Abstract

This study examines the prevalence of overweight and obesity and determines the association between nutrition-related Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) and obesity among deaf adults from low-income households in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Using purposive sampling, 120 deaf adults from three community centres participated in this cross-sectional study. Anthropometric measurements and sociodemographic data were taken along with information on nutritionrelated KAP were collected via a validated questionnaire with assistance from a certified Malaysian sign language interpreter. The average age of participants was 43.1±10.5 years, with a majority being female, Malay, and educated at the secondary level. Overweight and obesity prevalence reached 58.3%. Mean scores for nutrition-related KAP were 53.1±17.5, 4.2±1.7, and 7.4±2.2, respectively. Lower scores in healthy eating practices were significantly associated with higher odds of obesity after adjusting for age, ethnicity, education years, waist-to-hip ratio and body fat percentage (OR=0.73; 95% CI: 0.55‒0.97; p<0.05). Poor eating practices are associated with obesity among deaf adults. A targeted nutrition education initiative addressing the specific needs of this population is essential to reduce obesity risks.

Abstract

To support SDGs-3 to achieve conditions of good health and well-being amidst the conditions of society, support is needed for resilient community groups who are economically creative. The residents of Penjaringan Sari Village are among the village residents who have won Surabaya SMART City 2020. They are an alternative tourist village developing a productive economy by selling processed drinks based on Telang flowers. However, in this community group, many problems still require assistance. Efforts need to be made to solve the problems of PKK women's partners in the Penjaringansari sub-district to improve production quality, starting from preparing raw materials, selecting and using packaging correctly, and increasing the diversification of partners' processed products and product branding. This activity aims to provide community service from a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University, in collaboration with lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Nahdatul Ulama University, Surabaya. This activity is a tri dharma of higher education where the community can feel lecture materials, research results, and previous community service products as partners in supporting SDGs-3 Good Health and Well-being. The outcome is an increase in participants' understanding, indicated by an average post-test score of 75, with an increase of 26% compared to the pretest. Apart from that, there is an increase in skills in making syrup and Telang flower powder drinks.

Abstract

The food industry experiences various serious problems when several food MSMEs (micro/small/medium enterprises), especially micro-scale ones, practice improper food manufacturing methods, such as the use of formalin and borax which are prohibited for food preservation, and the marketing of expired food, even repackaged, and the writing of halal labels that are not followed by the fulfillment of requirements. Efforts to prevent things that are detrimental to the community, as well as food and beverage MSME actors, are not only the responsibility of government agencies but also the entire community, including universities for education and assistance in improving the quality and quantity of products produced, as well as the quality of human resources of business actors. The methods used include counseling and skills training, and the outcome is an increase in knowledge of 31%

Abstract

In this study, researchers used data respondents, such as gender, age and long working respondents to provide information on the characteristics of respondents. The questionnaire was spread over 77. The discussion in this chapter is the result of field studies to obtain data on the questionnaire responses that measure five key variables in the study, namely ethics, work discipline, work environment, job satisfaction and employee motivation. Analysis of data with parametric and non parametrics statistics using SEM-PLS (structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Square) on the research variables, instrument test, normality test, hypothesis test, as well as discussion of the hypothesis test results and path analysis Path. This research uses path analysis to test relationship patterns that reveal the influence of variables or a set of variables against other variables, both direct influences and indirect influences. Calculation of line coefficient in this study assisted with Smart PLS Ver 3.0. To find out the direct and indirect influences between variables then be seen from the calculation result of the line coefficient and to know the significance. The effect of the variable X3 on X4 has a P-Values value of 0.017 <0.05, so it can be stated that the influence between X3 on X4 is significant. The effect of the X3 variable on Y has a P-Values value of 0,000 <0.05, so it can be stated that the effect between X3 on Y is significant. The influence of the variable X4 on Y has a P-Values value of 0.046 <0.05, so it can be stated that the influence between X4 on Y is significant. The influence of the variable X1 to X4 has a P-Values value of 0.046 <0.05, so it can be stated that the influence between X1 to X4 is significant. The influence of the variable X1 on Y has a P-Values value of 0.045 <0.05, so it can be stated that the effect between X1 on Y is significant. The effect of variable X2 on X4 has a P-Values value of 0.005 <0.05, so it can be stated that the influence between X2 on X4 is significant. The influence of the variable X2 on Y has a P-Values value of 0.047 <0.05, so it can be stated that the influence between X2 on Y is significant.
