Abstract

Sweet corn is a horticultural crop that is in great demand by the people of Indonesia. The need for sweet corn continues to increase. Seed varieties with low quality and quality lead to low production yields. Efforts to increase the production of sweet corn include the use of superior varieties. To obtain superior varieties, several lines can be tested by crossing and mutation methods using gamma-ray irradiation. This study aims to obtain the best lines in the MS-UNSIKA variety M7 sweet corn. The research was conducted in November 2022 – February 2023 on land owned by PT. Corteva Agriscience, Ciwaringin Village, Lemahabang District, Karawang Regency. The research method used was an experimental method using a single factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). There were 13 treatments and repeated 3 times so that there were 36 experimental plots consisting of treatments SR1, SR3, SR4, SR5, M6, M8, M9, M10, G11, G12, G13, G14, and G15. If there is a significant effect, further analysis of the DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) is carried out at the 5% level. The results showed that the best average in the treatment of the SR1 strain variety MS-UNSIKA included cob weight with husks 283.00 grams, cob weight without husks 249.50 grams, cob length 20.45 cm, cob diameter 48.00 mm, number of row of 18 seeds, weight of 100 seeds 0.98 gram and yield of 6.80 kg/plot.

Abstract

Organic fertilizer made from medicinal plants and spices that have been fermented and mixed with favorable active microbes. The purpose of the study is to get a dose of biological organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer which gives the growth of sweet corn plants (Zea mays L. Saccharata Sturt) The highest commander variety. The study was conducted on the land owned by Biomethagreen (Educational House), Jl. Banjar Sari No.38, Awisurat Hamlet, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. The research method used is the experimental method, using a random design group (rack) a single factor consisting of 5 treatments and repeated 5 times, so there are 25 experimental units. The results showed that there was a concrete effect of the use of biological and inorganic organic fertilizer on plant height (1 and 3 MST), stem diameter (3, 5, 7, 9 MST), number of leaves (5 MST), anthesis silking intervals (ASI), and When a female flower appears in the growth of sweet corn plants (Zea mays L. Saccharata Sturt.) Panglima varieties. There is a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizer that produces the highest yield to the growth of sweet corn plants. The combination of treatment P1 (urea 250 kg/ha? NPK 300 kg/ha) affects the parameter of the stem diameter (1 and 5 MST), the number of leaves, interval silking anthesis (ASI), when male flowers appear, when appearing female flowers, combination of p4 effect on plant height parameters, and stem diameter (3, 7, 9 MST). Keywords : sweet corn, bio-organic fertilizers, inorganic fertilize, growth vegetative

Abstract

Fertilization is an important component in plant cultivation. The use of a combination of biological organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers can show more optimal results for soil and plants. Biological organic fertilizers contain organic matter and functional microorganisms that are good for plant growth and development. This study aims to obtain the best doses of biological organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers that are able to provide the highest growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt) Ms-Unsika strain. This research was conducted in Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency, from December 2021 to March 2022. The research method used a Single Factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) which was repeated 5 times. The treatments tested were: P1 (NPK 300 kg/ha + Urea 200 kg/ha), P2 (POH 7 cube/ha) P3 (POH 7 cube/ha and NPK 150 kg/ha + Urea 100 kg/ha), P4 (POH 7 cube/ha and NPK 75 kg/ha + Urea 50 kg/ha), and P5 (POH 10 cube/ha). The results of this study showed that the application of biological organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers had a significant effect on the growth and yield of sweet corn in the P3 treatment (POH 7 cube/ha and NPK 150 kg/ha + Urea 100 kg/ha) showed the best results on plant height parameters, stem diameter, number of leaves, cob length, cob weight with cob and cob weight without cob.

Abstract

Sweet corn is a holticultural that has an important role as a national food source. Corn serves as an alternative food after rice that is commonly consumed by people in Indonesia. One of the causes of decreased sweet corn productivity is attack on corn plant disease. Some important disease that attack sweet corn is leaf blight and leaf rust. Use a genetically mutated varieties resistant to these diseases is one of solution to increase sweet corn production caused by disease attack. This study aims to obtain the lowest intensity of important disease and the best production result in the MS-UNSIKA generation M8 sweet corn. The research was conducted in one of the lands of Kalihurip Village, Cikampek sub District, Karawang District, from February 2024 to Mei 2024. The research method used was an experimental method, using a Single Factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 6 MS-UNSIKA M8 sweet corn lines and 4 comparison varieties which were repeated 3 times in plots measuring 2 m x 2 m.. The results of the study showed significantly different effects of leaf blight attacks at 42 and 49 HST, and leaf rust disease at 56 and 63 HST. The Maestro and Bonanza varieties are the varieties that have the lowest attacks of leaf blight and rust with an average attack intensity of21.40% and 11.08% respectively. The results of this research also show that there is no correlation between leaf blight attacks on the production of sweet corn lines (Zea mays Var. saccharata Sturt). Keywords: sweet corn, leaf blight, leaf rust, important diseease
