Abstract

Indigofera    sp. is a leguminous plant which has varoius species, wide spread in tropical regions and adapted to a wide range of environmental condition. Indigofera sp. has many benefits in agricultural and industrial sector. It is widely used in agriculture as forage because its  high protein content, easily cultivated, high adaptability, and high biomass production (I. zollingeriana, I. hirsuta, I. pilosa, I. schimperi Syn,    I.    oblongifolia,    I.    spicata,    I. subulata Syn, and I. trita). Over the last 5 years Indigofera sp has been explored as forage feed for the goats. As cover crops, Indigofera is used to prevent erosion and nutrient leaching in the soil surface (I. hirsuta and I. Trita) and it is also used as green manure, mulch, erosion control and ornamental plants (I. australis). In industrial sector, Indigofera sp. widely used as dyes and traditional medicine. Indigofera is used as a natural dye (I. tinctoria) because it contains an excellent pigment called ‘indigo’ to dye silk material. Indigofera sp is also used as traditional medicine because it contains phytochemical substance which roles as antipyretic, laxative, diuretic, and useful against snakes attack, bees and insect bites. Using Indigofera    spp. as traditional medicine should be considered to avoid causing poisoning.

Abstract

This study was objected to evaluate the nutritional values of ration containing Indigofera zollingeriana to post-weaning goat kids performans. Randomized completely design were used to four types of rations. The 16 heads of ettawah gradebreed post-weaning goad kids (14-21 body weight) were maintained during 8 weeks. I. zollingeriana forage were formulated into R1, R2, R3, and R4 concentrate feeds with proportion 0, 20, 40, and 60% I. zollingeriana, respectively. The rations were I0 (75% R1 + 25% napier grass), I20 (75% R2 + 25% napier grass), I40 (75% R3 + 25% napier grass), I60 (75% R4 + 25% napier grass), respectively. The variables observed were nutrient intake, digestibility, nitrogen utilization, blood nutrients, average daily gain (ADG) and feed efficiency. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance. The result showed that the crude protein (CP) intake of I40 was higher (P<0.05) than I0. The organic matter digestibility value of I20 was higher (P<0.05) than I60. The CP digestibility values of I20 and I40 were higher (P<0.05) than I0 and I60. The total digestible nutrient value of I0 and I20 were higher (P<0.05) than I40 and I60. The nitrogen (N) intake of I0 was less than (P<0.05) I40. The N retention of I40 was higher (P<0.05) than I0 and I60, while I20 was higher (P<0.05) than I0. The net nitrogen utilization of I20 and I40 were higher than I0 and I60. There were no significantly differences on total protein, albumin and immunoglobulin G values of blood serum. The cholesterol serum values of I40 and I60 were less (P<0.05) than I0 and I20. The ADG of I20 was higher (P<0.05) than I0 and I60. The feed efficiency of I20 was highest (P<0.05) than other rations. Key words: dairy goat, Indigofera zollingeriana, nitrogen utilization

Abstract

Abstract

Kata kunci: fermentasi rumen, in vitro, leguminosa

Abstract

The food flavor manufacture waste (called Sipramin) have a great potential to used as liquid organic fertilizer due to the nutrition contents that needed by plants. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the effect of sipramin as liquid organic fertilizer on soil condition, re-growth, and herbage productivity of Indigofera sp. For ruminants. This experiment used factorial completely randomized design; the first factor was fertilizer dosages (0, 10, 20 and 40%) and the second factor was fertilization times (30 and 15 days before harvested [dbh]). The observed variables were soil chemical and biological characteristic, re-growth and forage production, and nutritive value of Indigofera sp. for ruminants. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The result showed that the soil nitrogen, number of phosphate resolvability bacteria and Rhizobium sp. were significantly different (P<0.05) on 40% fertilizer dosage than the other treatments. The phosphate resolvability bacteria and available phosphate (P available) of 15 dbh were higher than 30 dbh. Sipramin fertilizer of 40% dosage improved C-organic content and carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio value of soil, and significantly (P<0.01) increased forage production (leaf and steam). The leaf and steam ratio of 15 dbh were higher than 30 dbh. There were significantly different (P<0.01) on number of root nodule on 40% dosage than others. The addition of 40% sipramin at 15 dbh fertilization time showed the best result to chemical and biological soil characteristic, re-growth, and productivity of Indigofera sp.
