan pada Surat Kabar Radar Bengkulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Sumber data berupa surat kabar Radar Bengkulu edisi April 2022, data dalam penelitian berupa kutipan dan dokumentasi yang ada pada surat kabar, informan atau subjek penelitiannya ialah Jurnalis Radar Bengkulu. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa observasi, wawancara, da dokumentasi. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan teknik trianggulasi. Teknik analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan Penarikan Kesimpulan dan Verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa didapatkan hasil penelitian terhadap Surat Kabar edisi Radar Bengkulu dengan 19 data yang telah dikumpulkan bahwa terdapat 18 kesalahan huruf, yaitu 5 kesalahan penulisan huruf miring dan 13 kesalahan penggunaan huruf kapital. Ada juga terdapat kesalahan kata 34 kesalahan kata, yaitu 9 kesalahan kata dasar, 4 kesalahan kata sapaan, 13 kesalahan kata depan, 2 kesalahan kata partikel, 1 kesalahan kata berulang, 1 kesalahan kata singkatan atau akronim, 3 kesalahan angka dan lambang bilangan, dan terdapat 10 kesalahan tanda baca, yaitu 4 kesalahan tanda koma, 2 kesalahan tanda titik, dan 4 kesalahan tanda hubung. Adapun faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya kesalahan penggunaan ejaan pada Surat Kabar Radar Bengkulu, yaitu kurangnya ketelitian sang penulis dan adanya keterbatasan waktu.
