Abstract

The environment is very important for us humans because it has a great impact on life. The lack of knowledge about the environment has led to rampant damage and pollution, including deforation. This has an impact on natural disasters such as eruptions, landslides, floods and other disasters that have an impact on casualties. Therefore, assistance needs to be carried out in an effort to educate the community, starting from children at an early age. Of course, this aspect is carried out in providing knowledge to the community about the impact of environmental damage so that it must be anticipated early. Assistance in early childhood in providing learning about environmental management can have a very important impact in preventing disasters. Therefore, the community must have awareness in implementing environmental conservation patterns by not littering and also polluting the environment. So this community service is carried out to foster public awareness to love the environment and preserve it so that it makes the living environment clean and healthy and beneficial for the community in Pulo Rungkom. Of course, this activity is expected to be useful and a good response from the community in Polo Rungkom village, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency and can become a pilot as an area whose environment is clean and sustainable nationally.

Abstract

This article examines the political reorientation of Generation Z voters in Aceh, Indonesia, between the 2019 and 2024 presidential elections. In Aceh—a post-conflict region where Islamic values and inherited political affiliations continue to shape civic life—young voters have traditionally aligned with electoral choices informed by family ties, clerical influence, and communal expectations. Using a sequential explanatory research design, this study combines survey data from two election cycles (n=73 in 2019; n=267 in 2024) with 30 in-depth interviews across three public universities. Findings reveal a notable shift from identity-based loyalty toward a more evaluative form of political reasoning. By 2024, many respondents reported prioritizing leadership credibility, programmatic vision, and policy clarity over ethnic and religious affiliation. This transformation was catalyzed by increased exposure to diverse information via social media, peer deliberation, and civic engagement in academic settings. However, the shift unfolded amid significant tension, particularly from family members and educators who framed political choice as a moral imperative. Respondents navigated these pressures through selective compliance, quiet dissent, and emerging political autonomy. This behavioral shift is understood here as a form of selective identity politics, in which inherited affiliations remain relevant but are increasingly subjected to rational and ethical scrutiny. The study contributes to broader discussions on youth political agency, identity negotiation, and democratic participation in culturally embedded and post-conflict contexts.

Abstract

This article explores the influences of purificative theology on the interpretation of religious teachings, with a particular focus on the Interfaith Communication Forum (FKUB) in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. As a descriptive qualitative study, it examines the perspectives of interfaith leaders, highlighting how religious understanding is shaped by individual and institutional theological interpretations. The research employs a theological framework grounded in the maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law), utilizing in-depth interviews and literature analysis as primary data collection methods. Informants include FKUB leaders, Islamic scholars (ulama), and Christian pastors. The FKUB plays a vital role in promoting religious harmony in Indonesia by facilitating dialogue among leaders of different faiths. Findings reveal that theological orientation significantly affects religious understanding, encompassing tendencies such as puritanism, exclusivism, inclusivism, fundamentalism, and moderation. In this context, the FKUB promotes an inclusive and moderate theological stance that encourages interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and the preservation of religious diversity. Members of the FKUB engage in open discussions, seeking shared values while upholding their own beliefs. From the perspective of Islamic law, such inclusivity aligns with the concept of mashlahah (public benefit), fostering social harmony and ensuring the well-being of the broader society. This approach helps sustain a tolerant and peaceful religious environment in Indonesia.

Abstract

The "self-government" was proposed as an alternative solution to independence and special autonomy to end the protracted conflict in Aceh. Based on the contents of the peace agreement signed in 2005, Aceh is given the right to self-government. However, this is not realized fully. This study aimed to explain the imagined self-government and the causes challenging it to be implemented. The study used a qualitative library research method in which data was sourced from online text documents. The data were analyzed using critical discourse analysis. The study found that the issue of "self-government" was initially at the center of the negotiation. The Free Aceh Movement - GAM envisioned it like Olan Island in Finland and Sarawak in Malaysia. Still, it has not been realized because it was not declared explicitly in the agreement, and the term "self-government" was used as a strategy to persuade GAM negotiators to continue in the negotiation. Further, the Government of Indonesia (GoI) offered Aceh special autonomy instead of self-government through the Law on Governing Aceh by ignoring the limitations on the authority of GoI over Aceh that was agreed. This was caused by five reasons that lay in the negotiation process and the realization of the agreement interconnected. Amongst; GAM was unbalanced to GoI during the negotiations and powerless to force GoI to obey the deal, and there was no punishment mechanism for the violator of the agreement. Finally, the study revealed that an inclusive process in drafting new laws for a post-conflict region does not always result in full outcomes by the agreement.

Abstract

This study analyzed the positive effects behind micro and small enterprises (MSEs) empowerment programs of the former combatants - the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) despite its problem, on transforming Aceh conflict to a positive peace.  MSEs play a critical role in contributing not only to economic empowerment but also conflict transformation and sustaining peace especially during the post peace agreement, that granted Aceh a form of decentralization of power from central government, with a significant degree of political and economic autonomy. Indonesia. Although the MSEs in rural Aceh Province most of them failed, they have positively contributed to the sustainable peace in the region.  Based on this assumption, this study explores the ex-combatant's experience with the MSEs program within the framework of decentralized power, and how the program gradually brought them back into the community. In-depth interviews, and field work observation, were the main techniques of the data collection. The data analysis was done using thematic analysis. The study found that autonomy and decentralization has created new political marketplace. MSEs that were set up in small groups of former combatants, civilian victims and other interested community members, was used to build patronage network and that led to their failure. However, the interactions occurring in operating these MSEs have re-established the relationships among the former combatants, victims, and ordinary people that were broken during the conflict. Thus, MSEs gradually reintegrated those ex-combatants into the community.
