Abstract

The main objective of this study was to determine the model of political communication in the Indonesian parliament. The phenomenon of political communication using 'violence', occurred in Indonesian parliament period 1999-2004. This research was conducted with qualitative analysis, by developing interactionist theory, constructive, symbolic interaction in the political sphere. The results found that political communication in Indonesian parliament cannot be conceived as direct communication because the communication is interactional and transactional. Therefore, every political message is ultimately between interests and disagreements. It can build a conceptual model in which ‘violence’ in the delivery of political messages physically or psychologically occurs on the ‘front stage', 'middle stage’ and ‘backstage’.

Abstract

As social creatures, humans need continuous interaction with each other. However, this cannot run normally in social life when they experience mental disorders which of course cause obstacles to the process of effective interpersonal communication. In fact, sufferers find it very difficult to open up and tend to receive inadequate acceptance from the social environment. This Community Service activity was carried out at the Efata Yogyakarta Foundation with the aim of reducing negative views towards people with mental disorders as well as providing a humanist approach in an effort to restore the mental health of patients at that place. Using discussion methods and interactive simulations, this activity was attended by all 30 patients with different medical symptoms. The activity facilitators conducted (1) question and answer sessions (2) carried out art therapy and (3) practiced music therapy. By optimizing direct interaction, in an orderly manner and taking turns the target group has the courage to show themselves with their respective talents, especially in singing and coloring activities together. Ironically, this kind of visit was actually the first activity carried out by an outside party for the Efata Yogyakarta foundation. So it is hoped that this activity can continue to be supported by all parties, not only the government, the community in the surrounding environment, and even all citizens as it provides a decent life and comfort for those who have so far been more marginalized.

Abstract

This study investigates how ethical concerns surrounding AI face-swapping are framed in digital discourse, using the case of the viral TikTok Face Swap Challenge. While such content is often perceived as playful and innovative, it raises significant issues related to consent, identity manipulation, and platform accountability. Employing Entman’s (1993) framing theory, this qualitative research analyzes user-generated TikTok videos, Indonesian and international media coverage, and expert interviews to explore how different actors construct meaning around this emerging technology. Using thematic framing analysis, the study identifies four dominant frames: (1) Innovation as Disruption, which celebrates novelty and creativity while minimizing risks; (2) Consent and Deepfake Risk, which highlights ethical concerns around impersonation and agency; (3) Ethics as Afterthought, reflecting how users and platforms sideline moral reflection for engagement; and (4) Platform Responsibility, which shifts focus to systemic enablers of virality without accountability. These frames often intersect, revealing the complex ways that ethical meaning is negotiated across participatory and institutional actors. The findings contribute to framing theory by extending its application to social media ecosystems, where users, media, and experts co-construct public narratives. The study also highlights the ethical vacuum often left by rapid innovation and offers practical implications for digital governance, media literacy, and algorithmic accountability. By mapping how public discourse shapes ethical understanding, this research underscores the urgent need for frameworks that balance technological advancement with robust moral consideration in platform-based communication

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed business practices worldwide, yet significant disparities remain in digital access and literacy, particularly among women entrepreneurs in urban Indonesia. This study examines the challenges faced by women-owned Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in South Jakarta, highlighting the persistent gender and digital gaps that hinder inclusive economic development. Utilizing a combination of qualitative methods, including focus group discussions and in-depth interviews, the research investigates the barriers to digital adoption, such as limited digital literacy, cultural norms, and infrastructural constraints. Grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and principles of inclusive development, the study emphasizes the importance of context-specific communication strategies and community-driven solutions to foster empowerment and gender equity in digital transformation. Findings reveal that while government initiatives like the Jakpreneur program have provided essential training and resources, a gap persists in tailored, participatory approaches that address women’s unique needs and socio-cultural realities. The research advocates for strengthening community-based digital literacy programs, peer learning models, and mentorship schemes that leverage local knowledge and social networks. By bridging the digital divide, these strategies aim to bolster women entrepreneurs’ capacity to leverage digital platforms, expand market access, and sustain business growth. Ultimately, promoting inclusive development communication is vital for transforming digital inclusion from mere policy rhetoric into tangible empowerment outcomes, ensuring that women entrepreneurs in Jakarta Selatan are active agents in Indonesia’s digital economy.
