Abstract

Indonesian is an asset for the Indonesian nation which is always maintained both in the realm of Education and non-Education. Therefore, Indonesian is expected to be global for other countries. Related to this, the Indonesian program for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) as a bridge in introducing the language to the world, namely through four language skills. One of them is writing skills. This study aims to determine students' ability to write Indonesian vocabulary through the  Indonesian teaching program for foreign speakers (BIPA) at Darul Maaref School Foundation, Satun, Thailand. This research method is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The results of the study found that written language errors in  Darul Maaref School Foundation students included the use of incomplete sentence types, namely 11 data, word arrangement 3 data, capital letters 96  data, pronouns 1  data, prepositions 15  data, word choice 27  data, spelling 46  data, hyphen 3  data, and affix 2 data. The factors causing students' written language  errors  are  caused by  the influence of spoken language, students have not fully understood Indonesian grammar, students have not carefully  written Indonesian, and BIPA learning has not been effective.  Related to these findings, BIPA teaching materials are needed by emphasizing Indonesian that are in accordance with the rules of Indonesian Spelling  (EBI)  and presented as innovative and fun BIPA learning for students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Round Club terhadap kemampuan menganalisis unsur cerita pendek pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan tahun pembelajaran 2022/2023. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-B dan VIII-E yang berjumlah 62 siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain postest only control design. Instrumen yang digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mengukur keberhasilan model ini adalah tes tertulis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kemampuan menganalisis unsur cerita pendek dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning rata-rata 72,61, termasuk ke dalam kategori cukup. Sedangkan kemampuan menganalisis unsur cerita pendek dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Round Club rata-rata 81,45 termasuk ke dalam kategori baik. Berdasarkan uji t diketahui nilai thitung ttabel yaitu 3,21 1,670 dengan hipotesis ini terbukti diterima. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran Round Club terhadap kemampuan menganalisis unsur cerita pendek pada kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together terhadap kemampuan menganalisis struktur dan kebahasaan teks cerpen siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan tahun pembelajaran 2022/2023. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan. Contoh penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-E dan VIII-D yang berjumlah 62 siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain postest only control design. Instrumen yang digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mengukur keberhasilan model ini adalah tes tertulis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kemampuan siswa menganalisis struktur dan kebahasaan teks cerpen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional rata-rata 65,16, termasuk ke dalam kategori cukup. Sedangkan kemampuan siswa menganalisis struktur dan kebahasaan teks cerpen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together rata-rata 78,64 termasuk ke dalam kategori baik. Berdasarkan uji t diketahui nilai thitung ttabel yaitu 4,72 1,670 dengan hipotesis ini terbukti diterima. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together terhadap kemampuan menganalisis struktur dan kebahasaan teks cerpen oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to analyze effectiveness the use of vocabulary flashcard of reading practice for foreign learners at Darul Muhmin School, Thailand. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods with the research subject of class 6-3 at Darul Muhmin School with a total of 19 students. Data collection techniques consisted of observation, tests, and interviews. This research was conducted for two weeks, on the first week students practiced reading without using vocabulary flashcard and the second week student using vocabulary flashcard. The results show that the use of vocabulary flashcard can be applied to reading practice is one of the new alternative in BIPA learning. Students become active and make learning interesting. Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of applying repetition theory to enhance beginning reading skills among foreign learners at Thammasat Wittaya School in Thailand. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this classroom action research involved 15 Matthayom 2 students over one month in August 2024. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The study focused on five assessment criteria: accuracy of voicing and writing, pronunciation fairness, intonation fairness, fluency, and clarity of voice. The results indicate that repetition theory positively impacts learners’ reading abilities, with significant variation in performance among students. Some learners showed consistent improvement, while others required more intensive support. such as Nunchaona getting 18, Sadeen getting 17, Najwa getting 16, and Chanapa getting 16, showing consistent good performance in all aspects of the assessment. On the other hand, learners like Nisna got 7, Nadir got 7, and Nur got 10. These learners need more intensive guidance. In-depth analysis of learners' reading ability was conducted through five main aspects: accuracy of writing, pronunciation fairness, intonation fairness, fluency, and clarity of voice. The results showed significant variation in ability among learners.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the vocabulary writing ability of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) learners through the Simak-Catat technique in Matthayom 5 class at Islamwittaya School. The subject of the research is Matthayom 5 class at Islamwittaya School which consists of 22 learners. The method used was Classroom Action Research (PTK) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through vocabulary writing skill test, documentation, and direct observation. The results showed that the vocabulary writing ability of BIPA learners had improved significantly. In the pre-action stage, the class average score was 64 (poor category). In cycle I, after the application of the simak catat technique, the average score increased to 79 (fair category). Improvements in cycle II by paying attention to time allocation and using paper media with pictures of objects around the classroom resulted in an increase in the average score to 90 (good category). A significant increase can be seen from the percentage of learners who scored very well, from none in the preaction, increasing to 14% in cycle I, and reaching 45% in cycle II. The teacher activity observation also showed an increase from 79% in cycle I to 91% in cycle II, while the learner activity observation increased from 62% to 88%. This study concludes that the simak catatat technique is effective in improving the vocabulary writing ability of BIPA learners, by encouraging learners to actively record and process linguistic information systematically and contextually.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the BIPA teaching material "Fluent Reading of Letter Combinations" in improving the reading skills of elementary-level students at Islam Wittaya School. The research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consists of 10 students from class 3/1 Mattayom at Islam Wittaya School, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through reading proficiency tests and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The prerequisite tests included normality and homogeneity tests, while the hypothesis test was conducted using a paired sample t-test. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' reading skills after using the teaching material. The posttest mean score was higher than the pretest score, and the number of students who achieved the Proficient category increased. The normality and homogeneity tests confirmed the validity of the data distribution, while the t-test results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. In conclusion, the BIPA teaching material "Fluent Reading of Letter Combinations" is effective in improving the reading skills of elementary-level BIPA students

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan Program pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk pendidikan ini atas dasar kerjasama mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara dengan Desa Sei Limbat, Kecamatan Selesai, Kabupaten Langkat, Provinsi Sumatera Utara terhadap minat literasi, upaya dalam meningkatkan literasi terhadap anak-anak, dan peran bimbingan belajar di Desa Sei Limbat. Peran penting terhadap minat literasi pada anak-anak dapat didukung dengan bimbingan belajar untuk anak-anak. Penelitian ini dilakukan langsung kelapangan dan Metode penelitian yang dipilih adalah studi literatur. Teknik analisis yang digunakan yaitu analisis SWOT. Teknik analisis SWOT memiliki 4 kegiatan utama yaitu: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, dan threats. Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa dengan adanya bimbingan belajar merupakan salah satu jalan untuk meningkatkan minat literasi yang sangat berdampak baik pada anak- anak, dengan rasa keingintahuan dan rasa semangat yang ada untuk ingin selalu belajar sehingga peran bimbingan belajar sangat mendukung dalam upaya meningkatkan minat literasi di Desa Sei Limbat. Peran bimbingan belajar tidak akan berjalan dengan baik jika tanpa dukungan dari kedua orang tua, dukungan internal yang diberikan orang tua kepada anak-anak juga sangat berdampak pada minat literasi yang tumbuh pada diri anak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh model peta pikiran (mind mapping) terhadap kemampuan menulis rangkuman alur cerita fiksi pada siswa kelas VIII MTs Nurul Huda Medan Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs Nurul Huda Medan Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023 yang terdiri atas tiga kelas yaitu VIII-A, VIII-B, dan VIII-C yang berjumlah 97 orang siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif, penelitian ini menggunakan design penelitian one-group-pretest-posttest. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa tes yaitu dengan tes menulis rangkuman alur cerita fiksi. Berdasarkan teknik analisis data, dapat diketahui bahwa menulis rangkuman alur cerita fiksi dengan menggunakan model peta pikiran (mind mapping) memperoleh nilai rata-rata 87,60 dibuktikan dengan rincian 85-100 berjumlah 22 siswa dengan presentase 78,57% dan 70-84 berjumlah 6 siswa dengan presentase 21,42%. Sedangkan kemampuan menulis rangkuman alur cerita fiksi sebelum menggunakan model peta pikiran (mind mapping) dengan nilai rata-rata 68,70 dibuktikan dengan rincian 85-100 berjumlah 4 orang dengan presentase 14,28%, 70-84 berjumlah 8 orang dengan presentase 28,57% dan 55-69 berjumlah 16 orang dengan presentase 57,14%. Maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh model peta pikiran (mind mapping) terhadap kemampuan menulis rangkuman alur cerita fiksi pada siswa kelas VIII MTs Nurul Huda Medan tahun pembelajaran 2022/2023.
