In the twenty first century, teachers are required to have a digital literacy skill. They must be able to integrate technology in learning process. It was already conducted by a teacher in one of public junior high schools in Jakarta. She searched the materials from the internet but she had a problem to adjust the learning materials to her students’ needs and characteristics. Therefore, this study was undertaken to explore deeply how to develop e-learning in English class based on her students’ needs and characteristics and examined its effectiveness. This study employed research and development methodology with qualitative and quantitative approach. The participants were an English teacher and the first graders of junior high school. The result showed that this e-learning consisted of listening, reading, and grammar used PHP, Framework Bookstrap, MySQL, Adobe Flash and Adobe Illustrator to make some animated videos. The result also showed that the learning English using e-learning was more effective than without it. The difference of mean was 5.53 %. It was also different significantly between them (Sig.2-tailed 0.011 < 0.05). It is expected to contribute as supplemental learning media in English learning process. Key words: E-learning development, e-learning, and English learning

One of English skills that is important is speaking. English is a global language used by people around the world as communication tool. In fact, speaking skill has not been explored much. Moreover, it is found that many students use their mother tongue in their class. Therefore it is very essential to be taught in the classroom. One of the strategies applied is the use of e-storybook in the class. This study applies qualitative approach and case study as research methodology. The data source is third graders of Budi Luhur Pondok Aren elementary school. The results showed that the use of e-storybook based retelling story can help students to retell the story and have the story understanding. They are also glad to use the e-storybooks because they are equipped by various digital features. Key words: e-storybook, speaking skill, retelling story and story understandingSalah satu kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang sangat penting adalah kemampuan berbicara mengingat bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa global yang digunakan sebagai alat komunikasi oleh masyarakat dunia. Oleh karena itu kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris sangat penting diajarkan kepada siswa-siswi di sekolah karena kemampuan tersebut belum secara maksimal tereksplorasi. Masih ditemukan di dalam kelas, siswa-siswi menggunakan bahasa ibu mereka. Salah satu strategi yang digunakan untuk membantu kemampuan berbicara siswa adalah dengan menerapkan penggunaan e-storybook di dalam kelas khususnya dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan studi kasus sebagai metode penelitian. Sumber datanya adalah siswa-siswi kelas 3 SD Budi Luhur Pondok Aren. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan e-storybook yang berbasis aktivitas bercerita dapat membantu kemampuan berbicara siswa dan kemampuan memahami isi cerita. Selain itu siswa lebih senang menggunakan e-storybook karena dilengkapi dengan berbagai macam fitur digital.Kata kunci: e-storybook, kemampuan berbicara, aktivitas bercerita dan  pemahaman isi cerita

Covid-19 pandemic impacts the learning which it shifts face-to-face learning to distance learning. The shift insists the schools, particularly teachers to apply the effective and efficient learning medium. The principal of SMPIT Laa Tazhan Citra mentioned his teachers need the effective, efficient, and interesting learning medium during Covid-19 situation. Besides, they need to develop their knowledge and skill to assess students’ tasks or performance effectively. Their needs could be facilitated through training of online class development and authentic assessment using Moodle. The methods undertaken were presentation, discussion, and simulation. The result showed that the training provided teachers insight, knowledge, and skill to build online class and authentic assessment using Moodle. They are expected to apply their knowledge and skills in their own class referring to their students’ need and characteristics as well their learning objectives. Abstract220 Junior High School and 191 Junior high schools located in West Jakarta were the participants of the community service of Universitas Esa Unggul. They were chosen as they were recommended by Suku Dinas Pendidikan (Education Department) of West Jakarta region to be developed continuously. It was found some problems encountered by those schools in applying the school-based literacy program which is the national program determined by Ministry of Education and Culture. Those problems were students’ reading and writing literacy had not been developed and their motivation to read and write as well their creativity had not been improved. The solution offered was the training of online comic making as the follow-up reading activity in order to develop students’ reading and writing literacy. The methods employed were lecturing, website exploration, simulation, discussion, and presentation. Kedua sekolah tersebut dipilih sebagai subyek program pengabdian kepada masyarakat karena merupakan sekolah yang direkomendasikan oleh Suku Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah II Jakarta Barat untuk dibina secara berkesinambungan. Terdapat beberapa permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh kedua sekolah mitra dalam rangka melaksanakan gerakan literasi sekolah yang merupakan program nasional yang dicanangkan oleh kementerian pendidikan dan kebudayaan. Masalah-masalah tersebut adalah belum tumbuh dan berkembangnya literasi membaca dan menulis siswa, motivasi membaca dan menulis dan kreativitas siswa. Solusi yang ditawarkan oleh tim pengusul adalah pelatihan pembuatan cerita komik daring dari hasil membaca buku cerita rakyat Indonesia berbasis digital untuk mengembangkan literasi membaca dan menulis. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan integrasi teknologi dan strategi membaca adalah pemaparan/ ceramah, eksplorasi website, simulasi, diskusi,dan presentasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah pengembangan literasi membaca, menulis dan kreativitas siswa sehingga dapat mencapai tujuan gerakan literasi sekolah yang lebih maksimal. Kata kunci: komik daring, literasi membaca, literasi menulis, kreativitas

Esa Unggul University conducted the community service at Hati Kudus Elementary School which is a private school in West Jakarta. It was selected because it required the development of creativity and reading literacy. Reading literacy is one of literacy programs determined by government and is expected to be a school life habit. Reading literacy activities is supposed to use the authentic reading sources in order to provide the factual information. The community service offered the authentic reading sources collaborated by onlineinfographic design application, thus, the students could absorb the information easily and presented their work using the interesting media. The community service could answer the school problem in enhancing the students’ creativity and reading literacy. The methods used were lecturing, exploring the application, simulating, discussion, demonstrating, and presenting the students’ work. The result showed that the students devoted their reading into infographic design work. They were enthusiastic by choosing the interesting features and they felt easily to present their work. It is expected to be an alternative solution in developing student’s creativity and reading literacy to be more authentic, meaningful, and interesting.  Keywords: Infographic design, creativity, reading literacy.

AbstractSMPN 220 Jakarta and SMPN 274 Jakarta were chosen as the subjects of the community service because they were recommended by Suku Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah II, West Jakarta to be encouraged sustainably. They faced problems in conducting the literacy activities as the national program determined by ministry of education and culture. Those were the teachers’ professionality to provide the various interesting learning media and sources for literacy activities and engaging strategies to stimulate students’ motivation to read and learn. This program offered the training of technology integration and reading strategies to overcome those problems in order to reach the literacy goal effectively. The methods applied were lecturing, website exploration, simulation, discussion, demonstration and presentation. AbstractThe need analysis conducted through teacher interview showed that teachers seldom had training. They require it especially how to teach scientific paper to their students. They had difficulty to teach their students. Thus, their students did not have the scientific paper. When Providentia School had accreditation, the assessor asked about it but it did not have it at all. Thus, it is crucial to hold the community service program conducted at this school. It aims to enhance teachers’ writing skill especially writing paper and developteachers’ professionalism. The method employed were lecturing, discussion, demonstration, and presentation. The lecturing and discussion were undertaken to explain the paper components, strategy, and steps to make it. The demonstration was used to encourage the teachers how the process to make the paper is. Then they presented their steps in making the paper effectively. This service program is expected to enhance teachers’ professionalism especially in developing their knowledge and skill how to write the paper effectively and to teach it to their students.  Keywords: teachers’ professionalism, scientific paper, paper AbstrakBerdasarkan analisis kebutuhan yang dilakukan di SMP Providentia melalui wawancara guru bahwa guru-guru sangat jarang mendapatkan pelatihan. Guru-guru tersebut membutuhkan pelatihan berupa keterampilan menulis makalah. Hal tersebut dibutuhkan karena mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam mengajarkan penulisan makalah kepada siswa-siswi Providentia. Siswa-siswi SMP Providentia tidak memiliki karya tulis ilmiah berupa makalah. Ketika SMP Providentia melakukan akreditasi sekolah, tim asesor akreditasi menanyakan makalah yang dibuat oleh siswa-siswi SMP Providentia. Jawaban kepala sekolah kepada tim asesor adalah makalah siswa-siswi SMP tidak tersedia. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di SMP Providentia dengan melaksanakan pelatihan penulisan makalah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis makalah dan dapat mengembangkan kemampuan profesionalisme guru. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah ceramah, diskusi, demonstrasi dan presentasi. Ceramah dan diskusi dilakukan dalam memaparkan secara teori mengenai makalah, strategi dan tahapan pembuatan makalah. Demonstrasi dilakukan ketika menunjukkan proses pembuatan makalah. Presentasi dilaksanakan setelah guru selesai membuat makalah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat diharapkan dapat menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis makalah dan diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai bekal bagi guru dalam mengajarkan keterampilan menulis makalah kepada siswa dengan baik. Kata kunci: profesionalisme guru, karya ilmiah, makalah

AbstractEnglish is an international language used by global community as a means of communication. Therefore it is important to have English language ability because Indonesia has faced ASEAN Economic Community era nowadays. This situation enables high mobilization for ASEAN countries in economic aspects. Thus it insists Indonesian people to interact using English. English learning at school contributes to create and prepare the students to have a good English communication skill. To actualize those goals is required an effective learning method and strategy. The learning method and strategy are also supported by interactive and effective learning media in order to grow and increase learning motivation and language skill for the students. One of the learning media used is electronic storybook. The electronic storybook training at Yayasan Perguruan Birrul Waalidain as the community service contributes to the teachers and students’ development. The teachers have new knowledge on electronic storybooks. They can employ them referring to students’ characteristics and apply various learning strategies in using electronic storybooks. Further the students are also enthusiastic and learn how to speak using English in using the electronic storybooks. In conclusion, the electronic storybook training is beneficial for teachers and students in enhancing English speaking ability.Keywords: electronic storybooks, speaking ability, learning media                                            AbstrakBahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa Internasional yang digunakan oleh masyarakat dunia sebagai alat untuk berkomunikasi. Oleh karena itu menguasai bahasa Inggris sangat penting. Selain itu, saat ini Indonesia telah memasuki masa Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN (MEA). Mobilitas masyarakat ASEAN di Indonesia maupun masyarakat Indonesia di wilayah ASEAN akan meningkat. Oleh sebab itu masyarakat Indonesia harus memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris dalam berinteraksi. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang dilakukan di sekolah memiliki peranan untuk menghasilkan peserta didik yang dapat memiliki kemampuan berkomunikasi dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Untuk menciptakan proses pembelajaran bahasa yang efektif dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan strategi dan metode pembelajaran yang tepat. Strategi dan metode pembelajaran yang diimplementasikan dapat didukung dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif sehingga dapat menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan semangat belajar serta kemampuan berbahasa peserta didik. Salah satu media pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan oleh pengajar adalah electronic storybook. Pelatihan penggunaan electronic storybook di Yayasan Perguruan Birrul Waalidain merupakan bentuk pengabdian masyarakat yang dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengajar dan peserta didik. Para pengajar memperoleh pengetahuan baru mengenai electronic storybook. Mereka juga dapat memilih electronic storybook yang sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa dan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran yang bervariasi dengan menggunakan electronic storybook. Selain itu, para peserta didik sangat antusias dan banyak belajar dalam berbicara menggunakan bahasa Inggris dalam proses pembelajaran ketika menggunakan electronic storybook. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan penerapan electronic storybook memberikan manfaat bagi pengajar dan peserta didik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: electronic storybooks, kemampuan berbicara, media pembelajaran

Learning does not only involve the transfer of knowledge but also requires the active interaction and collaboration among students. One effective way to foster interaction and collaboration is by incorporating icebreaking activities in the classroom. An interview conducted revealed that teachers expressed a need for further development of icebreaking activities. As a response, a community service activity was initiated, involving the provision of training of teachers on the development of icebreaking activities in teaching and learning process. The training aimed to enhance teachers’ knowledge and professional skills to establish a fun learning atmosphere and motivate the students. The development of teachers’ knowledge and skill development can inspire them to design and implement effective icebreaking activities. This community service employed various methods, including lecturing, presentations, discussions, and simulations engaging 229 Junior high school, Jakarta. The finding suggested that the community service significantly contributed to improving the teachers’ knowledge and skills in developing icebreaking activities, fostering their students’ learning readiness, creating a conducive and enjoyable learning environment, and promoting social interaction among students and teachers. Furthermore, it has the potential to enhance students’ engagement in learning process, leading to improved academic performance.
