Abstract

Hospitals play a key role in promoting health through education, especially for patients and their families. One effective method to support postpartum recovery is postpartum exercise, which helps restore bodily functions, promote uterine involution, and prevent complications. At the Mina Inpatient Ward of RSI Arafah Jambi, many postpartum mothers had not received proper education about these exercises. To address this, a community service activity was held from April 29 to May 12, 2025, targeting 16 postpartum mothers. Five mothers received only verbal education due to limited mobility, while 11 joined both education and exercise demonstrations. Observations and discussions showed improved knowledge and skills, with most mothers able to recall and correctly perform the exercises. Their active participation and positive feedback highlighted the effectiveness of the educational approach. This initiative proves valuable in enhancing postpartum recovery and is recommended for continued integration into hospital health promotion programs.

Abstract

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a non-pharmacological therapy method used to reduce pain, including in burn patients. Burns cause complex pain, both acute and chronic, thus requiring multidisciplinary management. This study is a literature review aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in reducing pain in burn patients. Data were collected from 10 scientific articles published within the last ten years, including clinical studies, pilot studies, and meta-analyses. The review findings indicate that Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is effective in reducing pain intensity, accelerating wound healing, improving sleep quality, and decreasing the need for pharmacological analgesics. Additionally, the use of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) has been reported as safe and does not cause significant side effects. However, most of the analyzed studies still have limitations, such as small sample sizes and short intervention durations. Therefore, further research with stronger experimental designs is needed to strengthen clinical evidence and support the implementation of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) as part of pain management in burn patients.

Abstract

During the operation of hospitals, various types of waste are generated in the form of liquid, solid, and gaseous substances. Medical waste must be handled correctly and safely to ensure the health and safety of staff and other people in the hospital environment. The management of hospital waste, especially the sorting of medical waste, must have the consistent goal of protecting the population from environmental pollution threats caused by hospitals. Medical waste sorting requires advanced knowledge and attitude of nurses, the purpose of this study is to find out the knowledge of nurses about medical waste sorting and the attitude of nurses about medical waste sorting. The management of medical waste must be handled appropriately and safely to ensure the safety of health professionals and workers and others in the hospital environment. The design of this study was descriptive and quantitative and included 71 nurses as head nurses and team leaders in surgical and inpatient settings. The total sampling technique was 71 nurses. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires to the respondents. This study showed that 71 respondents with high knowledge sorted medical waste well and 49 (69%) had a good nursing attitude, 47 (66.2%) respondents sorted medical waste well. The analysis showed that a p-value of 0.01 was obtained for the relationship between medical waste sorting knowledge and nurses' attitudes towards medical waste sorting. Most of the nurses had high knowledge and good attitudes about medical waste management. In addition, it was necessary to increase the socialization of dangerous and toxic waste (B3) carried out by the hospital to improve the knowledge and attitudes of nurses in the sorting of medical waste.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of PMR training on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a two group pretest-posttest design approach. The sampling method in this research was simple random sampling and a sample of 50 people was obtained. 25 respondents in the intervention group and 25 respondents in the control group. Bivariate analysis used the Wilcoxon test and the Man Whitney test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant effect between reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers before and after being given progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) in the working area of the Putri Ayu Community Health Center, Jambi City.
