Abstract

Abstract

Background: Epilepsy is a major chronic neurological problem in the world. The goal of epilepsy therapy is seizure-free and without side effects. The emergence of side effects in patients with epilepsy will be its limitations that can cause the failure of epilepsy therapy. Therefore, it is necessary to do a simple descriptive study, which illustrates the pattern of side effects of anti-epileptic drugs that occur in people with epilepsy, so that later clinicians are more alert and can take preventative measures. Objective: Knowing the pattern of side effects of antiepileptic drugs at the Neurology Outpatient Clinic dr. Saiful Anwar hospital. Methods: This research is an observational descriptive study. Samples were taken by filling the questionnaire at the Neurology Outpatient Clinic dr. Saiful Anwar hospital. Demographic data in this study will be presented in the frequency distribution table. Chi Square test is used to determine the relationship of demographic data, also the pattern of therapy with the side effects that arise. Results: 93 epilepsy patients were involved in the study. More than 40% of patients experience side effects. The most common side effects appear in idiopathic epilepsy (30.1%). Based on the duration of epilepsy, the most side effects appear in epilepsy duration> 10 years (17.2%). However, from the results of the influence test using chi square, there was no significant difference between the duration of epilepsy with the appearance of side effects, even the type of epilepsy (p-value> 0.05). 28 patients who experience side effects, appear after the duration of use of AED 1 - 5 years. It was found that the duration of AED uses affected the emergence of side effects (p-value <0.05).Conclusion: Side effects occur in patients taking anti-epileptic drugs, and are related to the duration of drug use. This data can be used to increase the awareness of clinicians related to the emergence of side effects in patients who consume AED.

Abstract

Background: Vascular dementia is a cognitive decline with functional deterioration caused by cerebrovascular disease. It is the second leading cause of dementia. A number of screening questionnaires and models have been developed to help in assessing cognitive function and activity daily living (ADL) in patients with dementia. Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Clock Drawing Test (CDT) and Barthel Index are instruments to evaluate cognitive function and ADL of vascular dementia patients. Objective: To determine the role of achetylcholine-esterase inhibitor therapy on cognitive function and ADL in patients with vascular dementia in Saiful Anwar General Hospital. Methods: This study is an analytical study assessing the improvement of cognitive function and ADL of patients with vascular dementia after administration of acethylcholine-esterase inhibitor by assessing the MMSE, CDT and Barthel Index scoring in 1, 3, 6 and 12 month period consecutively. Results: From 15 study subjects, individuals who have been given treatment for 12 months consecutively have the highest increase in MMSE and CDT whilst for Barthel Index has shown highest improvement in one month period. Conclusion: The administration of acetylcholine-esterase inhibitor drugs has the potential to improve and maintain cognitive function and improve ADL. The limited number of study subjects and the many confounding factors that we did not evaluate were the drawbacks of this study. The results of this study cannot be generalized to all patients with vascular dementia and only apply to 15 patients who were the subjects of this study.

Abstract

Healthcare services in hospitals involve a high level of complexity, making them prone to conflicts both within and outside the institution. The implementation of quality management still faces numerous obstacles, as evidenced by the lack of staff awareness regarding quality management, frequent conflicts, and unclear coordination, communication, and information pathways. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the roles, functions, and authorities of the governing body and the hospital director in quality management practices. The research design uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The main informants are the governing body and the hospital director, while the triangulation informants include attending physicians, nurses, and the quality team leader. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis. The results show that while the roles and functions of the governing body have been implemented, its authority has not been fully optimized. Likewise, the roles and authority of the director have been carried out, but the functions have not been optimally implemented. The study recommends allocating a budget for off-site training, creating guidelines for documentation and reporting, developing performance evaluation manuals, preparing evaluation checklists, and establishing internal satisfaction assessments.

Abstract

XYZ is a sports club specializing in swimming and water polo training, primarily focusing on developing young athletes. In the digital era, the club utilizes social media as its main platform to promote services and enhance brand visibility among the public. This study aims to analyze the digital marketing communication strategies implemented by XYZ Sports Club and explore ways to optimize their effectiveness. The research adopts a post-positivist paradigm with a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with club managers, coaches, and members, as well as observation of digital activities across social media platforms. The findings reveal that XYZ has applied an integrated marketing communication framework encompassing five strategic principles: identification, individualization, interaction, integration, and integrity. However, the effectiveness of these strategies remains limited due to the absence of a structured customer feedback system and insufficient use of digital analytics. The study recommends strengthening data-driven evaluation mechanisms to enhance message personalization and improve the overall effectiveness of digital marketing communication in community sports organizations.
