Abstract

Article 2 of Presidential Regulation No. 18/2011 on the Prosecutorial Commission states that the Commission is a non-structural institution that is independent in its tasks and authorities. Although it is under and responsible to the President, this commission acts as an external supervisor of the prosecutor’s office, which is required due to frequent violations of ethical codes and abuse of authority by prosecutorial officials. The public is dissatisfied with case handling by the internal supervisor of the prosecutor’s office, so the presence of the Prosecutor’s Commission is expected. However, there is a discrepancy in the regulation of the Prosecutorial Commission. The commission, as an external supervisor, should be regulated by law to maintain a balance in constitutional law. In reality, the commission is only regulated through a Presidential Regulation, so it does not have the authority to summon and examine prosecution officials who have violated the code of ethics. This research aims to examine the duties and authorities of the Prosecutor’s Commission based on existing regulations, and to reformulate policies so that its tasks and authorities are in accordance with its expected role as an external supervisor of the prosecutor’s office. This research uses the normative juridical method, examining written law from various aspects such as theory, history, legal politics, and comparative national law. This research will also theoretically clarify the function of the prosecutor’s office in society. The Prosecutorial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia is regulated by Presidential Regulation No. 18/2011, but its autonomy has not been fully recognized because it is still responsible to the President and can only provide recommendations. Policy reformulation is required by amending Article 38 of Law No. 16/2014 so that the Prosecutorial Commission is governed by a stronger special law, allowing it to perform its duties independently.

Abstract

This study developed from the need to address concerns with student involvement in the classroom in light of changing educational conceptions. Traditional teaching methods usually result in passive learning experiences for pupils, which can inhibit engagement and comprehension. Recognizing this problem, the goal of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the ‘Think Pair Share’ cooperative learning approach as a novel strategy for improving student involvement and active participation. This is an action research project that employs questionnaires and observations as the data collection techniques. The research went through three action implementation cycles, each with four stages: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results obtained in the first cycle showed observation and questionnaire average scores of 66.7 (in a 100 scale) and 52, respectively, which then rose in the second cycle to 72.2 and 88.8. Nevertheless, it did not meet the success criterion of 75. It was only in the third cycle that the minimum intended level was reached, with 86 and 94.5, respectively. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that using the Think Pair Share cooperative teaching model can enhance student participation level. Based on the findings of this study, teachers should consider implementing cooperative teaching models to their classrooms.

Abstract

Abstract

This article explores teachers' implementation of the English Language Policy in Indonesian schools, as it has changed significantly in the last decade. We conducted this study in four public schools in the town of Banjarnegara and one private school in the town of Wonosobo, Central Java Province, Indonesia. In this study, we employed a descriptive-qualitative method. The data were obtained through interviews.  The study addresses three research questions, i.e. how is the school policy on English Language Teaching; how is the teachers’ planning on English Language Teaching; and how do the English teachers implement the policy and planning in their teaching. One school principal and five EFL teachers were interviewed for this purpose. The findings indicate that teachers’ attitudes towards English as a foreign language are influenced by their beliefs and government policy. Moreover, teachers use the curriculum to plan methodically, receive direction, and enhance their expertise. The Merdeka Curriculum allows teachers to use differentiated instructions and various approaches in learning activities, focusing on essential materials and creating a meaningful environment.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of team-based learning practice in the Teaching Campus program on the participating students' self-efficacy and the school mentor teachers' professionalism. A mixed methods approach was employed in this research. A total of 44 students (comprising 22 students who participated in the Teaching Campus program and 22 students who did not take the program) and seven teachers in partner schools were involved in the study. A questionnaire survey to assess students self-efficacy was administered. Interviews with teachers were also conducted to evaluate how much the program affected their professionalism during the activity. The responses obtained from questionnaires were analyzed using the inferential statistical tool of T-test, whereas the qualitative data elicited from interviews were analyzed using a thematic procedure. The ex-post facto design comparing self-efficacy of the two groups has shown that there is a significant difference, where the students who took part in the Teaching Campus program are  superior over those who did not. In addition, the teachers who co-worked with the students in their schools have stated that they benefited from the scheme. These results have strong implications for the 'Freedom to Learn - Freedom Campus' policy in current Indonesia's higher education system, more specifically the 'Teaching Campus' program, which includes team-based learning as an essential component. Betterment in its implementation is encouraged to make, according to results of this study.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze how personality traits influence tax evasion attitudes, moderated by religiosity and love of money. This research is a quantitative study using primary data sources. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to participants. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis method included descriptive statistical tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, and moderation tests. The study's results indicate that personality traits positively influence tax evasion attitudes. Religiosity serves as a moderating variable of the predictor-moderator type, meaning it can affect the relationship between personality traits and tax evasion attitudes. However, it does not significantly moderate this relationship. Religiosity does not serve to strengthen or weaken the relationship between personality traits and tax evasion. Instead, it is more suitably classified as an independent variable. Love of money is a variable that moderates the relationship between personality traits and tax evasion attitude and also serves as an independent variable and a quasi-moderator. As a quasi-moderator, love of money strengthens the relationship between personality traits and tax evasion attitude.
