Abstract

One of the highest and continually increasing phenomena of violence in Indonesia is sexual abuse. The most frequent victims of this phenomenon are early childhood. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the "SI ANDI - Siap Amankan Diri” (Ready to Protect Yourself) flashcard games on improving personal safety skills in early childhood. This study involved 40 subjects aged 4-6 years, divided into control and experimental groups (n=20 for each group). This research is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. Assessment of personal safety skills employed the WIST-III instrument. The hypothesis was analyzed using independent sample t-tests. The "SI ANDI" flashcard games program was effective on improving personal safety skills among participants in the experimental group, as evidenced by a statistically significant p-value of sig. 0.000 < 0.005. This finding suggests that the "SI ANDI" flashcard games can be used as an alternative tool for teaching personal safety skills in early childhood. Further observation is necessary to ascertain the long-term effects of using the "SI ANDI - Siap Amankan Diri" flashcards on the personal safety skills of young children. This is essential for identifying changes that occur over an extended period, providing insight into the sustained impact of the intervention. Abstract

Survei Indonesia National Mental Health Survey (I-NAMHS) pada tahun 2022 menemukan sekitar satu dari tiga peserta didik berusia 10-17 tahun mengalami masalah kesehatan mental dalam setahun terakhir, dengan satu dari 20 peserta didik mengalami gangguan mental. Meskipun isu kesehatan mental menjadi perhatian, upaya pencegahan dan pengobatan tidak sejalan.  Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah upaya penurunan permasalahan kesehatan mental peserta didik melalui psikoedukasi dan praktik self-healing pada siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini mencakup tiga tahap yaitu asesmen kesehatan mental, intervensi-pelatihan kesehatan mental, serta evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Intervensi-pelatihan kesehatan mental yang diberikan di SMA X yang terbukti dapat memunculkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman baru pada siswa melalui esensi dan efektivitas pada setiap sesi. Metode self-healing dengan penulisan jurnal ini terbukti dapat menurunkan permasalahan Kesehatan mental pada remaja seperti kecemasan, kesepian dan berpengaruh pada perilaku positif lainnya. Kegiatan pengabdian yang bersisi praktik self-healing melalui beberapa metode ini dapat mendorong pihak sekolah untuk dapat menindaklanjuti guna meningkatkan kesehatan mental peserta didik dan menurunkan kasus atau permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan kesehatan mental remaja.

Abstract

College students are in a period of instability, which may be stressful and put them at risk of developing the intention to self-harm. This study examines the effect of self-criticism as a mediator in the association between emotion dysregulation and the intention to self-harm. Quantitative research was conducted on 354 students aged 18-23 years, using the disproportionate cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used were an intention to self-harm scale, self-criticism scale, and emotion dysregulation scale. The results from the mediation analysis conducted using the PROCESS program of Hayes shows that self-criticism significantly mediates the association between emotion dysregulation and students' intention to self-harm (ab = .39, BootSE = .05, 95% BootCI [.29 to .48]). Nevertheless, the results also suggest that even after accounting for the mediating effect of self-criticism, emotion dysregulation still positively impacts students' intention to self-harm (c' = .14, p = .017). The implications of the findings provide insights for college students and all the parties involved with them regarding the mechanisms behind the intention to self-harm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus kepada remaja perempuan korban kekerasan seksual di panti asuhan. Dalam penelitian ini, pelaku pelecehan seksual adalah teman laki-laki yang tinggal di panti yang sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pelatihan asertivitas untuk meningkatkan harga diri remaja korban pelecehan seksual yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Partisipan penelitian terdiri dari 4 orang dengan rentang usia 12-18 tahun. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen one group pre and posttest design. Metode pengambilan data dilakukan melalui skala psikologi, wawancara dan observasi. Prosedur intervensi yang dilakukan dibagi menjadi 3 bagian utama yaitu pembukaan (pre-test/baseline), pelatihan dan terminasi (post-test). Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Coopersmith’s Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI) dan Coopersmith’s Behavior Rating Form (BRF) For Self-Esteem. Prosedur intervensi yang dilakukan terdiri dari 6 sesi yaitu: relationship control (behavioral contracting), systematic rational restructuring: memberikan dan menerima pujian, mengekspresikan perasaan, menyampaikan permintaan, mengatakan ‘tidak’ pada permintaan yang tidak rasional dan behavioral rehearsal. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai p = 0.26 (p < .05) yang berarti terjadi peningkatan harga diri pada remaja putri yang mengalami pelecehan seksual di panti asuhan setelah pelatihan asertivitas.

Abstract

On an annual basis, the rate of suicide cases among university students have been observed to experience a significant increase. A significant reason observed to be predominantly responsible for suicidal incidents is loneliness, and perceived social support is an effort renowned to reduce these feelings among university students. Therefore, this study aimed to thoroughly analyze the relationship between perceived social support and suicidal ideation in university students, with loneliness serving as the mediating variable. In order to achieve the stated objective, 395 respondents aged 18-24, who were engaged in a dating relationship or have a best friend, were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Accordingly, three scales were used in the analysis namely the suicidal ideation, the perceived social support, and the loneliness scales. The obtained results showed that a direct relationship exist between perceived social support and suicidal ideation. It is also important to state that the mediation effect through loneliness was found to be greater than the direct effect (-.4676 > -.225), indicating partial mediation. Based on the observations, it was suggested that enhancing perceived social support while reducing loneliness can play an important role in preventing suicidal ideation, particularly among university students. This study emphasizes the importance of fostering supportive environments and addressing loneliness to mitigate the risk of suicide among this vulnerable population.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus kepada remaja perempuan korban kekerasan seksual di panti asuhan. Dalam penelitian ini, pelaku pelecehan seksual adalah teman laki-laki yang tinggal di panti yang sama. Abstract

Sexual violence in Indonesia is increasingly prevalent across all ages and genders. Children are particularly vulnerable due to their lack of sexual education, underscoring the need to impart personal safety skills early. This study investigates the impact of puppet storytelling on enhancing young children's personal safety skills as a preventive measure against sexual violence. The subjects, aged 4-6 years and without prior sexual education, were divided into experimental and control groups of 25 children each. This quasi-experimental study utilized a non-equivalent control group design and was analyzed using the non-parametric Mann Whitney test, which showed a significant difference (Sig. 0.000 < 0.005) in the post-test and pre-test scores between the groups after the intervention. The findings indicate that puppet storytelling significantly improves the personal safety skills of young children, demonstrating the method's relative effectiveness when introduced at an early age.

Abstract

College students are in a period of instability, which may be stressful and put them at risk of developing the intention to self-harm. This study examines the effect of self-criticism as a mediator in the association between emotion dysregulation and the intention to self-harm. Quantitative research was conducted on 354 students aged 18-23 years, using the disproportionate cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used were an intention to self-harm scale, self-criticism scale, and emotion dysregulation scale. The results from the mediation analysis conducted using the PROCESS program of Hayes shows that self-criticism significantly mediates the association between emotion dysregulation and students' intention to self-harm (ab = .39, BootSE = .05, 95% BootCI [.29 to .48]). Nevertheless, the results also suggest that even after accounting for the mediating effect of self-criticism, emotion dysregulation still positively impacts students' intention to self-harm (c' = .14, p = .017). The implications of the findings provide insights for college students and all the parties involved with them regarding the mechanisms behind the intention to self-harm.

Abstract

The phenomenon of public display of affection (PDA), or the act of expressing affection in public spaces, has become increasingly prevalent among Indonesian adolescents. However, this practice often sparks debate, as Indonesian culture upholds values of modesty and Eastern norms that generally regard public displays of affection as inappropriate. This study aims to examine the contribution of possessiveness and self-existence in predicting public display of affection attitude among Indonesian adolescents. Employing a quantitative approach, the study involved 300 adolescents aged 13–18 years in Indonesia, selected through a cluster sampling technique. The instruments used included the Love Addiction Inventory, the Self-Existential Scale, and a public display of affection attitude scale developed by the researchers. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The findings revealed that possessiveness and self-existence significantly influenced public display of affection attitude, contributing a total of 60%. Furthermore, significant differences were found based on gender in the average scores of the public display of affection and self-existence variables, with male adolescents tending to have higher average scores on both variables. These results provide a basis for developing educational programs on healthy expressions of affection and serve as a reference for further research on the psychological dynamics within adolescent interpersonal relationships.
