Abstract

Laju pertumbuhan tertinggi setiap minggu yaitu pada perlakuan teknik diatas pasir (top of sand) sebesar 26.20 kecambah, dilanjutkan teknik plastik antar kertas (plastic between paper) yaitu, 23.20, kemudian teknik antar kertas (between papers) dan diatas kertas (top of paper) dengan persentase laju pertumbuhan kecambah sebesar 13.20 dan 12.20.Kata Kunci : Kopi Robusta, Teknik Kecambah, Jumlah Pertumbuhan

Abstract

Ultisol is one of marginal land type quite extensively presence in Indonesia, including the province of Bengkulu. The use of varieties tolerance to acidity stress is the best manner to utilize of this type of land with relatively low cost and environmentally friendly. The objective of this research was to evaluate theyield potential of six maize hybrids developed to soil acidity tolerance. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm Medan Baru, Kandang Limun Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City, from August to November 2015. The experiment was arranged in a randomized completely block design with four replications. As the treatment were newly developed maize hybrids, namely CT5, CT8, CT9, CT13, CT14 and CT15. The variables measured were cob length, cob diameter, 100-seed weight and the estimated yield/ha. Qualitative variables supporting to corn yield were the cob position, seed color, seed type and seed row arrangement. The results indicated that the hybrid CT8 showed the highest estimated yield in Ultisol among hybrids evaluated, with the estimation of 6.5 tons per hectare. Qualitatively, theseeds of hybrid CT8 were a horse tooth type, pale yellow color, and stright line arrangement.

Abstract

The study aimed to observe the growth and yield of sweet corn in organic and inorganic cultivation systems. The experimental design in the study used a completely randomized block design with three replications. The treatments consisted of organic and inorganic cultivation systems. Observations included variables on growth components and yield components. Observation data were analyzed statistically using the t-test (Paired Two Sample for Means at P < 0,05). The results showed that sweet corn fertilized organically and inorganically had the same effect on growth components (plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf area, and leaf greenness) and yield components (cob height, cob length, and cob diameter with husks, cob length, cob diameter, and cob weight without husks, number of rows in the cob and number of seeds per row). Farmers can use the results of this study to choose fertilizers for cultivating sweet corn.

Abstract

The increased global emphasis on sustainable farming has accelerated interest in microorganism-based biopesticides as an alternative to chemical pesticides. This systematic literature review of 65 articles acquired from the Scopus database explains research trends, top journals, affiliations, and actual applications of microorganism-based biopesticides in increasing crop production. The results show a marked escalation in publications since 2018, with India, the United States, and Europe leading the research. Top journals such as Microorganisms for Sustainability and Crop Protection are essential for knowledge dissemination. Leading academic institutions, such as Banaras Hindu University, and governmental institutions, such as the USDA Agricultural Research Service, drive innovation in the field. This study chronicles the increasing global recognition of biopesticides as a contribution to sustainable agriculture and identifies the major areas requiring additional research, such as field efficacy, scalability, and regulation. These findings are valuable to policymakers, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders interested in introducing biopesticides into conventional farming systems.

Abstract

One of the main challenges in maximizing the potential of coffee plantations is the low productivity and substandard quality that does not meet export requirements. The low productivity of coffee can be attributed to several factors, one of which is pest infestation. Identification of coffee insects is essential for effective pest management efforts and for breeders it is essential for early information in creating coffee plants that are resistant to insects. This study aims to identify the types of pests and assess the level of damage to coffee plants caused by pest attacks in coffee plantations located in Sambirejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Lebong Regency. The research was conducted in December 2024 in the coffee plantations of Sambirejo Village. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed by collecting data through field observations and direct inspection of pests found on-site. The study was carried out at five different locations, with additional data gathered through interviews with local farmers. The findings revealed six pest species attacking coffee plants in the Sambirejo plantations: the mealybug (Pseudococcus lilacinus), green scale insect (Coccus viridis), black ants, stem borer (Zeuzera coffeae), coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei), and grasshoppers (Xyronotidae). The extent of coffee plant damage due to pest attacks was categorized as follows: 72% light damage, 20% moderate damage, and 8% severe damage.

Abstract

Coffee is a major agricultural commodity in Indonesia, but its production declined by 1.43% compared to 2021. To boost productivity, vegetative propagation through stem-cutting is a promising method. This study investigates the use of coconut water as a natural plant growth regulator (PGR) to enhance the growth of coffee cuttings. Conducted from June to September 2024 at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pat Petulai, the experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five soaking durations in coconut water: 0 (control), 3, 6, 9, and 12 hours. Results were analyzed using ANOVA and followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at a 5% significance level. The 9-hour soaking treatment (P3) showed the highest shoot length by the 4th week, while the control had the lowest leaf length. However, soaking duration did not significantly affect shoot diameter, leaf length, or overall shoot growth, indicating a limited influence of coconut water on coffee cutting development
