Abstract

This research examines the forms of violence and factors underlying the acts of violence in the novel Lailun wa Qudhbaan by Najib Kailany. The purpose of this study is to find out the forms of violence and factors underlying the acts of violence in the novel Lailun wa Qudhbaan by Najib Kailany. The method used in this reaserch is a descriptive analysis method with a study of genetic structuralism. This study uses structural genetic theory to reveal all forms of violence and the factors behind violence based on life experiences experienced by the author.Keywords: Violence, Novel Lailun wa Qudhbaan, Genetic Structuralism, by reading it off.

Abstract

Sebuah novel karya Najīb Mahfūz berjudul Aulād Hāratinā Episode Jabal menceritakan tentang Jabal, yaitu seorang tokoh yang menjadi pemimpin untuk melawan bentuk ketidakadilan penguasa dan orang-orang yang kaya di lingkungannya. Jabal terlahir dari keturunan Al-Jabalāwi, yaitu keluarga Hamdān. Kakeknya ialah pendiri kampung yang bernama Adham. Ia diangkat menjadi putera oleh keluarga yang tidak memiliki putra, yaitu keluarga Al-Afandī yang merupakan keluarga yang memiliki kekayaan sekaligus kekuasaan. Terdapat prinsip kesopanan maksim kedermawanan pada  tuturan tokoh Jabal dalam novel Aulād Hāratinā episode Jabal. Dengan demikian, dalam penelitian ini akan dibahas satu permasalahan, yaitu bagaimana menggunakan prinsip kesopanan maksim kedermawanan pada tokoh utama dalam novel Aulād Hāratinā episode Jabal Karya Najīb Mahfūz; Berlandaskan batasan masalah tersebut maka dapat diidentifikasi tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan prinsip kesopanan guna mengetahui penggunaan prinsip dan adanya maksim kedermawanan yang terdapat pada tokoh utama dalam novel Aulād Hāratinā episode Jabal Karya Najīb Mahfūz. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data-data menggunakan metode simak yang selanjutnya akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode padan ekstralingual dan menganalisis tuturan tokoh utama Jabal dengan menggunakan pendekatan pragmatik teori prinsip kesopanan. Penggunaan metode tersebut akan menghasilkan sebuah penelitian penggunaan prinsip kesopanan tuturan yang terdapat pada tokoh utama Jabal dalam novel Aulād Hāratinā episode Jabal Karya Najīb Mahfūz, yaitu adanya maksim kedermawanan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan interpretasi dan ideologi makna dasar yang terdapat dalam simbol mistisisme naskah mihir nūr bwwat. Metodelogi yang digunakan oleh peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif-hermeneutik dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis semiotika Rolland Barthes, dengan mengusung teori signifikasi tanda melalui dua proses tahapan, yaitu sistem signifikasi tingkat pertama atau tataran denotasi dan sistem signifikasi tingkat dua yaitu tataran konotasi, untuk mengurai sebuah mitos dalam ruang mistisime yang termuat dalam simbol-simbol naskah mihir nūr buwwat dengan cara menginterpretasikan makna mitos dan ideologi yang terkandung di dalamnya.

Abstract

Peneltian ini berjudul “Analisis Kontrastif Kajian Frase Nominal dalam Bahasia Indonesia dan Tarkib Ismi dalam Bahasa Arab”. Dengan tujuan untuk menemukan perbedaan dan persamaan pada FN dalam bahasa Indonesia (BI) dan tarkib Ismi dalam Bahasa Arab (BA). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kontrastif dengan pendekatan linguistik. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari dua jenis sumber data yaitu (1) sumber data primer diantaranya kitab Tijan Addarari, durusul fiqih, cerpen daulatul ‘ashafir beserta ketiga tarjamahnya, (2) sumber data sekunder yaitu jumlatul ‘arabiyah, Jami’ud Durus, TBBI dan Linguistik Umum. Dan untuk tehnik pengumpulan data penelitian ini adalah tehnik studi kepustakaan dengan jenis data, data purposive. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Persamaan antara FN BI dan tarkib ismi terdapat pada Unsur pusatnya, dan perbedaanya terdapat pada setiap jenisnya. (a) Tidak semua tarkib idhafi termasuk kedalam kategori frasa yaitu jika mudhafnya mengandung makna predikatif, sedangkan frasa nomina pewatas nomina semuanya masuk kedalam kategori frasa.(b) frasa nomina penentu numeralia tidak memiliki aturan gender sedangkan tarkib ‘adadi memiliki aturan gender dan dibagi kedalam dua kategori yaitu tarkib idhafi dan tarkib tamyiz.(c) Frasa nomina dengan atribut ketakrifan, semua tanda ketakrifan masuk kedalam kategori frase, sedangkan tanda ketakrifan dalam BA yang masuk kedalam kategori frasa hanya dua yaitu, idhafat dan isyarah. (d) Tarkib ismi na’ti mempunyai syarat tertentu antara unsur pusat dan atribut, yaitu gender, jumlah dan umum-khusus, sedangkan dalam frasa nomina pewatas adjektiv tidak ada syarat pembentuk apapun. Terakhir (e) Tarkib ismi mempunyai tarkib tamyiz sedangkan FN BI tidak, namun setelah diteliti padanan dari tarkib ismi tamyizi dalam BI ada pada kategori FN dengan pewatas numeralia dan FN dengan pewatas nomina. Dan juga, Pada tataran jenis FN BI memiliki pewatas penggolong sedangkan tarkib ismi tidak. Untuk perbedaan secara keseluruhan FN dengan tarkib ismi adalah syarat pembentuknya, baik dalam jumlah, gender ataupun jenis.

Abstract

"Moana" is a film by John Grierson that tells the story of a teenage girl,the daughter of a leader in the village of Motunui who wants to save her village from natural destruction. In the conversation in the film Moana, there are several violations of the principle of cooperation which give rise to conversational implicatures. This research aims to describe the types of violations of the principle of cooperation committed by characters in the animated film "Moana" by John Grierson and to describe the conversational implicatures that occur as a result of violations of the principle of cooperation in the animated film "Moana" by John Grierson. The research method used is descriptive-analytical, with data collection techniques using the listening method followed by note-taking techniques, while the analytical method used in this research uses the extra lingual matching method for data sources taken from the speech of characters in the film "Moana". The results of the research revealed that in the animated film "Moana" there was a violation of the principle of cooperation, namely a violation of the maxim of quantity, quality,  relevance, and method or implementation. Violations of the principle of cooperation give rise to conversational implicatures which include: inviting, refusing, winning, commanding, praising, helping, belittling, asking for help, protecting, defending,seeking attention, influencing, stopping, reprimanding, proving, correcting mistakes, and encouraging.Film “Moana” merupakan film karya John Griersin yang menceritakan tentang seorang gadis remaja, anak dari seorang pemimpin di desa Motunui yang ingin menyelamatkan desanya dari kerusakan alam. Dalam percakapan film Moana terdapat sejumlah pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama. Adanya pelanggaran tersebut memunculkan adanya implikatur percakapan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah: 1) Untuk mendeskripsikan jenis pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama yang dilakukan tokoh dalam film animasi “Moana” karya John Grierson. 2) Untuk mendeskripsikan implikatur percakapan yang terjadi akibat adanya pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama dalam film animasi “Moana” karya John Grierson. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif analitik. Metode ini dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis data. Metode pengambilan data yaitu dengan menggunakan metode simak yang diikuti dengan teknik catat. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode padan ekstralingual. Sumber data yang digunakan diambil dari tuturan tokoh dalam film “Moana”. Pendekatannya menggunakan kajian pragmatik. Hasil penelitian yang terungkap adalah bahwa dalam film animasi “Moana” terdapat pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama yaitu pelanggaran terhadap maksim kuantitas, maksim kualitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim cara atau pelaksanaan. Pelanggaran prinsip kerjasama tersebut memunculkan implikatur percakapan yang meliputi: ajakan, menolak, menangkan, memerintah, memuji, membantu, meremehkan, meminta bantuan, melindungi, membela, mencari perhatian, mempengaruhi, menghentikan, menegur, membuktikan, membetulkan kesalahan, dan menyemangati.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze violations of the Cooperative Principle in Kisah Nabi Yusuf AS Episode 18, which was broadcast on the Salam Media YouTube channel. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach, focusing on the identification and classification of Cooperative Principle violations based on Grice’s theory, namely the maxims of quantity, quality, relevance, and manner. The research data consist of utterances produced by the characters in the film, collected through observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted by applying intralingual and extralingual matching techniques to interpret the utterances in relation to their linguistic and situational contexts. The findings reveal that violations of all four maxims of the Cooperative Principle occur in the dialogues between characters, serving various communicative purposes such as avoiding direct responses, concealing particular intentions, conveying implicit meanings, and enhancing the dramatic effect of the narrative. These findings indicate that violations of the Cooperative Principle function as pragmatic strategies that support interactional dynamics and conflict development within film discourse.

Abstract

In pragmatic studies, language is not only understood as a series of words, but also as an action that has a specific purpose, known as a speech act. One type of speech act that is important to study is the illocutionary act because it is directly related to the intention and function of the speaker's utterance. This study aims to describe the types and functions of illocutionary acts contained in Musalsal al-Nabī Yūsuf al-Ṣiddīq al-Ḥalqah al-Khāmisah ‘Asyar or the TV series of the story of the prophet Yusuf a.s episode 15 based on John Searle's classification. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The source of research data is the speech of the characters contained in the dialogue. The data collection technique is carried out using the listening and note-taking method, while the data analysis technique uses Searle's illocutionary speech act theory. The results of the study showed that there were 54 types of illocutionary speech acts in the episode, consisting of 17 assertive speech acts, 14 directive, 4 commissive, 7 expressive, and 2 declarative. Functionally, they include assertive speech acts such as conveying information, explaining, reporting, and claiming; directive speech acts such as ordering, requesting, recommending, and inviting; commissive speech acts involving the speaker's ability, such as offering, promising, and threatening; expressive speech acts that include expressing feelings, such as saying thank you, congratulating, praising, and apologizing; and declarative speech acts related to the act of deciding or making decisions. This study is confirms that understanding the function of speech in audiovisual media can help explain how Islamic messages are conveyed in a subtle, communicative, and meaningful way to listeners or viewers.

Abstract

This study examines the problem of patriarchal domination and the intertwined oppression of women and nature in Nawal El-Saadawi’s novel Al-Ughniyyat Al-Daairiyah. It aims to identify the forms of patriarchal control depicted in the narrative, uncover the meanings of bodily and spatial colonization experienced by the female characters, and analyze the relationship between women and nature from an ecofeminist perspective. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using close reading and note-taking techniques. The primary data source is the text of the novel itself, which is analyzed through ecofeminist theories proposed by Karen J. Warren and Vandana Shiva. The findings reveal that the female body is represented as a political and ideological space subject to regulation and domination, paralleling the patriarchal exploitation of nature. Acts of bodily colonization, institutional violence, and symbolic links between the body and the environment illustrate a persistent logic of domination embedded in social structures. The novel ultimately asserts that the struggle for women’s emancipation is inseparable from the restoration of ecological balance. This research contributes to contemporary Arabic literary criticism by offering an integrated ecofeminist reading and enriching interdisciplinary discussions on gender, power, and environmental ethics in modern Arabic literature.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the phenomenon of the appearance of the One Piece flag alongside the Indonesian Red and White flag in an editorial poster published by Media Indonesia as a representation of a shift in how Indonesia’s younger generation understands national identity and democratic imagination. Employing Ferdinand de Saussure’s structural semiotics to dissect the system of signs, and Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework to uncover layers of myth and ideology, the study analyzes how global popular culture negotiates with local national symbols within the visual space of mass media. The method used is qualitative semiotic analysis with a descriptive–interpretive approach, treating the poster as a visual text. The findings indicate that the combination of the two flags produces a new sign system that reflects the hybridity of youth identity, in which democratic values are no longer imagined solely through conventional narratives of nationalism, but through the appropriation of popular culture symbols perceived to resonate with contemporary political aspirations. At the denotative level, the two flags function as signifiers carrying different signifieds national sovereignty versus individual freedom. However, at the connotative and mythological levels, this juxtaposition deconstructs the myth of a pure national identity and opens up space for a more inclusive and transnational democratic imagination. This study contributes to an understanding of how the political subjectivity of the digital generation is formed through negotiations between the local and the global, and how mass media plays a role in producing discourse on national identity in the transnational era. Abstract

This study investigates linguistic errors found in the abstracts of undergraduate theses written by students of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research analyzed 50 thesis abstracts and identified 60 language errors categorized into three main types: phonological and morphological errors, morphological and syntactic errors, and syntactic and semantic errors. The findings show that the most common phonological error involves the incorrect use of hamzah, reflecting a lack of adherence to Arabic orthographic conventions. Morphological and syntactic errors consist of inaccurate verb conjugations, incorrect noun forms, and sentence structures that deviate from standard Arabic grammar. Semantic errors appear as vague or incoherent expressions, frequently resulting from syntactic mistakes and inappropriate word choices. The study identifies three principal causes of these errors: insufficient mastery of Arabic grammar and morphology, limited vocabulary prompting reliance on unchecked translation tools, and inadequate supervisory feedback from academic advisors. This research highlights the urgent need to strengthen Arabic academic writing instruction and encourages more active lecturer involvement to ensure that students' theses meet both academic and linguistic standards.
