Abstract

Abstract

The rapid development of tourism affects the quality of tourist attractions in several tourist destinations, including villages that are transforming into tourist villages. With the increasing increase of tourism operations in rural areas, the quality of life in tourist villages needs to be assessed to not exceed its carrying capacity. Only when the issue becomes worse have attempts been made to address excessive tourism thus far. Slums arise in rural locations, particularly in tourist communities, as a result of one of the quality reductions. By comparing the slum criteria with input from resource people in tourist villages regarding factors reducing carrying capacity in tourist villages, this study examines factors that may be threshold aspects for developing a village so that it does not become a village that exceeds its carrying capacity. There were three phases to this study's first review. The initial stage is a review of the literature to identify the causes of the decline in tourist communities. Secondly, an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique survey of influential people in rural tourism was conducted to gather information for threshold-determining criteria. The last step involves comparing the rural slum parameters with the AHP results. Using the characteristics of rural slums, the comparison aims to generate an assessment of the threshold instrument for the development of tourism activities in rural regions. According to preliminary research, the slum criterion is an indicator that, when modified, could enhance the threshold instrument for building tourist villages.

Abstract

Bayan Village on Lombok Island is a tourist village that preserves the traditions of the Sasak-Bayan tribe. The potential of this village lies in the agricultural sector and local products. However, earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic have hindered the village's development. Therefore, rural area planning is needed for sustainable development. One aspect being developed is homestays, although their current use is limited to special interest tourism (research). This study aims to explore the constraints and potential of homestays in the development of Desa Bayan. The research findings show various homestay types with different designs, but they still preserve local traditions. This study also suggests the importance of considering local wisdom and cultural preservation in the development of this village. Thus, this research contributes to developing a tourist village in Desa Bayan, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

Perintis Reservoir has big potential with its amazing view, water coverage, and decent nature. However, the reservoir tends to be temporarily crowded by visitor when there is national event that held by government. Moreover, the majority of visitor is only local people. The objective of this study is to create a recommendation and guideline to enhance the future development of Perintis reservoir, so it can be regularly visited by local people, national tourist, and even international tourist. This study method employed various approaches, such as literature review, quantitative data collection, and observation. The identified problem in observation and data collection were solved by literature review. Research results show that there are some problems need to be solved such as inconvenient thermal conditions because of tropical climate and inadequate shading, unready urban facility, unorganized MSME, lack of walkability for pedestrians, and desolate tourism destinations. The environmental approach was chosen as the main solution because it’s the most suitable. The improvement of sidewalk, people domination rather than vehicle, and adding forest bathing sensation by planting wide-crown tree is needed. The Riparian buffer system and rain garden can help to balance water conservation while increasing the naturalness of the landscape. Cycling and other physical activities have a correlation with walkability and should be emphasized. Social physical activities and MSME’s integration with nutrition in wellness tourism themes can be a Perintis reservoir branding.

Abstract

Abstract

Internal quality assurance (IQA) in higher education institutions (HEIs) is believed to be the spearhead for accelerating the improvement of the quality of HEIs and the study programs within it. However, currently many HEIs are trapped in the formal implementation of IQA and does not reach its essence, so it does not have a real impact on the quality of the HEIs. Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta is one of the partners of the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology to devote itself by providing training and sharing good practices in implementing IQA to six HEIs with 31 study programs in 2024. This training aims to provide experience and insights for participants to become drivers of accelerating the implementation of IQA in their respective HEIs and study programs. The training was carried out in two stages in September and October 2024, each for two days, with materials covering IQA system development, IQA organization, IQA documents, and internal quality audits. This training went smoothly and effectively, as evidenced by the increase in participants' comprehension as measured by a pre-test and a post-test. After six months had passed, the indirect impact of this training was also seen in the accreditation of two participating HEIs that had unaccredited status during the training.

Abstract

Abstract — Sendang Sombomerti is a tourist attraction that was developed side by side with fisheries cultivation. The concept of food security is an exploration of a concept aimed at strengthening fish production by strengthening the potential for bathing tourism originating from the Sombomerti Spring. The integration of these two production and recreation activities aims to prepare the Sendang Sombomerti, Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman Tourism Destination Masterplan. Lumbung Padi Mataram was appointed as a regional planning concept that was intended to emphasize its main function of fish cultivation, but it was equipped with tourist facilities. The function and form of the design use a basic grid shape combined with a curved shape, which reflects the combination of a formal cultivation function with a curved shape, symbolizing the recreational function. Tourism with a water theme was developed to connect with fish farming.
