Abstract

Optimizing the health and nutritional status of mothers during pregnancy can reduce the risk of stunting, with prevalence among children under five, in which the undernutrition condition was still high. It was about 24.4%. The research objective is to determine the association between maternal characteristics with nutritional status in the first trimester. This cross-sectional study involved 52 pregnant women in the first trimester. This study was conducted in the working area of health centers in Padang City 2022 which had a high prevalence of undernutrition problems. Data analysis was carried out using univariate tests and bivariate tests using chi-square with 95% CI and a significance level of p-value 0.05. The analysis results showed a significant relationship between BMI before pregnancy with nutritional status in the first trimester among pregnant women (p-value = 0.000). There is no relationship between education, occupation, age, and parity of the mother with nutritional status in the first trimester. Suggestions for pregnant women are to know their nutritional status, consume nutritious foods that are needed for fetal growth, and reduce the risk of low birth weight and stunting.

Abstract

Background: Gestational Weight Gain (GWG) is correlated to the growth and development of foetus and pregnancy outcomes. Probiotics have a positive effect on gestational weight gain. Dadih is a traditional West Sumatra food containing 108 CFU/ml of probiotics. Objectives: This research aimed to investigate the effect of dadih functional bread on gestational weight gain. Methods: This research is a Randomised Controlled Trials (RCT) design with double blinds with a gestational age of 12-20 weeks belonging to 88 pregnant women. The tests for weight balancing scales were used. The data were examined using Independent T-test for difference test and General Liniar Model (GLM) repeated measures, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Results: The average GWG was significantly 2 kg greater for the intervention group related to the control group (7.3±2.6 kg vs 5.4±3.8 kg). The GWG in the intervention group exceeded the recommended GWG per month. The results indicated that weight gain was difference across the four-time measurements in both groups. There was a significant different in the average GWG among the intervention control and the control group (p-value<0.001). Conclusions: Dadih functional bread supplementation for three months significantly effect the gestational weight gain. Thus, the consumption of the dadih products can be considered when planning the nutrition to advance the nutritional status of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background : Uterus bicornis subseptum is a deformity of the uterus such as the shape of the heart, the fundus appears to be curved inward, and has a barrier or wall inside to the uterine cavity. This abnormality occurs due to failure of the fusion of the left and right mullerian ducts. If pregnant, women who have this form of the uterus will usually experience a location abnormality, in which the fetus is often transverse or breech. However, women who have this disorder sometimes find it difficult to get pregnant so they experience infertility. In addition, there is usually a disturbance in the formation of the kidneys, but in this patient there was no abnormality in the urinary tract. In cases where the patient does not have children and a bicornu uterine abnormality is found, uterine repair is performed and it is hoped that with the uterine anatomy returning to normal, the patient can become pregnant. Objective : Discuss the management of cases of congenital abnormalities of the internal genital organs in patients with a bicornu uterus.Method : Case Report.Case : Reported a patient aged 25 years with primary infertility 4 years and a bicornu uterus. In patients, chromotubation was performed first, after chromotubation, the patient was performed metrosplasty to remove the bulkhead in the uterus and to repair the uterus. During the post-op follow-up at the hospital the patient did not show any signs of infection or acute abdomen, then the patient was discharged on day 5. The patient was advised to go to the OBGYN polyclinic regularly for further follow-up to the success of his uterine repair. Assessment can be done in several ways including transvaginal ultrasound to assess whether there is adhesions to the endometrium from the results of uterine repair, HSG, SIS or hysteroscopy can also be done in assessing the success of metroplasty in this patient. Conclusion : After metrosplasty in a patient with a bicornu uterus, further follow-up is required to determine the success of this procedure by performing a follow-up ultrasound. Keywords: Bicornu uterus, metroplasty

Abstract

Introduction : Wounds are defects of normal anatomical structures and functions. Injuries can occur because of physical, chemical, or biological trauma. Wound healing is a complex process involving many cells, cytokines, growth factors, proteases, and extracellular matrix (ECM) that work together to restore the integrity of the injured tissue. Virgin Coconut Oil is an oil saturated with medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), one of which is lauric acid. Based on our research, VCO has wound healing properties. Research conducted in vivo on rabbits and rats experienced an increase in collagen, fibroblast proliferation, and neovascularization which influenced accelerating wound healing. Objective : This study aims to determine the difference in the mean REEDA scale in abdominal incision wounds after obstetric / gynecology laparotomy with topical VCO and those without topical VCO.Material and methods : This study is an experimental research design with a randomized clinical trial that was conducted on 36 people divided into 2 groups (treatment and control). Post-obstetric / gynecology laparotomy patients were subjected to topical VCO application on the incision wound and the REEDA scale was calculated at 24, 48, and 72 hours post-surgery. Statistical analysis is using the Mann-Whitney test. Results : Age mean of the respondents in the treatment group was 32.28 ± 10.42 years old, while the untreated group was 30.5 ± 6.54 years old. The mean REEDA scale for abdominal incision wounds applied topical VCO at 24 hours was 3.17 ± 1.04, at 48 hours was 2.11 ± 1.08, and at 72 hours was 1.39 ± 0.85. The mean REEDA scale for abdominal incision wounds that were not treated with topical VCO at 24 hours was 3.83 ± 0.99, at 48 hours was 3.11 ± 1.37 and at 72 hours was 2.72 ± 1.41. The findings of the experimental analyses showed that there was no association with the use of topical VCO in surgical wounds on a 24-hour REEDA scale (p>0.05), there was a relationship between the use of topical VCO in surgical wounds on a 48-hour and 72-hour REEDA scale (p<0.05). In the care group, the mean REEDA scale decreased by 33.4 % from 24 to 48 hours and 34.1 % from 48 to 72 hours. Conclusion : There is a relationship with the use of topical VCO in post-abdominal incision wounds post obstetrics/gynaecology laparotomy with REEDA scale 48 hours and 72 hours post-surgery. The mean REEDA scale decreased by over 24 to 48 hours and 48 to 72 hours in the treatment group (who administered topical VCO in postoperative incision wounds). Keywords: VCO, REEDA scale, Wound healing

Abstract

Background: VIA screening is very suitable for developing countries such as Indonesia, because the technique is easy, simple, low cost/cheap, high sensitivity, fast and accurate for early detection of cervical cancer. The coverage of early detection in Indonesia is <5% so that many cases of cervical cancer are found to be at an advanced stage and often cause death in women. Methods: This study uses a mix-method study approach with a sequential exploratory approach. The research was carried out sequentially with qualitative methods first (interviews and FGDs), then continued with quantitative methods. In this study, the sampling technique used was multi-stage random sampling in 7 selected sub-districts.Results: The variable perception of vulnerability with a good perception of vulnerability have a 2.64 times greater risk of carrying out an VIA examination. In multivariate modeling, knowledge is the most dominant variable because it has the largest POR of 6.3, which means the N-Gain value is in the medium category with a fairly effective interpretation of the effectiveness of the module, namely an increase in knowledge of 63.86% after being given education using the OMPHE-VIA module. Conclusion: Based on the implementation of the OMPHE-VIA module, it was found that there was an increase in the average value of knowledge, before and after the education was given. It was also found that there was a significant difference in knowledge, and husband's support, construct between before and after the education was given using the OMPHE-VIA module.
