Abstract

Dramaturgy Goffmann closely related to the model of the interaction between the persona by assuming that a mode of social relations as a stage show. There are self-raised, there are purposely hidden for management to create a certain impression. Setan Jawa Film by Garin Nugroho, as an art film, the issue of movement as the media said the film that marks the cultural code of Java to interact. This study aims to identify the perception of motion applicable to the 'movement' in Setan Jawa Film using test questionnaire responses on the perception of respondents from diverse ethnic, which was later confirmed by the method of Focused Group Discussion with Goffmann’ Dramaturgy analysis as the basis of interpretation.

Abstract

Wayang garing merupakan kesenian khas dari daerah Serang, Banten, namun mayoritas masyarakat masih belum mengenal wayang garing dengan baik. Wayang garing memiliki peran yang penting dalam menyebarkan pesan, sastra, nilai moral, dan pengetahuan di masyarakat Banten. Peran seorang dalang dalam mempopulerkan wayang garing sangatlah berarti, namun sedikit yang mengetahui tentang proses karir dan karya dari satu-satunya dalang wayang garing saat ini, yaitu Kajali. Popularitas wayang garing saat ini mengalami penurunan yang mengkhawatirkan, karena seni ini hanya dilakukan oleh satu dalang saja dan adanya variasi hiburan yang beragam. Oleh karena itu, perancangan media informasi, khususnya melalui website, sangatlah penting sebagai sumber informasi dan penghargaan terhadap keberadaan wayang garing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang media informasi yang terstruktur berisi pengetahuan tentang wayang garing, dan diharapkan bahwa website ini dapat meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap warisan budaya ini serta mendorong partisipasi dalam pelestarian dan pengembangannya.

Abstract

Collage combines the semiotic tradition of Roland Barthes, the phenomenological tradition of Edmund Husserl, the critical tradition of Karl Marx, and the point of view of Jurgen Habermas in visual communication. The collage technique creates trans-aesthetic elements and double codes, a Dadaist method of encoding signs. Building on previous research, this study explores collage art as a communication act and its process in the digital era. Digital photography technology and computer software facilitate quicker and easier creation of collage art, emphasizing the fundamental concept of "paste." This pasting-sticking process mirrors the communication process of art and design in the digital era, illustrating cyclical communication capable of transcending space and time. The research has several conclusions. (1) By enhancing visual communication strategies and efficiency based on the spirit of the Dadaism renewal movement, unique collages can be created as a personal sign of message(s). (2) Collages as communication act in the digital era represent dialogue in trans-aesthetics code. (3) On the other hand, with the spirit of Dadaism that contains a free mind, open creation, and emphasis on social-cultural issues, collages as a communication process are also possible to frame messages and create fallacy.

Abstract

Digital advertisement with various visualization techniques affects human daily-life and lifestyle. Movement Concept in advertising is in line with kinetic on digitizing era. It visualized through videography. The lack of research that has been done regarding the characteristics of camera movement as visual stimuli exposure in advertisements has led to further research on consumer perceptions. The case study is Adidas Originals Nite Jogger version DAY&NIGHT GISEOK CHO that has been released on YouTube, April 2019. Using Documentation Analysis with Computer Web-Based Q's for collecting data, this mixed-method research using one-shot case study, aimed to identify Camera Movement Concept which applied into digitizing process. Several logical explanations of the audience's perceptions constructed by visual stimuli of Camera Movement Concept on social media in Digitizing era have been resulted; it relates to audience cognition and affection. The research concluded fast motion that is constructed through distortion as one of Camera Movement Concept to gain audience attraction; and if it applied with Camera 360° could have more possibilities to construct exaggerated visual stimuli exposure in advertising.

Abstract

"Si Unyil" is a television series for Indonesian children, created by Suyadi and in production by the National Film Production Center (PPFN).  "Si Unyil" belongs to the hand puppets category, consisting of the head, body, and hands. The attraction of the film "Si Unyil" lies in the facial expressions of the doll called Wanda, and is supported by the strength of the story contains elements of humor, joy, tension, to sadness. This study uses a semiotic approach that focuses on the analysis of Wanda "Si Unyil", as the central character in the film "Si Unyil"; and several supporting characters in the film, i.e. Pak Raden, Pak Ogah, Cuplis, and Meilani. Wanda can represent certain facial characters for certain roles in certain storylines. Therefore, Wanda can carry comprehensive meanings that indicate emotional conditions, physical conditions, and environmental conditions. Analysis of "Si Unyil" through the visual of the puppet, concluded that "Si Unyil" contains educational values, morals, and social ethics that are displayed in various daily activities, through dialogue and the behavior between "Si Unyil" and his friends. "Si Unyil" film also possible to be a representation of the Indonesian people, which is guided by the ideology of Pancasila.

Abstract

Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara yang mengalami kekurangan peran ayah, atau sering disebut sebagai "fatherless country." Ketidakhadiran figur ayah ini dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor seperti tuntutan pekerjaan, perceraian, kematian, atau ketidakaktifan dalam pengasuhan anak. Kondisi tersebut berdampak negatif pada anak, termasuk munculnya rasa tidak percaya diri, kecemasan, kegelisahan, dan kesepian—kesehatan mental maupun perkembangan pribadi. Kampanye media sosial diasumsikan berperan penting sebagai sarana edukasi untuk menyampaikan betapa pentingnya peran aktif ayah dalam kehidupan anak serta dampaknya jika ayah tidak hadir. Penelitian penjajagan ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan instrumen penelitian kuesioner terbuka, dengan metode analisis deskriptif—bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peran media sosial dalam mengkontruksi edukasi mengenai isu fatherless dan dampaknya di Indonesia. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kampanye media sosial berperan penting dalam distribusi informasi dan edukasi isu tersebut di atas; sebab memiliki keterjangkauan target audiens lebih luas secara efektif—merujuk pada UU ITE

Abstract

This article discusses the role of cultural modalities in the development of cultural heritage tourism with a case study in Cipanjalu Hamlet, Palintang Village, Ciporeat District, Bandung Regency. The main aim of the research is to understand how local cultural modalities contribute to the management and promotion of cultural heritage tourism, as well as their impact on economic sustainability and preservation of local culture. With a scientific perspective on Visual Communication Design in the competency areas of Visual Culture and Cultural Heritage Conservation; This research is qualitative research with an observational-reflective approach referring to the Kolb Model. The research results show that cultural modalities such as traditions based on literature and culinary in Cipanjalu Hamlet are built between local community legends and traditional ways of life - have the potential to attract tourists and can support efforts to strengthen local cultural identity in the Era of Society 5.0. However, facing the challenges of the onslaught of information and open communication technology, it was also concluded that challenges such as sustainable management, cultural preservation and community participation remain the main focus. in promoting sustainable tourism and preserving valuable cultural heritage. Abstract

Menghadirkan gambaran kehidupan nyata, dengan karakteristiknya yang dapat melampaui ruang dan waktu dan menggambarkan semangat zaman saat film tersebut diproduksi—film dapat berdampak mempengaruhi relasi sosial dan gaya hidup masyarakat Indonesia; termasuk di dalamnya, juga memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman budaya selaras zamannya. Berlatar belakang narasi kultural Jawa pada awal abad ke-20 yang mengangkat tentang Pesugihan Kandang Bubrah, Garin Nugroho membuat film “Setan Jawa” sebagai sebuah film bisu hitam putih berpendekatan sinematik-orkestra. Sebagai sebuah film seni dengan gaya sinematik khas Garin Nugroho, tidak hanya di Indonesia, film “Setan Jawa” berhasil memikat penonton di berbagai dunia, mulai dari Australia, Jepang, Perancis, dan Belanda. Pada setiap pertunjukan dan/atau pemutaran filmnya, “Setan Jawa” kerap kali mengangkat seni pertunjukan khas negara di mana film tersebut diputar, sebagai salah satu bagian yang berkolaborasi dengan unsur tradisi Indonesia (khususnya Jawa) yang diangkat menjadi latar narasi pada film “Setan Jawa”. Dengan metode studi kasus dan analisis dokumen, tujuan penelitian kualitatif ini adalah mengidentifikasi potensi keberpaduan teknologi film, seni, musik tradisi, dan orkestra, menghadirkan beragam mode komunikasi literatif; dengan asumsi bahwa keberagaman visual yang didukung dengan multiliterasi berpotensi sebagai saluran komunikasi budaya. Dari penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa sebagai film seni yang dihadirkan dengan pendekatan sinematik-orkestra, potensi multiliterasi  film “Setan Jawa” membuka ruang artistik sekaligus saluran komunikasi global dengan tetap berpijak pada unsur glokal, yang dapat menguatkan identitas kultural di era digital. Sebagai saluran komunikasi budaya, secara tidak langsung, bentuk film seperti “Setan Jawa” berpotensi berkontribusi terhadap rekontekstualisasi dan representasi nilai-nilai ideologi bangsa.

Abstract

There are many advertisements whose visual expressions are dominated by Western fine arts and graphic design techniques (which tend to be one of the patrons of graphic design scholarship in Indonesia, so it requires significant exploration and development of traditional art roots to be able to find ideas about Indonesian graphic design. Wimba Method and Visual Language Expression is a wealth of world visual language, in this research it is used as a reference for visual styles based on local Indonesian traditions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a digital survey as a research instrument, the research objects were 43 advertisements that were winners in the print-ads category in The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 1992 (the first year the Press and Outdoor Lions category appeared). From the research results, it was concluded that visual style has the impact of providing stimuli to the target audience to determine the priority of information to be accessed; where there is a tendency, determination This begins first from an affective point of view, rather than a cognitive one.
