Abstract

This research was motivated by the interest of researchers to determine student perceptions of the use of the Quizizz application as an assessment tool in the EFL class at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. This study uses descriptive statistics as a research design. The researcher prepared 25 statements in a closed e-questionnaire as a data collection tool. The sampling technique in this study was random sampling with a total sample of 36 students. The results of data analysis show that most of the EFL students at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu have a Positive Perception/agree to the use of the Quizizz application as an assessment tool in the EFL class.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there was a significant correlation between students’ motivation and their reading comprehension. This research approach that used quantitative with research design was correlation. The population of this research was tenth grade science students at SMAN 1 Bengkulu in academic year 2021/2022, and the sample was the students of X IPA 3. In collecting data, researcher uses some instrument such as motivation questionnaires and reading comprehension test. After getting the data, they were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Formula. The analysis was found out that there was a significant correlation between students’ motivation in reading and their reading comprehension. The correlation coefficient was the rvalue 0,966 that was higher than rtable 0,329. The result indicated that the Ho is rejected and the Ha is accepted.

Abstract

This study deals with the teachers’ talk of the EFL classroom of SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. It aims to describe the types of speech functions used by English teachers in the EFL classroom of SMA Pancasila Bengkulu, to find out the most dominant type used by English teachers in EFL classes at SMA Pancasila Bengkulu, and to describe the reasons why English teachers use speech function differently in EFL classroom. This thesis research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative. Researchers used triangulation data collection techniques, namely observation, audiovisual material, and interviews. Data transcription is classified into six basic types of speech function. There are expressive, directive, referential, metalinguistic, poetic, and phatic. The researcher observed two English teachers at SMA Pancasila Bengkulu. From the two teachers observed, the researcher found different total utterances and percentages. The total utterances of the two teachers were 80 utterances classified into six types of speech functions. The most dominant type used by all teachers is the referential function. There are 28 utterances out of 80 utterances (35%) which are classified as referential functions. Why they use the speech function differently is because each type of speech function has a different function that must be adapted to different conditions and situations in the classroom.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to discover and describe seventh-grade students' attitudes toward EFL learning at SMPN 28 Seluma. When a student participates in class, he exhibits certain behaviors. The descriptive-quantitative method was used in this study. This study's population consisted of 41 students in seventh grade. A quota sampling technique was used to collect samples from 41 students. A questionnaire about student responses was used to collect data in this study. A positive questionnaire with 15 items and a negative questionnaire with 15 items comprise the questionnaire. The results of data analysis based on the questionnaire showed an average value of 73.215, meaning that students had a positive attitude towards EFL learning.

Abstract

Permasalhan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini iyalah bagaimana bentuk pesan moral semiotika dalam lirik lagu Iwan Fals pada album keseimbagan 2010.Tujuan peneliti umtuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan pesan moral semiotika dalam lirik lagu Iwans fals pada album keseimbagan 2010. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengam metode contect analysis (analisis isi) yang bentuk kepustakaan (library research). Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah Teknik Pustaka baca simak, inventarisasi, identifikasi dan dokumentasi Data yang digunakan oleh penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah Teknik penguji kepercayaan (credibility) yang terdiri dari dua acara, yaitu meningkatkann ketekunan dan menggunkakan bahan referensi . Sumber data yamg diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah lirik lagu Iwan Fals pada album keseimbagan 2010. Bentuk dan pesan moral semiotika dalam lirik lagu Iwan Fals pada album keseimbagan 2010 terdapat 3 bentuk yaitu: 1 Grood terdapat mengenai qulisigns, sensigns, lingisigns. 2 Denotatum berupa icon, index, dan symbol. 3 Interpretant berupa . rheme, decisign, dan argument. Adapun pesan moralnya terdapat 3 pesan moral yaitu : 1 pesan moral terhadap kesadaran manusia dan lingkugan sosial, 2 pesan moral ppenuh kasih manusia dan tuhan, 3 pesan moral saling menyayangi , dan saling tolong menolong.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana wordwall media yang digunakan siswa untuk menambah kosakata mereka dalam bahasa Inggris berdampak pada mereka. Metode kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yang dirancang sebagai eksperimen quasi. Dalam penelitian ini, dua kelas digunakan: kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. 20 siswa kelas VII Mekkah dan 20 siswa kelas VII Madinah digunakan sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Pre-test, treatment, dan post-test digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Nilai pre-test dan post-test dibandingkan untuk menunjukkan hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak, dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Nilai sig (2 tailed) dari varian varian yang sama adalah 0,000 dan α=0,05. Didasarkan pada perhitungan di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penguasaan kosakata siswa di kelas VII MTs Nur Rahma Kota Bengkulu ketika mereka diajar menggunakan media wall kata. Sebagai Kesimpulan, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media word wall mendorong siswa untuk lebih aktif dan dapat mengembangkan motivasi mereka dalam mempelajari kosakata Bahasa inggris.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana model pembelajaran berbasis game berorientasi Kahoot mempengaruhi keinginan siswa untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan pendekatan quasi experimental. Siswa kelas VII SMPI Al-Azhar 52 di Bengkulu, total 118 siswa, adalah subjek penelitian ini. Metode purposive sampling digunakan untuk mengumpulkan sampel untuk penelitian. Siswa kelas VII D dan VII C, masing-masing 28 siswa, digunakan sebagai kelas eksperimen dan sebagai kelas kontrol dalam penelitian ini. Pre-test, treatment, dan post-test digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Nilai pre-test dan post-test dibandingkan dalam penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permainan Kahoot berpengaruh positif terhadap keinginan siswa untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Nilai sig (2 tailed) dari asumsi varian yang sama adalah.003 dan α=0,05. Berdasarkan analisis data dan pengujian, hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima.

Abstract

Today's complex academic demands require full-time and working students to use self-regulated learning skills, social support, and academic resilience to manage learning pressures. This study aims to investigate the influence of self-regulated learning and social support on academic resilience among full-time and working English students in Bengkulu. Specifically, it compares academic resilience between these two groups, providing insights into how these characteristics interact with different student commitments. Using an explanatory survey design, this study investigated the causal relationships between self-regulated learning (X1), social support (X2), and academic resilience (Y) among English students who were full-time and working in Bengkulu. Questionnaires were used to collect the data. The samples were selected randomly consisting of 100 respondents—65 full-time and 35 working students. The data were analysed using multiple regression analysis to identify significant and dominant factors (whether X1 or X2) influencing Y. The research findings found proof that both factors significantly influenced academic resilience, but with different dominant patterns in each student group. Independent learning was the most dominant factor for full-time students (R² = 0.788), since it reflected its strong role in an academic environment. Conversely, social support was the dominant factor for working students (R² = 0.756), indicating the important role of support from the social environment in helping students cope with time and energy constraints. These findings revealed the significance of adjusting pedagogical strategies to students' levels and needs in English language learning in higher education, thereby building their academic resilience.
