Abstract

Background: Many industrial locations have been observed to have a high prevalence of work fatigue, which poses health and safety issues. Driving can be tiring, especially if the body is not rested so it can increase the risk of accidents. Accidents to tank car drivers can be fatal because they can cause massive losses to the company. Subjective work fatigue can be induced by various factors, such as work-related stress. Objectives: The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between work-related stress with work fatigue on the tank car driver of the PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and the fatigue and stress management that should be carried out. Methods: This research was an observational analytic conducted on a sample of 205 tank car drivers. The dependent variable in this research was subjective work fatigue. Data analysis using Spearman Correlation test. Results: The Spearman correlation coefficient was 0.071, which means that the variables of work-related stress and subjective work fatigue did not have a significant relationship. Conclusion: Variable work-related stress was not related to work fatigue may occur because other variables were not analyzed so it did not show a description of the causes of fatigue experienced. Companies must perform driver intervention programs to prevent stress and fatigue from worsening.

Purpose: To analyze the influence of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management on the building construction workers' safety behavior at construction service company Surabaya. Method: This research classification is observational and a cross-sectional research with analytic nature. This research is conducted over 4 months. The research sample amounted to 53 workers. Its dependent variable is safety behavior (OHS behavior) with the top manager's commitment, OHS procedure regulation, communication, worker's competency, interpersonal relationship and physical hazard as its independent variables. Data is descriptively analyzed in the form of a frequency table and cross-tabulation. A statistical test is performed by using the chi-square test with α=0.05. Result: Management commitment (p-value=0.001) and OHS procedure regulation (p-value=0.029) significantly affect the safety behavior implementation to the worker. Conclusion: Two Independent variables which affect the safety behavior of the building construction worker at construction service company Surabaya ware management commitment (X1) and OHS procedure regulation (X2). Abstract

Background: The movement of coal or other activities in the stockpile area of a steam power plant can create a coal dust hazard or commonly referred to as respirable dust. The smaller the particle size, the more harmful effects it can have on human health, such as bronchitis, decreased lung function, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Coal Worker's Pneumoconiosis (CWP), and other respiratory diseases. Purpose: To study the chemical hazards of the working environment of coal dust and the control efforts conducted in the stockpile area of a steam power plant company. Method: This research was descriptive observational with a cross-sectional study. The data were comprised of primary data collected from interviews and observations, and secondary data such as environmental measurement report and documentations owned by company. Result: The results of the measurement of coal dust hazard in the stockpile are were 0.007 mg/m3 and 0.063 mg/m3 for personal dust measurements. Some of the coal-dust-hazard control efforts performed by PT. POMI included the installation of a spray gun, a dust suppression system, reforestation, and ventilation setting. Further, OHS induction was conducted, together with safety talk, working hour regulations, toolbox meeting, training on the use of PPE, Medical Check Up (MCU), person authorization, preventive maintenance, and the use of PPE by workers. Conclusion: The measurement of the coal dust hazard in the stockpile area is below the threshold value which is 3 mg/m3 for respirable particles and 10 mg/m3 for inhalable particles. PT. POMI has done several preventive and control efforts towards coal dust hazard, and there were no health problems found in workers.

Abstract

Introduction: Organizational success is influenced by the performance of each employee in it. Work stress experienced by the employees is one of the obstacles in improving the quality of the organization. Another research showed that employees of Manado City Health Office experienced 27.7% low stress and 72.3% moderate stress, which affected the work productivity of the employees. This research aims to see the relationship between gender and exercise habits on the stress experienced by the employees of Surabaya City Health Office. Method: This research is an observational type of research where the primary data were obtained from the responses of 32 employees of the Surabaya City Health Office. The data were collected by using a questionnaire based on the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower No. 5 of 2018 concerning Occupational Health and Safety in the Work Environment. The primary data obtained were then analyzed using cross-tabulation in a data processing software. Result: This research shows that, with an alpha of 5% (0.005), the relationship between gender and work stress events has a significance value of 0.013, while the relationship between exercise habits and work stress events has a significance value of 0.006. Conclusion: This research shows that there is a significant relationship between gender and exercise habits on stress events in Surabaya City Health Office employees. Women employees experience a higher incidence of work stress than male employees. Furthermore, the habit of exercising can reduce stress events because exercising can stimulate endorphins which play a role in creating a sense of calm, reducing pain, and releasing tension

Abstract

Background: Online motorcycle drivers are faced with accidents and occupational health risks when driving, one of which is Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), which can interfere with comfort and focus when driving and can result in accidents. This study aims to analyze individual and biomechanical factors affecting MSDs in online motorcycle taxi drivers. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with an observational-analytic research design. A questionnaire was used to obtain data on individual and biomechanical factors. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire instrument was used to assess MSDs complaints. Results: The most commonly reported slight pain was in the right shoulder (56.7%), waist (55.0%), and upper neck and back (each 53.3%). The majority of online motorcycle drivers (76.7%) experienced low-level complaints. All individual and biomechanical factors have a positive relationship with MSDs complaints in online motorcycle drivers. Conclusions: Drivers must pay attention to their nutritional needs, stop smoking, and stretch 1-2 times a day regularly between work hours.
