Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore how the concept of STEM were used and negotiated by teachers in kindergarten. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are inseparable parts of everyday life. This study was focused on teachers' perspectives on STEM learning in kindergarten level. STEM learning in this article included activities integrated into the existing themes in kindergarten. STEM learning involves children's creativity and stimulation to solve problems, know the solutions, and think logically, mathematically, and critically. In its implementation, STEM learning cannot be separated from the teachers' perspectives. Thus, analysing teachers' perspectives on STEM learning in kindergarten, including what activities were included, will contribute to early childhood education development. This research was a qualitative study and carried out using an online interview. Drawing on data from 50 kindergarten teachers in Indonesia as the respondents, findings of this study indicated that the term STEM was still considered unfamiliar for kindergarten teachers, the implementation and benefits of STEM in kindergarten also implemented with a more flexible model.

Abstract

Percaya diri merupakan salah satu modal dalam kehidupan yang harus ditumbuhkan pada diri setiap peserta didik agar di masa mendatang mereka dapat menjadi manusia yang mampu mengontrol berbagai aspek yang ada pada dirinya sebagai kondisi psikologis yang paling berperan dalam menjalani kehidupan seseorang. Orang yang kurang percaya diri umumnya bersikap pasif, diam, tidak bergerak karena pikirannya yang negatif tentang dirinya sendiri maka cenderung merasa rendah diri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan peran manajemen pengembangan bakat dalam menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri pada peserta didik di SMA PESAT School of Talent. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis yang dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan suatu fenomena yang dialami. Subjek penelitian ini melibatkan wakil kepala bidang pengembangan talent, staf bidang manajemen pengembangan bakat dan minat, dan pelatih. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan antaralain: (1) pengembangan talent berimplikasi dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri di kalangan peserta didik, (2) Branding School of Talent di SMA PESAT dinilai sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri pada peserta didik dan meningkatnya antusiasme mereka dalam mengikuti berbagai pentas kejuaraan.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to explore children's literacy activities at home that involve parenting in Indonesia from a social inclusion perspective. Design/methods/approach – This study uses a qualitative research method. Analyzing the results of interviews conducted with four parents and teachers in Palembang, Indonesia, and using a critical theory perspective as the basis for the analysis. Findings – In the setting of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), literacy practices are not only carried out at school but also in the home and community. Based on the findings that we conducted on four parents and teachers in Palembang, the practice of early literacy at home is very diverse. The practice of early literacy at home is also still experiencing problems, especially in the provision of media that supports children's literacy interests, especially in the fields of reading and numeracy. Research implications/limitations – From an early age, it is important to synergize the roles of families, institutions, and the government in an effort to support the practice of early literacy based on social inclusion. Practical implications – This study has deep implications for realizing the interest in children's literacy in this country. Abstract

This research aims to describe parental parenting patterns on the social development of children aged 3-4 years in the Kebun Tebeng sub-district, Bengkulu. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The subjects of this research consisted of five parents who had children aged 3-4 years. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis used in this research is the Miles and Huberman model of qualitative data analysis, which consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the way parents care for children in fostering the social development of children (3-4) years in the Kebun Tebeng Bengkulu sub-district is that parents: 1) guide and pay attention to children, 2). Supervise and give an example to children 3). provide opportunities for children to express their feelings, 4). Respond calmly to the child's behavior.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat dan penyebarannya yang sangat cepat serta penyebaran virus Corona mengakibatkan pergeseran fungsi pendidikan pada masyarakat Kampung Baru. Untuk mencapai keberhasilan tersebut perlu ditanamkan kedisiplinan belajar sejak dini dan selalu berupaya mengingatkan budaya belajar membaca dan berhitung khususnya dalam hal literasi dan numerisasi bagi siswa di SDN 003 Bukit Kapur. Bimbingan dapat diperoleh dari setiap individu yang memiliki tujuan untuk membantu setiap siswa mengenal dirinya sendiri dan mampu bertindak adil, memfasilitasi siswa untuk membuat keterampilan dan pemahaman dalam belajar. Selain itu, bimbingan belajar juga dapat membantu memecahkan masalah belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using projectors for teaching English in early childhood education, focusing on teachers' perceptions, the impact on student attention and understanding, and the challenges encountered. Technological advancements, particularly the use of projectors, have been shown to enhance educational experiences by making lessons more engaging and interactive. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method, interviewing 12 kindergarten teachers in Tangerang to gather insights on their experiences with projectors. Findings indicate that teachers generally view projectors positively, appreciating their ability to capture students' attention and facilitate comprehension of basic English concepts. Projectors are effective in providing clear visual content and supporting multisensory learning, but their impact is influenced by factors such as the teacher's proficiency, content relevance, and classroom environment. Challenges include limited availability of projectors, inadequate technical training, and difficulties in maintaining young children's attention. The study underscores the need for improved access to technology, better teacher training, and thoughtful integration of projectors into teaching practices. Future research should explore the long-term effects of projector use and develop best practices for their implementation in early childhood education.

Abstract

Background: Peningkatan kualitas gizi anak usia dini sangat penting dalam mendukung tumbuh kembang optimal, terutama di wilayah Kabupaten Tangerang yang masih menghadapi permasalahan stunting. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru PAUD dan orang tua terkait pentingnya nutrisi seimbang dan pemanfaatan bahan makanan lokal dalam menyusun menu makanan sehat di sekolah. Metode: Kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan interaktif telah dilaksanakan, meliputi teknik memasak sehat, pengetahuan gizi, dan penggunaan bahan pangan lokal. Selain itu, penerapan teknologi dilakukan melalui media sosial untuk menyebarkan informasi pentingnya gizi seimbang serta menyediakan tutorial memasak. Hasil: Evaluasi program dilakukan melalui Pre-Test dan Post-Test yang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan peserta. Survei kepuasan satu bulan setelah program juga menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan yang diberikan mulai diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kesimpulan: Program ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi angka kekurangan gizi pada anak usia dini dan mendorong penggunaan bahan makanan lokal sebagai upaya keberlanjutan kesehatan anak di PAUD.

Abstract

Teachers have the freedom to choose various open tools so that learning can be tailored to the learning needs and interests of students (Kemendikbudristek, 2022). Understanding concepts will be more optimal in learning because children do not only focus on the results but understand the learning process and children will understand a learning concept thereby forming children's competence in learning (Nufus & Pertiwi, 2021). Just like learning calistung, data shows that the level of calistung, especially in reading and writing, is still low (Data, 2015). Teachers can use various media to optimize teaching and learning activities (Nufus, 2021), not only teachers but parents can also apply various media in an activity to support children's growth and development (Ismail, 2006). In the era of technology, teachers can easily get media that supports learning. Conventional media that is made by themselves from used materials with the concept of going green has a plus point and introduces children to how to protect the earth. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The place of research is PAUD Aisyiyah Baitul Athfaal. This research was conducted from 12-30 June 2023, and involved 50 teachers and parents. Researchers collect data using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Researchers provide an understanding of the growth and development of children aged 4-6 years which is integrated into calistung abilities, the results are that of the 50 research subjects the majority do not know child growth and development according to age, looking at children so that teachers and parents do not understand the concept of calistung in children aged 4-6 years . Parents choose to buy book packages for calistung according to age and teachers rely on existing book packages for calistung learning media, parents cannot make their own media using existing or used materials because they think it is troublesome and time consuming. The next step is direct practice in making media for learning calistung using used media with the concept of going green, enthusiastic teachers and parents in the process of making media using materials from used cardboard, glue, various shapes and colors of used bottle caps, cardboard and rubber bands.

Abstract

Communication is needed in every company activity as a means that can encourage employees to improve performance. Apart from communication, the lack of positive Human Resources (HR) initiatives within the company can result in alienation among employees. It is important for organizations to combine communication and the effectiveness of HR practices into one coherent form in facing challenges and improving employee work performance. Individual Work Performance (IWP) in a company is an important aspect for leaders in the process of achieving company goals. Individual Work Performance (IWP) measurements need to be carried out periodically to find out whether the business is achieving company goals and as a benchmark for making improvements to achieve the set goals. This research aims to analyze the influence of employee communication and the perceived effectiveness of HR initiatives on Individual Work Performance (IWP), which consists of three main elements, namely task performance, contextual performance and counterproductive work behavior. The method in this research is quantitative research using a questionnaire totaling 100 respondents with data processing using SmartPLS. The subjects in this research were employees of the Gunungkidul Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office. The results of the analysis in this study show that employee communication is proven to influence all elements of Individual Work Performance, namely task performance, contextual performance and counterproductive work behavior, whereas the perceived effectiveness of HR initiatives is proven to only influence one element of Individual Work Performance, namely contextual performance.

Abstract

In Indonesia, halal labeling is crucial for Muslim consumers, but understanding varies, especially among early childhood children. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of halal and healthy food concepts. The activity was carried out using interactive education methods (storytelling, singing, halal logo demonstrations) at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Panongan 1. The results of the activity showed an increase in children's understanding of halal food concepts and the Indonesian halal logo. The interactive education conducted proved to be effective, engaging, and able to help children remember the halal concept in a fun way. This activity emphasizes the importance of the role of teachers, parents, and educational institutions in introducing the concept of halal food from an early age, to build awareness and positive habits towards food consumption that aligns with Islamic principles.
